What is your chore? How will you reward yourself? How long will it take? How is it going.

I am working on a maths assignment. It's not going well.

I've taught a Brazilian juijitsu class, walked the dogs and done a workout, my last chore will be to finish the cleaning (hoover and mop the ground floor)
Do hoovers while I mop, it will take half and hour and then we will watch movies all afternoon

HastySlander · 21/11/2021 13:56

Clean the house and proof read my brothers essay 😩 going to pour myself a glass of champagne to drink as I complete said chores and then make gluttonously fattening pasta for dinner 🥂

Opal8 · 21/11/2021 13:58

Went to cemetery to see dad, and change his flowers
Went to see mum at her sheltered accommodation
Went to garden centre for spring bulbs
Went to sainsburys for bits and bobs for dinner
Spent over an hour in thr garden pruning dead heading etc
Planted bulbs out
Got the winter hats, gloves, scarves etc down from the loft
Now I'm eyeing the ironing basket 🧺
I'm looking forward to my dinner!

I have 1500 words on biocide resistance to write and some housework.. joy.

Workinghardeveryday · 21/11/2021 14:05

Just hoovered top to bottom, made lunch, cleaned up after lunch, 2 loads of washing, mucked out living room after dp isolating and sleeping in there, dog walk. Now need to cut ds10s hair, bath dog, dry dog, ironing for the week, make tea (Hairy Bikers Sausage Casserole) with veg. Clean up after tea.

For a treat I get to sit on a sofa snd watch tv for first time in nearly 2 weeks

HelplesslyHoping · 21/11/2021 14:06

I've got the food shop arriving between 2:30 and 3:30. I need to blitz the kitchen before it arrives, and find some space in the freezer. It'll probably take over half an hour if I put down my phone. I plan to reward myself with a snack board for DH and I to nibble on this afternoon until we get pizza...

MeatyRvita · 21/11/2021 14:21

Pre Christmas tree deep clean everywhere, I’ve got a chilli con carne going in the slow cooker, and my next two jobs on my list are put away a fuck ton of clean washing and then I’m going to clean the windows
My reward will be having a meal ready later so I can just collapse on the sofa and maybe watch a crappy Christmas film Wine

Yummypumpkin · 21/11/2021 14:28

@MeatyRvita when will you get your tree?? I am getting a potted one so even wondered about getting it soon this year

MeatyRvita · 21/11/2021 14:33

@Yummypumpkin we’re getting a potted one too, getting it next weekend! Smile

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 21/11/2021 14:35

While DP is doing a fairly big DIY job I'm taking dc to the pool. Not looking forward to it. Then home to make Sunday dinner and sort everything for school and work tomorrow. I'll reward myself later with a bath and a large glass of wine and then an early night!

Yummypumpkin · 21/11/2021 14:35

Oooh!! Well that gives me a delayed reward...I saw them in the shop so thought it would be ok (I don't have the heating on yet). I will follow you in this regard (have now abandoned maths assignment in favour of drafting an email to tutor pulling out of course)

We came home early (left at 10) last night from a family event, to look after our own pets, we had requests for family dogs to be cared for by us too so were out past midnight collecting dogs, feeding and toileting. Looked like nutters this morning walking everyone, even the toddler was holding the leads of a couple of the smaller dogs (shes used to walking our two big boys so knows how to handle dogs very well already) - feels like I'm caring for a kennel today.

Got to get them all out again and then we are off to drop all the doggy visitors back at their own homes and enjoy having just our two big woofs to deal with.

Wierdly all of the larger dogs have been a dream - settled easily on floor beds and nice and quiet and co-operative all night.

The tiny dogs clearly get too pampered at home and keep trying to jump up at us scratching our legs and yapping, they have been a bit annoying, we got our point across to them eventually though and it's been wierdly nice having dogs around that I can lift and don't weigh more than me, the small ones do have their charms and I see why people choose the little ones, they are very babified and snuggly.

pregnantorkebab · 21/11/2021 14:42

Not at all @YummyPumpkin, the only reason I do it is because I don't hoover often enough Blush and the cat has her preferred spots on the carpet - which get very furry!!

YetAnotherWalk · 21/11/2021 14:44

Oh no @Yummypumpkin can Hegarty maths help? He has tutorials on so many things!

Slashbackblazer · 21/11/2021 14:44

Today's list (haven't started yet as went horse-riding earlier and did quite a few horsey chores and still have more to do):

  • washing X 2 loads
  • empty bins
  • make butternut squash soup
  • make coffee and walnut butterfly cakes
  • replace bailer twine loops on stable metal tie posts X 2
  • clean mud off saddle & tack
  • sort boxes in corridor
  • tidy up one bedroom

Thanks for the collective motivation! It's cold, gloomy, and tipping it down here and and my natural instincts are to climb under the duvet! Grin

Slashbackblazer · 21/11/2021 14:46

Forgot my reward: DH is cooking me peppered steak tonight.

BlueFlavour · 21/11/2021 14:47

@Yummypumpkin
Are you sure?
What’s the course? Could you email him and say this question doesn’t make sense and it’s driving you to tears?

Slashbackblazer · 21/11/2021 14:48

Very impressed by those of you doing deep cleaning for Christmas. I am not starting until 1st December!

TurquoiseDragon · 21/11/2021 16:20

Phew! last chore done except dinner, and DS will be starting that in about a hour. Currently on the phone with a friend, bliss.

Yummypumpkin · 21/11/2021 17:04

Chores are wrapping up....treat time is here for us all.

WildStallyn · 21/11/2021 17:14

First day of feeling vaguely human after the Cold From Hell so tidied the whole house after a week of total neglect (DH is also poorly and has been working flat out throughout before anyone asks).

Reward was a long bath with a bath bomb.

BeyondMyWits · 21/11/2021 17:23

Have MiL here for the day, she has advancing dementia so I'm afraid it does feel like a chore now. I've been asked 6 times in 3 hours how my recently deceased mum is doing. I feel that my bottle of empathy has been drained to the last drop...

BeyondMyWits · 21/11/2021 17:25

Oh, my reward will be the silent solitude following her departure home when I can just sit!
