How often do you wash your kids bedsheets?

4 year olds...obviously expect teens to do it themselves...

Not often. They sleep in PJ's and sheets seem fairly clean to me.

Yika · 24/11/2021 14:34

All sheets in the house get changed weekly though we could probably do fortnightly to be more economical as we shower or bath before bed. I wouldn’t go any longer though.

Theresamagicalplace · 24/11/2021 14:37

I really don't understand the posters saying they wouldn't expect their teens to do their own washing. My partner never had to do his own washing or housework and when we moved in together I had to teach him how to work the machine. And yet so many people on here crucify men who are "useless cocklodgers" when someone comes on to moan about how their husband doesn't do enough Confused

Anyway to answer the question, probably monthly unless there's been a sicky incident or nappy leakage but he sleeps in a sleep sack so the sheets are only in contact with his head , the bag gets washed with PJ's and other clothes twice a week.

JustButtingIn · 24/11/2021 14:50

With teenagers I still organise the washing. They strip their own beds, they know how to load and run the washer and hang the washing but more often than not I want to consolidate loads. Later they make their beds.

All bases are covered by the time they leave home. 🤷

@WakeUpLockie

Errrrm … when I remember! I’m prepared to be flamed 😄 They’re never visibly dirty or smell smelly so probably once a month. They both usually sleep uncovered and off the pillow honestly so it’s just the sheet to worry about anyway haha.
Yep and me ! I would love to say weekly but really just doesn't happen
JustButtingIn · 24/11/2021 15:26

When kids were younger I was less regular changing sheets as they weren't sweaty and seemed to have minor accidents which prompted a change as necessary.

Workinghardeveryday · 24/11/2021 15:51

Weekly for everyone but ds10 twice a week

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 24/11/2021 15:54

I aim for weekly which means they usually get done fortnightly.

Teen boys - they strip and make the beds. Sometimes I physically put the machine on, sometimes they do.

Sparkletree · 24/11/2021 16:45

Daily for my 5yo as he's still a ridiculously heavy wetter at night and no nappy seems to cope, so I have to wash his sheet, waterproof sheet, duvet cover and waterproof duvet protector every day. I keep telling myself he'll be dry at night soon so it's just temporary but this has been going on years now Sad
The rest of us have bedding changed every 1-2 weeks.

Notdoingthis · 24/11/2021 17:09

My son at least once a week as he lets the cats sleep on it.
My daughters, more like once a fortnight.

Blackmagicqueen · 24/11/2021 17:13

Weekly especially in summer but more like once 10days-fortnight in winter! Obviously change it more if something gets on it but they are so young and they don't smell...id imagine teens would be very different!

Hemingwayscats · 24/11/2021 17:14

I used to do everyone’s weekly but now I have two more DC who are toddlers and I’m frankly exhausted and can’t be bothered. My older three mostly do their own bedding, I usually help with the duvet though. I’d say they’re changed every 2-3 weeks.

Redcrayons · 24/11/2021 17:14

Because it’s such a waste to run the machine for each person in the house. I can get both DCs full bedding sets in my washing machine. If DC2 had to wait for DC1 to finish doing his washing, the washer and dryer would be going all day.

Having been married to a lazy manchild, I do understand what you are saying and I do make them strip and remake the beds and pre sort and put away their own laundry. But it makes sense to bundle it all together.

I totally agree with you. My Mum did everything for me growing up and leaving home was a massive shock to the system. I had no idea how to switch a washing machine on let alone change my bedding, I had to learn everything from scratch by myself.
YoComoManzanas · 24/11/2021 17:16

About fortnightly but in reality monthly. Unless there's an accident. Both tend to go to bed in clean pyjamas and have a wash and they're not that sweaty or dirty.
Might be time to change the eldest sheets.

DGFB · 24/11/2021 17:17

Every two weeks, they sleep in PJs which are washed every 1-2 days

Tiredmum100 · 24/11/2021 17:22

Dc are 8 and 9. Shower every night before bed, I would love to do it weekly but in truth its every 2 weeks or sometimes 3 if its been a particularly busy few weeks!

But they don't just do their own. They get a wash load together of their stuff then fill the machine with stuff from other wash baskets.
avocadotofu · 24/11/2021 17:27

Weekly. Our cleaner does it for us so it's one less thing to think about.

Nearlytheretrees · 24/11/2021 17:31

I aim for weekly, in reality it's more like fortnightly or longer if I have a lot of washing

RagzReturnsRebooted · 24/11/2021 17:33

@Softwonder

When Mine were smaller it was monthly as they didn't sweat, wee, or anything else in bed and everything smelled nice for ages!

Teenage boys I do when they can be arsed to strip the bed for me and bring it down to the laundry room. Generally when they've got a girlfriend coming round. 😁

Ours I do fortnightly. Honestly after a week it all still smells and looks fresh. I don't get the washing weekly thing, it's too much hassle to want to do it when it's not necessary. No one likes changing the beds (although lovely when done)

Pretty much the same here. Eldest DS strips his and changes it every week or two. Other DS slightly less often and I do have to remind him sometimes, but he is getting better. DD is 11 and I have to tell her to do it, or it wouldn't get done. She has a favourite set and doesn't like to part with it, even for a few hours! I think I will have to get a 2nd set (it's teddy fleecy bedding and I don't know how she can sleep in it, I'd be sweaty and uncomfortable but she loves it!). DD needs a bit of help with getting the cover back on, but otherwise I do expect them to do this themselves. I don't really go in their rooms.
TheFabledSnake · 24/11/2021 17:36

Fortnightly. She has a bath every night so I figure she's clean enough! But if there are spills etc then more

WaltzingToWalsingham · 24/11/2021 17:41

Every two weeks here. Washing it is easy enough but we're a family of five and with bedding, towels and bath mats, regular clothing and delicates too, I just can't keep up with the drying if I change everyone's bedding once a week.

Lemoncurd · 24/11/2021 17:49

12 year old washes his every 5-6 days, have to keep asking him to try and space them out a bit more. 16 year old does them whenever his girlfriend is visiting - every 1 - 2 weeks.

MarmitesMyMate · 24/11/2021 17:50

Weekly. All 5 beds.

Our bed
Bunks for the girls
Cotbed

Teen. Teen strips and makes his on a Fri b4 going to DF.

Rest I do all on a Monday
