What’s Happening In Your House?

What I’m doing & what I should be doing are very different! I should be completely blitzing our bedroom. It’s so cluttered & dusty! I watched the Stacy Solomon programme earlier ( Sort Your Life Out) & felt partly inspired & partly depressed! I would apply but DD12 announced that she wouldn’t let anyone in her room. We have a fairly small house but it’s incredibly cluttered.
I seem to have lost time today. Haven’t been sleeping very well for weeks so it was lovely to get 6 hours straight. Popped to Asda for a new mop & some Christmas decorations for DD’s room. I’ve defrosted some of DH’s pizza dough & he will make a sauce later then we’ve got various toppings. Can’t wait for the next episode of Angela Black tonight.

Just been for a lovely long walk round the local park with dog and DS. DH now prepping a pasta bake for tea, DS watching Labyrinth for the second time today and I'm upstairs pretending to put washing away.

Fireworks display with neighbours later.

WakeUpLockie · 07/11/2021 16:15

Travelled back from a night away this morning. Been doing Lego all day and watched Toy Story 1-3. Went for a walk in the local woods. Now all on screens chilling! Curry for me a DH later :)

stopblowingyournose · 07/11/2021 16:17

I'm eating biscoff and drinking tea waiting for the washing machine to finish before I take dspanner around the block.

It's the first off I've had from the dds and dp for months. I had a lie in, watched magic Mike and went to aldi so I could get their sushi for lunch. I've done some mild decluttering but not much else. It's been bliss.

The biggest exertion was cleaning out the rabbit.

RozHuntleysLeftHand · 07/11/2021 16:21

DS spent most of the day playing switch. Blush
But Bastard XP has taken him out for a few hours so I have just attempted to bleach my hair by myself for the first time, just waiting for it to take then dying it purple after it being blue for 10 years.
Decided I need a change!

Have eaten fruit cake, cheese and port just now.

Jacket potatoes for dinner with beans and cheese for DS and sour cream/fresh chilli/coriander and cheese for me.
Followed by a Doctor Who marathon with DS with homemade brownies, ice cream and Nigellas salted caramel sauce.

Opal8 · 07/11/2021 16:23

Dh is in his shed
Ds1 face timing a friend who is at a different university
Ds2 doing homework/playing online with his cousin
I'm sitting on the bed watching "question team" on uktv
I did most of the laundry/cleaning yesterday and made a belated guy fawkes night meal so I'm not up for cooking today
I took mum out this morning. It's getting harder to make conversation with her. She has no interests and doesn't go anywhere.
I start my new job tomorrow. To say I feel unprepared us an understatement...

RozHuntleysLeftHand · 07/11/2021 16:27

Oh forgot to add we've got leftover sparklers so will be lighting those later. Love a sparkler!!

stealingbeauty · 07/11/2021 16:30

House is like a bomb’s hit it as we’re decorating.

We had a roast for late lunch (nut roast). Pilates class tonight.

Titsywoo · 07/11/2021 16:38

Currently sitting on sofa with DH after spending all day cleaning and tidying the house. Dd is doing homework and ds is on his computer. Going for dinner with friends later so I'm about to shower.

SethWho · 07/11/2021 16:39

Drove over to another village to have hot chocolate with a friend, did a bit of window shopping and treated DD to a fancy milkshake.
Done some work for tomorrow then put the chicken in the oven and watched a couple of films on Disney+. Off out tonight to watch Dune.

KurtWilde · 07/11/2021 16:46

It's been a very busy few days. Had a wander round town this afternoon with DC, hot chocolate and some window shopping. I'd put a beef casserole together before we went out so that was pretty much ready to eat when we got home. Very tasty. Winding down now with some tv, probably have a soak and a glass of wine later.

mamaduckbone · 07/11/2021 16:52

I drove ds12 to rugby this morning, he was injured within 10 minutes so drove back again and took him to the urgent care centre to have his knee looked at. He needs to rest it so is now on the sofa.
Dh and I have been for a walk rather than cut back the ivy in the garden which needed doing. Roast is in the over, ds15 is revising, I feel like I need a nap.

Popfan · 07/11/2021 17:06

Lie in, then I went food shopping with DS13 who likes to come so he can add things I don't want to buy to the trolley. Bacon baguette for lunch and then DS went to play golf with his friend, I also play but just had a practice with my dad. Cleaned out guinea pigs, did the bird feeders. Dh lazed on sofa most of the day - he's worked hard 6 days this week. Going to get a take away for dinner and watch TV this eve!

@KurtWilde

mmmm beef casserole. I've just been thinking I should do a stew this week, it's been so cold I just need hot comfort food.

How's baby? how are the new parents doing?

spagbog5 · 07/11/2021 17:22

Lovely day here
Dd1 just text to say her boyfriend loved the cake I made for his birthday ( on her behalf as she had no time due to work but I'm not sure if he knows of my involvement- she did ice and decorate it to be fair)
Dd2 and her girlfriend are out for a walk
Dd3 and I are just back from a very successful shopping trip as she's had a growth spurt and she is now revising for her mocks again
Dh hit some golf balls on the range earlier after breakfast with his dad.
Dh is watching football next to me while I MN and chill before making linguine with tomato, mozzarella and basil for dinner
Having a cheeky gin too !

mbosnz · 07/11/2021 17:27

DH is upstairs with the cat on top of him, watching him disapprovingly as he snores up a storm.

DD is upstairs gaming with her online friends.

I am having a glass of wine and listening to what sounds like Beirut out there.

DD1 is pulling a double shift at work, drat the child. I'm worried sick about how much she's working, but she's 18 on Wednesday, and naturally knows everything. . .

Indoctro · 07/11/2021 17:31

I'm in kitchen / conservatory in the process of making steak pie with trimmings

One child is in toy room playing on Xbox

My husband and other child are in living room watching YouTube videos about fixing old stuff up.

badlydrawnbear · 07/11/2021 17:35

DC2 is playing animal crossing and watching annoyer youtubers. DC1 is upstairs, probably also playing animal crossing.
I am about to put a pizza in the oven for dinner. I just had to make some sort of cake thing, because my mum came the other day with the ingredients so DC could make cake with grandma then said there wasn't time and I would have to do it. DC did not want to do it with me. I really couldn't be bothered but I know my mum will ask DC next week if they enjoyed the cake so I have to.
I am too exhausted to function properly, so tried to get DC to do some homework today, DC1 bizarrely voluntarily tidied her room and I had to help her for a bit, played some board games with DC2 because I insisted she had to turn the tv off for a bit, that's all we did today.
After dinner, bath DC, put DC2 in bed with books to read, watch Dr Who with DC1, put them both to bed, probably fall asleep while waiting for them to fall asleep, wake up, make packed lunches for school tomorrow, tidy up a bit, iron either a large pile of clothes or give up and just iron 2 school shirts, go to sleep in the early hours.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 07/11/2021 17:38

DH made some ginger rock cakes, brought one in with a cuppa. I'm so spoilt!

TheChosenTwo · 07/11/2021 17:41

Well after a very busy weekend I’m now sat in front of the fire warming up after being out in the hot tub (very hot but the dash from there to the door is freezing 😂).
Dh is cooking roast beef, Yorkshire’s, cauli cheese, Parmesan parsnips and all manner of other deliciousness, dd1 has just got home from work and I think in the shower, dd2 is on her way home from being with her friends, ds is playing a new switch game.
Quite peaceful here. Might pour myself a glass of something nice!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/11/2021 17:42

DH took the DC away for the weekend so the cat and I have the house to ourselves. He's asleep and I'm watching crap on TV until they get home...

Houseofvelour · 07/11/2021 17:43

We've just got back from a weekend away. We should be unpacking and tidying but the kids are cuddled up to their daddy, watching TV and I'm browsing mumsnet

AliasGrape · 07/11/2021 17:45

DH has been at his mum and dads helping them make a photo calendar with pictures of MY dog. We sadly lost him earlier this year, I’d had him long before I ever met DH. My in laws were a bit obsessed with him and have decided they want a calendar, I’ve heard about nothing else from them for months but they couldn’t pick 12 photos. They finally have so DH had to go and show them how to use the snapfish site. Whilst he was gone our elderly neighbour came round asking for him as he needs help setting up a printer so DH now gone to do that, but he’s been gone quite a while so I’m guessing it wasn’t straightforward.

Dinner is lentil cottage pie and DD has already had her portion and has pulled out every single toy she owns and I’m not letting her watch half an hour of absolute bilge on YouTube before bath time.

KurtWilde · 07/11/2021 17:45

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba it's the first proper stew of the season and it went down a treat!

All's well with baby and DD + partner. Can't believe little man is nearly 5 months old already! DD has taken to being a mum like a duck to water. Thanks for asking Smile

AliasGrape · 07/11/2021 17:47
  • now letting her I’m absolutely AM letting her watch the bilge so I can have a few mins peace!
Echobelly · 07/11/2021 17:48

Husband picking up oldest from choir rehearsal. Son (10) stomping about in just a top and pants all day (how can he not be freezing?!) because he's not gone anywhere and is quite happy about that despite the fact we've finally got serious onmonitoring his screen time this week, which he's being surprisingly good about. He's in his room watching fireworks from a nearby garden. We generally don't do them as our garden is so small and oldest is just too freaked out by the noise.
