First day of half-term here and two dc under 10. What are your plans? Eldest is autistic and only wants screentime (doesn't get it unlimited) and days out are challenging. Getting outside is always good. Urgh, and I have to feed the blighters all day!

@Doughnuts68

What’s the best Butlins?
I've been to all 3, Skegness is my nearest but personally I like Minehead best. Bognor is a bit small.
MakeMineAdoubleChocolate · 25/10/2021 12:02

Spending the first two days declutteeing and having a massive cleaning attack, change around. Last 5 days, parks and walks and try and see you g to a museum. We didn't do anything associated with Halloween as it's not really our thing. We are Muslim so......

MinnieMountain · 25/10/2021 12:35

We’ve only been to Skegness. DS enjoyed it.

However I have fucked up our return journey spectacularly by getting on the wrong train at Grantham. So we’ve got to go down to London and up again. I’m blaming peri-menopause brain fog as I’m normally a very organised traveler.

Oh no!

DrunkenKoala · 25/10/2021 13:38

We’ve been pumpkin picking this morning. We’re baking this afternoon, going to make Halloween bats.
Planning on swimming tomorrow morning with DD(6) not sure if DS (12) wants to come.
DD needs new clothes so we’re off to shopping on Weds.
Meeting friends at a castle on either Thursday or Friday depending on weather. They’ve got a Halloween trail and activities.
On Saturday I plan to make my Christmas cake.

Doughnuts68 · 25/10/2021 19:48

Thanks Minnie

MinnieMountain · 25/10/2021 20:12

It was NOT a fun end to our trip Doughnuts.

MargaretThursday · 25/10/2021 20:16

I'm going to sleep. The dc are going to be on their devices. Perfect.

ChipsNCurry · 25/10/2021 20:19

Well I'd planned the whole week with fabulous and fun activities for the kids including a city break in a cool hotel, Halloween trail, pumpkin picking, watersports, cinema.....

...... and then DC tested positive for covid on day 1 of the holidays so I've had to cancel it all 🤦🏻‍♀️😩

Happy holidays everyone!

Theunamedcat · 25/10/2021 20:19

Doughnuts68 · 25/10/2021 21:03

What happened Minnie?

Doughnuts68 · 25/10/2021 21:45

Sorry for those isolating

MojoJojo71 · 25/10/2021 21:52

We made a last minute decision to jump on a train to Edinburgh for a few days. DD (8yo) and I have had a lovely day at the zoo today and are now curled up in bunk beds in a youth hostel with our books.

Doughnuts68 · 25/10/2021 22:07

Nice

BEE08 · 25/10/2021 22:11

Friday - We went to Nandos, then we have done the library and park at the weekend, pumpkin picking today. The rest of the week, I haven't planned much - we will do some baking and crafts and on Sunday we have a family Halloween party.
My sister decorates her carvan all the way though and puts on a great party with games and food for all the family kids, they love it.

This sounds the best - love being spontaneous! Enjoy Smile

Sorry for those having plans scuppered by covid :(

Tomorrow we're off to a nature reserve with an amazing soft play. And I'm going to try not to go on my phone constantly Blush

I have teens, one wont go out without me and has SN. But could go out without me to the local shop which would take five mins or park which is on our doorstep for half an hour or so but wont because of anxiety. She also refuses to contact friends or meet with or invite over. If I dont get her out daily for exercise to run energy off she is mega hyper and has laughing fits or aggression where she physically attacks me.

I cant say we have done much fun stuff yet. I took them for a walk in the countryside yesterday. I had to take SN dd for therapy today.

I have arranged to meet friends with similar aged teen girls who they get on with and know well, x 3 this week for three different activities eg a walk, swimming and an adventure park with outdoor activities. SN dd will not go swimming without me in the building. Luckily I don't actually have to go in the water. But she will need help dressing re anxiety.

Sometimes we go to NT places as a member. I joined when the dc were about 5 and 6. I find these are good for SN dd as can run off energy in grounds.

When they were little we were members of a couple of kids attractions and always visited them in sch hols and some weekends.

A trip to the beach is quite good or a wood. Or just a scooter ride somewhere. Not many people and a change of scene and fresh air.

Hope you manage to get out even for a couple of hours a few days.

Doughnuts68 · 26/10/2021 09:33

We’ve been swimming and pumpkin picking

MojoJojo71 · 28/10/2021 13:15

We had a great time in Edinburgh but DD has brought a cough home with her so we’re now at home waiting for PCR results 😞

qualitygirl · 28/10/2021 14:51

I had a spa weekend with some cousins, it was bliss. Then I came home a unpacked only to repack to go to a hotel for three nights with my dh and dc. We have been swimming, pumpkin carving and doing other Halloween activities. I'm just sitting with a coffee while the dc get their faces painted. Home tomorrow and then the dc have a Halloween party tomorrow evening. We're having people over for dinner on Saturday and no plans for Sunday.

inappropriateraspberry · 29/10/2021 09:07

We have done sweet FA! DS still has a rotten cold and it's been peeing it down every day. My sisters have visited, but I'm so glad my children are happy at home playing, drawing etc! I'm telling myself this is teaching them valuable life skills and making sure they're not reliant on being 'entertained' all the time!

Doughnuts68 · 29/10/2021 11:39

Halloween party coming up

spaceghetto · 29/10/2021 11:43

We are camping tonight! It's our annual tradition and we're very excited for it after a week of sickness bugs!
