Who is awake right now and why?

That's it really. I'm awake even though I should be asleep. I'm tired but like this quiet time to do stuff.
I don't hate sleep, but can easily avoid going to bed Hmm

So anyone else up for no reason whatsoever?

@Aethelthryth

Standard post-menopausal waking between 2 and 4. Have cat, cup of tea and will watch Masterchef
Me too, same reason I think. I started hrt this week so I'm hoping my sleep will get better soon
Iflyaway · 16/11/2021 03:52

I have chronic insomnia.... so I'm awake too.

Sleep about 5 hours a night, and sometimes catch up, an extra 3...

I do like the quiet at night though, it relaxes me.

DancingintheSpoonlight · 16/11/2021 03:52

39 weeks pregnant and had a tiff with DP so mithering

isthismylifenow · 16/11/2021 03:55

Having morning coffee in bed.

It's nearly 6am here

I'm awake and worrying about things that I can't change. I just ave to get with dealing with it all, but it makes me feel overwhelmed

Similar here. My Mum died very suddenly last week and I’m just overwhelmed with everything.[/quote]
Huge sympathies.Flowers

AtlasPine · 16/11/2021 04:03

I don’t know why I’m awake. I fell asleep around 11 ish and woke at about 1am. Have been awake since. I don’t have work tomorrow though which is a relief.

Been feeling kinda off for a couple of days, sort of shaky/on edge, lots of palpitations, insomnia. Anxiety maybe, possibly perimenopause, or I'm about to drop dead (as my paranoid brain keeps telling me).

Same here. Nearly every night I wake between 2 and 3 and rarely get back to sleep. It's awful isn't it?

PhilCornwall1 · 16/11/2021 04:17

Bloody Rheumatoid Arthritis, been awake since 2:30am in pain, as I didn't take my evening painkillers, as I fell asleep in the chair and then collapsed in bed. Painkillers taken and waiting for those to kick in.

Also got a really niggling dry cough, so keeping an eye on that. I've just started a new biologic drug which apparently has a cough as a side effect.

fibeee · 16/11/2021 04:21

Toddler woke me up crying at 3:30 and wanted nursed back to sleep. Now I’m lying here listening to her coughing in her sleep and wondering whether to phone the GP in the morning.

Poppiesway1 · 16/11/2021 04:30

I had a bad dream about ds2… had to go check on him (15), he was sound asleep Smile but now I can’t sleep. The dog is snoring away though!!

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 16/11/2021 04:43

I seem to wake up at 3.20am every sodding night 😩
Luckily I’m retired so it doesn’t affect work but it’s tedious.

sjxoxo · 16/11/2021 04:50

I’m awake worrying about giving birth in about 6-8 weeks.. woke DH up for some moral support but he was pretty useless. Now watching downtown abbey with a hit choc on my lonesome thinking how to get through the mega day at work I have starting in a few hours!!

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/11/2021 04:54

Been awake over an hour. That’s good going for me this time of year. I suspect that is because I have long term issues with the Covid jab as I have advanced sleep pattern. By this time, I’m usually awake and done by 1.30 am.

pregnantorkebab · 16/11/2021 05:01

I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. Just as I got snug again 7 m old DS woke up 🙈

But on the plus side, if we get a 4 am waking from him, he usually sleeps again til 7 am. I hope so!!

YukoandHiro · 16/11/2021 05:06

I'm feeding my 13mo who still likes to put in three appearances overnight. It's exhausting. Also have a big work deadline tomorrow so really need to get another hour or so if I can before eldest DD wakes and school run etc.
Solidarity with those with insomnia. I go through periods of it and it's so frustrating but definitely easier when you just embrace it

LadyPenelope68 · 16/11/2021 05:52

@AtlasPine
Thank you

Simonjt · 16/11/2021 06:10

I’ve been awake since 2:30, my inlaws are coming to visit today and they’re staying for a week (they live abroad), I’m dreading it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/11/2021 06:28

😂😂 @Simonjt I know the feeling. I think you should channel your inner what would Simon say if this was mumsnet. And if they like / are good with kids, get your ds to act as a human shield. Littlies are often obliging.

I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks

Like someone upthread I'm a night owl having an all nighter. I think the darkness at this time of year confuses my brain, I'm tired all day and wide awake at bedtime. Also dog ate quite a lot of grass yesterday evening and I knew it would make a reappearance, it was hard to relax.
Sorry for everyone in pain or worrying, I hope you can get some rest ThanksCakeGin
Anyone else use otc sleeping pills? I bought some at the airport before a flight last summer and they worked perfectly, now I take one or two every now and then when I need to.

SweetsAndChocolates · 16/11/2021 06:53

Lots of unwell posters or unwell dcs 😔 nights are long and tedious when it's due to illness (yourself or others). Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

The night is over, and I'll probably let people know a few hundred times how I'm tired during the day today Grin

I'm sorry you're suffering from similar, it really is rotten. I did manage to get to sleep at about 4, but up now to sort DD out for school. No work work today but have to do some work with DH this afternoon for our business, so gonna try to catch up a little before then.

Oh how I hate that gritty eye, semi comatose feeling that lack of sleep gives you. I hope you all managed to get at least a few hours
of rest.

BooseysMom · 17/11/2021 10:56

@inigomontoyahwillcox.. thank you. I had a better night last night and didn't wake until 6! A new record! How are you? We are currently awaiting PCR test results and it's taking longer than last time. The last one was 22 hours. We're over 24 now and DS seems as right as rain and it's only me coughing
