Exante Diet food - is it all gross?

I just ordered the 21 day plan and included some savoury meals.
I just ‘cooked’ the carbonara and it’s literally revolting. It’s nothing like the picture on their website and it’s inedible.
Is it all going to be like this?
I have gained so much weight and really wanted this to work but I'm not sure I can stomach more food that tastes like that did!

@hamstersarse I’d love to but thought this would help break my binge cycle as I’d have limited but varied choice

Pour the carbonara over a plate of wilted Savoy cabbage: it adds lots of flavour and you'll enjoy it more.
I like exante but a lot of it needs tweaking. I find the soups far too thick so split them over 2 smaller meals and add more water and (if required) a tiny bit of marigold stock.
My favourite is the Daal pot as it's so convenient for work. I like the porridge better than real porridge.
I don't like the shakes ( again, too thick plus too sickly for me) but some of the bars are nice. It's a matter of trying them.
It helps me to reset as I use them to re-establish 'food as fuel' for a couple of weeks after a blow out or holiday.
Also: calorie free noodles, wilted greens, salad leaves, marmite, marigold stock, cumin, salt and pepper: all these things will improve the experience and make it easier to comply. Also: enhance your fibre and drink as much ch water as you can.
Of all the VLCD I think it is the best value and although it cannot claim to be real food it is at least a variety.

@36degrees Well done! How long have you been doing it?

@ODFOgrinch thank you so much!! I’ll definitely try those ideas

Thank you.

I did it properly from Jan to Sept last year. Maintaining now, with bars instead of breakfast, and low-carb/low cal the rest of the time. I am one of those unlucky (short) people who gain at 1000 cals a day so had to cut right back.

MrsColon · 02/11/2021 19:36

When you're really hungry, most things taste OK! Give it a few days.

36degrees · 02/11/2021 19:37

Also I noticed a definite improvement when I was strict about 8 glasses of water a day. I used a reminder app to keep me on track.

Moonopoly · 02/11/2021 19:39

@36degrees I have a 5 litre water bottle so will try and drink as much as I can

@MrsColon Good point! I don’t want to fail on this as I really need a reset and to lose a few pounds to motivate me to carry on eating without binging

I don't like the savoury packets, but love the pots. Most of the shakes are great, I use 400ml of water which is more than the 2500ml it states but I like them thinner. I like the cereal bars but not many of the others. It's all about trial and error and IMO much nicer than Cambridge and much cheaper too.

I'm 3 stone down and maintaining before another push for a stone before Christmas.

MajorNeville · 02/11/2021 19:52

Join the 'Exante Diet Official Group' on Facebook, it's really supportive and loads of ideas. There's also a sells and swaps group for products you don't like. I just buy the stuff I like now and don't buy the boxes.

labazslovesliving · 02/11/2021 19:52

when you have problems similar to what you stated these types of diet plans seem ideal no temptation all sorted for you but the majority taste bleeukk, they are minuscule sizes and cost a flipping fortune. i was all for Slimfast but ended up in hospital with crippling stomach pains sure I was having appendicitis but turned out to be chronic colic from the flipping stuff. avoid these things like the plague

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 02/11/2021 19:55

The shakes are nice. So are the coffee flavoured drinks. The yogurt is really nice if they still make it and the apple crumble thingy, the cereal is not too bad. The lemon pancakes are quite ok too.

Mushroom soup not too bad. But that's about it.

God I thought the porridge was rank 🤢 grey bitty watery paste.

Movinghouseatlast · 02/11/2021 20:15

I am doing Exante at the moment. It doesn't taste great but the soups are bearable and some of the bars. The pizza is OK if you add some vegetables as a topping.

I find it extremely difficult to lose weight

madisonbridges · 02/11/2021 20:21

I buy slim and save. There are some of the meals that are really tasty. I'm not mad on the shakes made with water so I use skimmed milk instead (which is not on the plan!). I don't how it does it but I feel satiated after eating a meal.

FlamesEmbersAshes · 02/11/2021 20:27

The Exante savoury meals are inedible IMHO. I remember throwing away the spag bol even though I was really hungry!

The shakes are fine, though. And if you’re looking at other brands, I didn’t mind the Slim N Save savoury meals - some of those were actually quite tasty!

Moonopoly · 13/11/2021 18:14

So after persevering I’ve decided this is not for me.
If anyone one here doing the diet wants what I have left you are welcome to have it for the cost of postage! Just pm me

Good decision, it's clearly not for you

My two pence worth for anyone else who's thinking of trying it is it is doable but only get their offer bundles eg 50 for £60 otherwise it's stupidly expensive.

Most of the shakes are quite nice. Far better than slimfast shakes. The lemon cheesecake one is lovely.

The pasta carbonara is as you say totally foul. I like the spag bol in the packet and the new pot Bolognese one they do. The sweet noodle packet ones are gorgeous. I love those.

The packet porridges are ok and the ones in a pot are nice.

The gooey choc pudding is lovely as long as you microwave it for the exact right time. A second too soon and it's goo, a second too late and it's a frisbee.

The mousse puddings are gross.
The berry yoghurt and muesli is lovely. Lemon pancakes are nice. Choco puffs are nice but a bit weird.
The apple and custard puddings are quite nice.

The bars are just disgusting. Particularly the 'cookie" ones.
The packet soups are fine.

The mocktails are an abomination. I got a box, had one and haven't touched the rest. I would offer to send them to anyone who wants them but they are foul as hell and I'd feel guilty for inflicting them on anyone.

WhoWants2Know · 14/11/2021 05:15

I'm on the Exante plan, but I'm not a huge fan of the savoury meals. Shakes are fine and a couple of the bars, but I also get either Slimfast or Tesco meal replacement bars.

If you're strict with the diet, your taste buds change over time so that things become more palatable.

WhoWants2Know · 14/11/2021 05:19

Oh, one other thing- part of the reason I use Exante is that I struggle to get the nutrients I need when dieting. I'm vegetarian, and often suffer with vitamin deficiencies at the best of times. I feel much better as a result of the supplements in the shakes.

Orangesandlemons77 · 09/12/2021 16:00

Just noticed this thread. I'm trying to do Exante but also have problems with binge eating...

My problem is I have quite a sweet tooth and I'm starting to crave and (occasionally) binge on the bars Blush which I find quite nice. A bit like chocolate bars, very sweet.

So, I'm trying to be careful and not eat too many. I don't feel all that healthy not eating as much real food, but as a PP says it can be helpful if you are a vegetarian, in particular I'm getting more protein which I log it all on myfitnesspal.

OP if no-one wants it here you could sell it on Ebay. There's lots on there for sale seems to go quite well...

Hippywannabe · 09/12/2021 16:09
