I love these type of threads so thought I’d start one to hear everyone’s plans this weekend.

We are having a relaxing day at home tomorrow then out for dinner tomorrow night for a friends birthday meal at a local Chinese restaurant. Then Sunday it’s our towns light switch on so we are taking baby to see the lights as it’s her first ChristmasSmile

Doing some baking this morning. Ds2 (3) wants to “help” because he loves watching the big mixer

Ds2 nursery is hosting a special SEN Santa grotto today so we’re taking DS2 and DD to that (just to be clear ds2 attends a special SEN nursery we’re not just being dicks and gate crashing a special event to see Santa)

Hoping I can get a chance to watch some of the cheesy channel 5 Xmas movies I’ve got stacking up on the sky box

Tonight is date night for DH and I. We’ll have dinner get the kids to bed then settle in to watch Some tv together and have a cuddle

Ragwort · 27/11/2021 08:52

Working - retail, usually this would be a very busy Saturday, just after pay day and lots of people Christmas shopping but the weather might put people off.

DH is away for the weekend so lovely quiet night in tonight- cooking what I want and watching tv without having to compromise Grin. Lazy day planned tomorrow, seeing my elderly mum, some volunteering and more time on my own at home - one of my favourite activities Blush.

Taking my son to see Santa then lunch

OldTinHat · 27/11/2021 08:56

Meeting a friend for lunch then a mooch around a Christmas fair today. Tomorrow another friend is taking me for Sunday lunch at a posh restaurant as a thank you. I've no idea what to wear!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 27/11/2021 09:11

@bloodywhitecat

Going to see DH, not that he'll remember. My daughter is coming over soon so she can watch the fosterlings while I am gone and my son-in-law will be here later once he finishes work. Tomorrow I will be visiting DH again. I want to try and get the babies out for a walk too at some point, weather permitting.
Thinking of you @bloodywhitecat
gemdrop84 · 27/11/2021 09:12

It was supposed to be a nice pyjama day, cleaning, christmas wrapping and advent calendar buying later on today but instead we will be putting the fence and sidegate back up that Storm Arwen brought down last night...damm you Arwen!!

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/11/2021 09:13

Hoping to have a nice morning with the DC, they want to paint, before they go to their dad's for a rare sleepover. After that, who knows? Housework probably!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 27/11/2021 09:30

Love these threads it always makes me feel so cosy reading them!

everyone here is awake but in bed, we were all up with the wind last night so on a go slow here. I'm about to jump in the shower then will drive to lidl for a quick top up shop as our eldest has been at home all week and has been raiding the fridge lol so quick few bits needed before big shop comes tomorrow

We are planning a big tidy this afternoon to make space for the Christmas trees we have 3.

Debating getting something from lid, for tea or may make turkey meatballs if I get turkey out the freezer, can't decide, votes please!! Turkey meatballs or lidl ready meals type thing

Tomorrow I'm so excited about I'm taking the older ones skating in the morning then to Starbucks and look at the Christmas lights etc. Little ones going to the park with DH.

Think this is our quietest weekend until Christmas!!

Babdoc · 27/11/2021 09:32

Bit of a milestone weekend for me.
Today is the 30th anniversary of much loved and missed DH's death.
Tomorrow is my birthday.
I am playing in a national bridge tournament on my birthday.
Then DD and her partner are coming for tea.
Our outing in Edinburgh was cancelled due to the gales, (which ripped a tree in half in my garden).

Highlanders372 · 27/11/2021 09:34

Christmas crafts this morning then a Chinese and film tonight. DS is going biking tomorrow and DH and I will take the dog a bit further afield for a nice long walk.

languagelover96 · 27/11/2021 09:39

a lie in
no plans
May do some paperwork later etc

Minceandonions · 27/11/2021 09:41

DH and I went out last night for dinner with friends.
Today we're doing nothing as I feel a bit under the weather. I might do some crafting and watch some films and we're having fajitas for dinner and watching Succession.
Tomorrow we're going to a festive wine tasting at our local wine merchants.

didireallysaythat · 27/11/2021 09:42

3-4 loads of laundry
Clean the kitchen and downstairs loo
Then make pancakes for breakfast

@PermanentTemporary missing the point of the thread completely, may I ask you for your bara recipe? My grandmother used to make it but I didn't get her recipe book....

PermanentTemporary · 27/11/2021 09:55

@didireallysaythat wish I could lay claim to it but it's actually from the River Cottage cakes book! Easiest cake ever except you have to remember to soak the fruit beforehand. Or not. I've never dared try it without though.

Make pot of tea. Put 225g dried fruit, zest and juice of 1 orange, and 150g light soft brown sugar into a bowl. Pour over 175 ml of tea, stir to combine and leave to steep overnight (or a few hours?)

Preheat oven to 180. Prepare 1 litre loaf tin (I just shove in some greaseproof). Add 1 egg to fruit mixture and stir in. Sift in 225g flour (oops was meant to be self raising, that explains why mine didn't rise) a pinch of salt and 1 tsp mixed spice. Stir with metal spoon to a soft dough. Pour into tin and tap the edge to level. Bake 1 hour.

troppibambini6 · 27/11/2021 10:01

I'm putting the house back together after having mew carpets fitted upstairs yesterday I underestimated how much upheaval it was going cause.
2 ds are at football, dd1 at work and dd2 still in bed.
I'm going to a 40th tonight which I'm really looking forward to.

peaceanddove · 27/11/2021 10:12

Weather is foul here, but no snow yet! Going out for lunch with DH then I will have an extra coffee and read my Kindle while he has a hair cut and Turkish shave.

Got to finish my jigsaw this afternoon so I can start my new fancy Xmas one with some gold foil pieces. Tonight will be a film + takeaway.

Tomorrow I'm heading to John Lewis to choose our Christmas cards, wrapping paper and a few more decorations.

Justonedayatatime11 · 27/11/2021 10:15

DD has just gone off to her dads until tomorrow afternoon. I've sorted all the indoor cats and made sure the outdoor ones still have their heating on. DH is in the bathroom, he may appear before lunch Hmm. Just a trip to the butchers for some venison, and the post office for some brown paper. I need to sort out the office, start wrapping presents and put together DDs amazing advent calendar before she comes home tomorrow. Hopefully an early night with a glass of something and a lazy day tomorrow!

RiderGirl · 27/11/2021 10:16

Currently still in my pj's in bed. Going to do a tip run later and dig out the Xmas decorations, I also want to make some shelved out of some reclaimed wood we've got so possibly a trip to b&q.

But that also may all go to shit because my DSis and baby visited last night, DSis came down with Norovirus in the night, they've now gone home and I've bleached everything, but sort of waiting for the inevitable 😝

Livpool · 27/11/2021 10:18

Seeing my parents later and staying over with DH and DS as it is my DMs birthday tomorrow. Really looking forward to it!

WalkingOnSonshine · 27/11/2021 10:19

We’ve just taken baby DS swimming and I’m now sat in the car while he naps in the back.

DH has a game later, so is taking the car. We were going to have a walk up to the garden centre to get cake & buy some Christmassy bits, but it’s so cold and windy that we might just hibernate and watch TV.

Tomorrow we’re doing lunchtime soft play.

MrsAvocet · 27/11/2021 10:49

We're going out, despite the weather and blocked roads etc to find a pub or cafe with power for lunch. Our electricity went off in the middle of the night and the electricity board website is showing that there hasn't been anyone despatched to deal with it yet. Tens of thousands of homes are without electricity in the region and as we are in the middle of nowhere we will be at the end of queue. Not unreasonably of course - they'll do the more urban areas that affect more people first and that's very sensible. We've got the generator running to power the essentials (boiler, freezer, fridges and of course router!) but I hate trying to cook on a camping stove so we're off to the nearest town with power for a decent lunch. Then if it's sandwiches or pot noodles this evening it wont seem too bad!

didireallysaythat · 27/11/2021 11:25

@PermanentTemporary

Thank you. You've just brightened up a grey weekend after a rubbish week. Thank you Thank you!

WildStallyn · 27/11/2021 12:24

Took DD to her gymnastics class this morning then took her for brunch - just at the supermarket cafe but felt like a real treat to her.

Going to our first Christmas event of the year shortly, a bazaar at a local school.

Tomorrow will probably be a mix of chores and relaxing at home.

Borland · 27/11/2021 12:38

We had the kids’ tennis lessons this morning, cinema this afternoon, then DH’s cousin and her family over for dinner this eve. Tomorrow morning we are going to a wetland centre, then eldest has a bday party in the afternoon, then in the evening we are going to the local Glow Christmas light trail. This is the busiest weekend we’ve had all year!

riotlady · 27/11/2021 12:59

3yo DD has been in an unexpectedly delightful mood and been my little helper all morning. We’ve sorted washing, done some jigsaws, made banana bread and washed her hair in the bath. About to have spag bol for lunch then she’s got a party this afternoon. Tonight I’m going to have oven pizza and daim cheesecake in front of strictly.

Tomorrow we might make some paper chains for Christmas decorations and then my mum is coming round in the afternoon
