What time do you go to bed?

During the Summer months we were usually out until at least 10pm, almost never in bed before midnight sometimes even later.

Now its dark and cold I have been tucked up with my electric blanket, extra warm winter duvet and a book since 7.30pm.

I won't be getting out until 7am tomorrow when the alarm goes off and even then I will hit snooze for half an hour

Apparently I'm like an elderly lady Confused Hmm

I don't like watching TV so I tend to be asleep with my youngest between 8.30 and 9. Usually up by 5 though. And I do this all year.

YellowMeeple · 03/11/2021 06:31

12:00-12:30 and then up again at 05:30. I am fortunate that I don’t need as much sleep as others, but this is the only way I can fit everything I want to into my life. That said I am liable to fall asleep any time I sit down so have to make sure I’m ironing etc if I want to actually see the end of any TV program I’m watching!

I have a long hours job, so am generally working until 23:30 ish then a quick chill out before sleep, then up early to exercise before work/getting the kids up for school.

About 9:30/10, and I fall asleep very quickly. If I’m still up past 11 for some reason I start feeling very anxious about not getting enough sleep.

V3nus · 03/11/2021 06:34

Usually between 9 and 10 every day unless I have something planned on an evening like dinner or seeing a friend. I have always needed a lot of sleep - it directly affects my mood the following day.

So glad to see a lot of other early bed timers! I am often in bed by 8 and asleep by 9.30. I do enjoy getting up early, though. However, this year, I am having a hard time adapting to the clock change. 4.30 am is a bit too early even for me!

gogohm · 03/11/2021 06:51

10.30 ish weeknights, later on weekends, around midnight typically

AlbusDumbledore2234 · 03/11/2021 06:53

Thanks everyone! Interesting answers, I'm not such a weird old woman after all! Grin

No pattern here. For “sleeping bed” very varied. It can be as early as 9:00 pm or as late as midnight. I get up for work around 5:00 am. The shorter nights tend to play catch up with the long ones.

If l’ve had a very busy day, l go to bed for an hour or so after work for a “power nap” cum late siesta. Then let the evening begin.

MinnieMountain · 03/11/2021 07:12

Up at 9:30pm, read then asleep at 10. That’s my magic time to nod off or it takes ages.
Awake 6-6:30am. I aim for that all year but get disturbed by the light in summer. We’re having solid shutters fitted.
I get the odd 4ish thanks to peri-menopause.

Buddyhobbs · 03/11/2021 07:21

Since the clock change I'm struggling to stay awake past 7pm so I'm sleeping 7pm to 5am.

Not sure if its because of the dark evenings or if I am getting sick.

I would go to bed earlier but have to wait until DC are in bed.

Ruibies · 03/11/2021 09:23

God I love going to bed. Would wind the evening up at about 8pm if I could. I'm usually in bed for 9-9.30 but will read. If I'm not already in bed by 10 then when I do go it's straight to sleep, no reading. Alarm usually goes off about 7am, 8.30 on a weekend.

I'm pregnant at the mo and just got out of first trimester where I was napping daily too - probably spent more time asleep than awake per 24 hours. This baby is going to be a horrible shock to my '9 uninterrupted hours a night' system haha.

DelphiniumBlue · 03/11/2021 09:39

Naturally, I find myself getting into bed around the time the shipping forecast comes on, at 12.45. But that's too late if the next day is a work day as it only gives me 6 hours sleep. So I try to make sure I'm upstairs by about 11/11.30 and I might then read for a bit.
I should really go at about 10 if I'm going to read, but that never happens unless I'm ill.

fussychica · 03/11/2021 10:17

About 11pm most nights. Read for 30-45 mins.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 03/11/2021 12:44

I wound it right back in the hope that it would help me to go to sleep before 3am when I get up at 5, all the way back to 9.15pm after midnight, 11pm and 10pm failed to do anything useful.

Occasionally, I'm asleep by 1.45am now. So it sort of helped. Ish. A whole three hours if I'm lucky.

Add in DP thrashing about, talking at me or in his sleep or taking the quilt off me multiple times during dreams and I could quite cheerfully commit murder, particularly when because I've gone to bed, he then thinks it's OK for him to come in and exist in the same area for even longer. Oh, and he also sleeps during the day because he's waiting to start a new job.

This is a slightly testy subject for me at present, as I'm sure you can tell.
