Bad Amazon delivery driver

FishesWithWishes · 29/09/2021 18:20

So we've obviously got a new person assigned to the area and ever since they've dropped the packages and ran off. Some of the packages are big and heavy and I can't lift them in through the door. The previous drivers were very professional and helped me out. I've reported the issue as the driver isn't waiting for me to even get to the door and doesn't know if I'm even in before taking off in his van! They're not left in my safe space so are on view to thieves.
I've since had a few packages being quoted as undeliverable and I'm wondering if the driver has the ability to mess things up for me now and not deliver the things I order and just say undeliverable? Anyone know if this is possible? I'll be calling them tomorrow to raise my concerns anyway.

Aren't most delivery services still doing contact free? Most of ours drop the parcel by the door, knock and retreat, but only actually move on when they see the door open.

FishesWithWishes · 29/09/2021 18:26

Yep the idiot isn't even doing that he's speeding off down the road as I get to the front door!

I’m having my parcels handed to me, no matter the size. I hope he’s not doing it on purpose OP.

FishesWithWishes · 29/09/2021 18:31

I think he's 18 so probably doesn't give a shit and is too immature to realise I'll get him his job lost if he keeps this up!

Ours leave them on the door, thankfully it's hidden by bushes but still. I hope they don't just leave them on doorsteps on a terraced street for example where the door is on the road!

Kindleswitchface · 29/09/2021 18:39

I used to have one that actually physically threw items from the open window of his moving van.

We had an Amazon depot open by us last year. People I know are drivers for them and TBH I am not surprised by horror stories I hear knowing what these people are like.

FishesWithWishes · 29/09/2021 18:43

@CookPassBabtridge it's set back from the road but you can see the whole door and step from the road and pavement 😠

@Kindleswitchface it just motivates me more to call up and insist he's fired as there are more worthy people out there who would jump at the chance of a job and do it properly.

Just stop ordering from them if you are unhappy with the service

Crikey, "insist that he's fired"?!?

Who do you think you are? (I know what I think...)

SpikeyFloof · 29/09/2021 18:54

Aren't you lovely Hmm

Insist he's fired?!?

You know Amazon delivery people are on a timer, and if they don't deliver the items in time they get in trouble? Poor driver is probably just trying his best to keep up!

YA definitely BU!

Wabola · 29/09/2021 18:57

Poor delivery driver.

Wabola · 29/09/2021 18:59

I do feel sorry for delivery drivers with people like OP who can't wait to be on the phone complaining

29ac · 29/09/2021 18:59

Delivery drivers are under huge pressure to deliver large volumes of parcels in not enough time.
Ringing up to insist he’s fired… wow.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 29/09/2021 19:01

Are you even sure it's the same driver? I get different ones every time, sometimes even two different ones in one day.

WallaceinAnderland · 29/09/2021 19:04

You are expecting the delivery driver to carry your deliveries into your house? That is bang out of order OP.

girlmom21 · 29/09/2021 19:05

Delivery drivers aren't insured to bring items into your home (or upstairs in flats etc) so you're very lucky that others have been willing to do this for you.

DragonDoor · 29/09/2021 19:06

I imagine it’s because he is 18, he doesn’t even consider it takes some people longer to get to the door, or that they might need assistance.

He quite possibly thinks he is doing an efficient job.

GreyhoundG1rl · 29/09/2021 19:07

it just motivates me more to call up and insist he's fired
Yeah, as if that's going to happen Hmm
It's your own problem if you're ordering parcels too heavy for you to lift independently. They're not obliged to carry anything into your house; in fact they'll be advised against doing so.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/09/2021 19:08

lovely

escapeyou · 29/09/2021 19:10

Insist he’s fired? Blimey. What a peach you are.

Don’t order heavy items if you can’t lift them in yourself. Stop being so entitled.

The driver will be heavily timed. Have you any idea what a difficult job being a courier is at the moment?

LizBennet · 29/09/2021 19:10

Yeah the threat of having him fired is a bit much 😳 (Doubt you’ve got the power to do that anyway 😒).

MyDcAreMarvel · 29/09/2021 19:12

It’s a perfectly normal way to deliver parcels.

Akire · 29/09/2021 19:12

I’m in block flats on main road pavement. So anyone can get in walking past if door is open. Amazon Constantly throw them in hallway and then click “left at reception” there is no button to complain you can only pick not delivered , lift in safe place , or with neighbour. We even have signs saying parcel will be stolen yet can’t complain as the problem doesn’t exist on their system.
