What is your chore? How will you reward yourself? How long will it take? How is it going.

I am working on a maths assignment. It's not going well.

So many chores!!!!! We work hard!! Also we are v v good at rewarding ourselves and I love the treat ideas! @Luredbyapomegranate me too with the sofa sitting and me too with being inspired by the industriousness of mumsnetters!

Also I have never squeegeed my carpets so now feeling slovenly.

Sounds like by 6pm we will all be done!

I’m sorting through mine and the youngest dc’s clothes. I haven’t tackled my wardrobe in years so have found so much to get rid of and a big pile of outgrown clothes from dc to pass on.
Also have general housework to get done this afternoon.

Reward will be chocolate cake and custard tonight.

UseOfWeapons · 21/11/2021 13:01

My chore was ironing, but for the looks of things, it probably won’t get done today, I cut back the front garden for winter, did the bathroom and hoovered instead.
Treat will be a Tesco blackcurrant sundae…may try the Co-Op ones from up thread!

LunaticLandscape · 21/11/2021 13:01

I've done a lot of overtime this week and my home shows it! So I need to run hoover round, clear kitchen and get rid of some clutter that has accumulated. I should probably meal plan/prep too.
My reward will be a walk later and DH is in charge of tonight's roast Smile

Shergill15 · 21/11/2021 13:11

All the chores need doing here! Me and DD have been ill all week and stuck in waiting on PCR results (both negative so just a rotten cold fortunately). However, the house is an absolute disgrace as a result so need to get it sorted, plus the usual Sunday prep for work and school. Reward will be sponge pudding and custard after a big roast dinner

MrsPleasant · 21/11/2021 13:17

Am also sorting out garden detritus. I'm simultaneously cooking an ottolenghi recipe someone posted on here recently. My next job is doing something with the damp patch which has appeared on the wall and then finally a fuckton of school stuff for tomorrow. I'm rewarding myself with overly frequent trips to check MN.

Twinstudy · 21/11/2021 13:19

Cleaning the oven 😭 it's supposed to be self cleaning but it's pretty crap tbh. I've done the door this morning with a dishwasher tablet , the self clean is running now but it'll need some manual intervention when it's done. Then there's the racks and trays to do. Used to get a lovely man in to clean the old oven but feel like I can't justify it with this one with it being self cleaning, even tho it doesn't sodding work very well.

There's a nice bottle of white wine in the fridge which will be my well deserved reward later!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 21/11/2021 13:20

I’m about to sort our chickens out and then make a banana loaf.

DD has covid, waiting for results for me. I thought I had it yesterday, today I think it’s just stress aches!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 21/11/2021 13:20

Clothes washing is on.

StewPots · 21/11/2021 13:21

Got up, sorted laundry, changed the bed, deep cleaned the bathroom, mopped and put a ham on. Still have to do ironing and dinner for tonight, but am rewarding myself now by being on MN with a cup of tea and Classic FM playing, relaxing before DS returns from his Dads and the noisy chaos resumes!

merryhouse · 21/11/2021 13:21

I need to write up the minutes from Monday's PCC meeting. It will take about half an hour, plus the 5 days and 5 hours Not Doing It (though that is considerably less than the average, go me... presuming I do actually start it today).

Ought to do some of the ironing as well (definitely the karate outfits).

Reward will be H-cooked roast dinner, Dr Who and Strictly Results. Possibly a beer.

YetAnotherWalk · 21/11/2021 13:27

@Tobchette my first was awful and long and my second was so different - there wasn't time to fill up the birthing pool - in fact almost didn't make the hospital!

Lots of chores here. Cleaning, washing and ironing done. Roast to cook and the weekly phone call to hear about who has died, who's ill and any other things negative Mum needs to get off her chest.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 21/11/2021 13:28

My chore for today will be to do some organising/clearing out of our big room upstairs which we’re using for storage at the moment.

Then to list a few things on eBay for Christmas spending money.

I will reward myself with sitting down this evening, cup of mulled apple juice with Calvados in hand, and listening to classical music whilst reading today’s chapter of Nigel Slater’s Christmas Chronicles.

Happy, cosy tasks for today include making rolled beef brisket casserole for dinner, then making sausage rolls and Christmas pudding.

YetAnotherWalk · 21/11/2021 13:28

Hope you are done @Yummypumpkin

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 21/11/2021 13:30

I’ve just finished cleaning the house everything done except bathrooms which I’ll do once everyone is done with baths and showers then I’ll have mine. DH is making toad in the hole as a change for dinner after that it’s family time with DC were playing some games. I’ll have a glass or two of wine then a movie or series with DH and early to bed.

ToughTittyWhompus · 21/11/2021 13:32

Multiple loads laundry to put away so me and DCs have enough clothes for school/Uni/work.

Need to plan how I’m going to catch up on missing a whole week of Uni last week due to sick DCs.

I’ve done the online food shop.

I need to make dinner.

I need to find out what tool I need to dismantle a broken set of IKEA drawers as I don’t seem to have the right thing and they’re in my way in my bedroom.

I’ve hoovered the living room, dug out the Christmas decs and stashed them in my bedroom, bathed DD3, sorted through all the presents that were delivered this week and put them in the correct Santa sack and hidden them, emptied and reloaded the dishwasher, and now I’m logging onto work for the next 3 hours at 2pm.

ToughTittyWhompus · 21/11/2021 13:33

I’ll be rewarding myself with tea and panettone when DCs are in bed.

thebear1 · 21/11/2021 13:35

Ironing school uniform, pretty much the only Ironing I do. Already been to a farmers market so my reward will be a donut I purchased.

Yummypumpkin · 21/11/2021 13:37

@YetAnotherWalk I am beyond stuck! I literally am now looking at an equation which defines numbers divisible by 2 as odd. And I am very nearly crying!!!!

Today I am painting where repairs have been needed eg around new light switches. I started cleaning the bathroom yesterday but the floor needs doing. There is wine in the fridge for later.

Racingadmin · 21/11/2021 13:40

Cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms before a 5 mile run.

My reward is that I'm now showered, in comfy pjs and going to spend the whole afternoon on the sofa reading. There will be a bar of Ritter coconut macaroon chocolate involved at some point

Dinotruxagain · 21/11/2021 13:41

Im attempting to decorate the bathroom so currently covered in paint/sealant plus popping back and forth while things dry doing all the usual Sunday stuff, washings, changing beds and organising for the week ahead.
Feeling very swamped with jobs at the moment!
Treat wise, I'm eating my way through a pack of Revels and a cup of tea to keep me going.

Crumblinginside · 21/11/2021 13:43

Window cleaning also (I've used hit water fairy and vinegar) they have most of the dirt lifted and just need to get some kind of sparkle cleaner during the week to buff them.

Also decluttering toys and put a few up on fakebook.

We are giving for a drink tonight.

HeronLanyon · 21/11/2021 13:45

My list reads
Clean kitchen
Clean bathroom
Clean sitting room
Clean bedroom
I have done those.

I still have
Deal with urgent ignored emails from last week
Book two taxis
Prépare case (lawyer)
Rubbish & recycling.
Quick food shop.

Ffs this is supposed to be ‘day of rest’. I cleaned instead of ‘working’ this morning clearly.

StCharlotte · 21/11/2021 13:52

I've done my main chore of Sunday morning visit to MIL. She's 90 and I love her dearly but if I have to hear about her being bombed out in the war one more time...

Reward is the bacon nutty I've just eaten.

(And I can heartily recommend the blackcurrant sundaes - they're in the individualapplepie section rather than the chiller bit)
