London restaurant

We want to celebrate a few occasions we've missed with a family meal in London.

It's for adult early twenties DCs, DH and I and MIL.

We don't mind splashing a bit but would rather not go too crazy, looking for a place we will feel welcome (mil doesn't like too posh) but also maybe a bit of fun/ novelty.

It'll be a Saturday early evening if that makes a difference.

Can anyone recommend somewhere please?

Any cuisine except Indian as one of us (guess who Wink) doesn't like it.

Thank you

Sea Containers at The Mondrian on Bankside/Southbank. There is a bar on the top floor where you could go after dinner (you could also stay there if the budget stretches).

Zedel is fab, but the high ceilings make it noisy sometimes. Their beouf bourginon is lovely. It’s downstairs in the basement - well it’s not really a basement but the view is the stunning surroundings.

The Gherkin also has a restaurant and it makes the Tower of London look like Lego.

We ate lunch at the Ivy Asia today. I wouldn't really call it a restaurant with a view, there's a view of one side of St Paul's but not a lot else.

Came to around £50 a head (no wine). Two dishes were very good, the rest were fine but not that special. Fun decor. I'd probably go again but order a bit more carefully.

I like The Ivy brasserie by Tower Bridge. Obviously not every table has a view, but it's a great location.

I was at Caravan in Southwark a couple of weeks ago and saw James Arthur (caveat; had to ask a colleague if that was ‘the bloke’ from X factor as couldn’t recall his name)

For views - as others have said, sushi samba, duck and waffle, sky garden, shard.

I love hawksmoor and flat iron for a good steak. Wasn’t impressed by burger and lobster last week.

Brasserie zedel is fab, and owned by the same group who run the Delaunay and Wolsley.

Also check out drake and Morgan - fabulous bar restaurants with great cocktails

Just remembered! Book a pod here - they’re fab!

Temper in Covent Garden is nice. Good food and a range of age groups. Service was really good too.

I don't know why people always say Burger and Lobster on these threads- it's just a chain, similar to GBK?!! 🤷‍♀️

Have you tried Coq D'Argent? Great menu and views..

Sexy fish for lunch.

SOOOO instagrammable, a huge fish tank with a coral reef downstairs and the toilet walls are back lit so it's all fab and perfect for pics

Often got some TOWIE/footballer/insta model type celebs but don't let that put you off, there's a great vibe in there and the food is AMAZING.

The food comes out on amazing platters... I'm going to attach some anon pics if I can haha

Pic 1) me in front of the reef tank attempting to get a insta pic (failed)
Pic 2) my friend looking fab in the loo
Pic 3) a bday dessert platter that was full to the BRIM with deliciousness

I appreciate you may not want to take the chance but I got in the ivy asia as a walk in, on a Friday. No reservation

We booked Duck and waffle. It was one of the only ones with a big enough table at the time we needed.

DH and I will try the other ones mentioned on here over the winter too.

Thanks all.
