Recommend me a whisky

It's getting too cold for my usual G&T and I fancy getting into whisky instead, which ones do you like?

DH drinks Laphroig, but it's too smoky for me, ideally I'd like something a bit smoother, that I can sip whilst curled up under a blanket.

I get DH Dalwhinnie. He's a whisky snob and it's his favourite.

I don't pretend to be any sort of whisky expert, but after a tasting of seveal of the whiskies at the distillery at Portree on Skye, I chose their Portruigh as the smoothest and nicest. I also like Bunnahabhain.

If anything this thread shows you everyone had different tastes when it comes to whisky. Maybe a mixed pack will let you try different ones to find out which is to your taste before buying a full bottle.
