Is it chicken pox? I’m so upset

DD is 3 and due to be a flower girl at her aunties wedding at the weekend. She was at nursery with a boy with chicken pox 2 weeks ago exactly. She has the sniffles today and complained to stomachache at lunch. I’ve been Googling and it looks like she’s bang in the middle of the time when the spots might start to show.

She will be so so sad if she can’t go and I will miss my sisters wedding. I’m already feeling gutted and it’s not even definite that she’ll have caught it.

Can you tell me how your little ones first presented with chickenpox? Where did the spots first appear? I’m desperate to hear anything to indicate she might not have it.

My dd had cold symptoms and a fever before her spots appeared. Fingers crossed its just a back to school bug

If as you say she’s got red spots on her legs and she was exposed to CP 2 weeks ago you have to assume it’s CP rather than eczema. Especially if she’s under the weather.

And tbh this cold bug that is going round is awful. If she’s got a cold I really wouldn’t take her to the wedding as if she spreads that around it’s far more unpleasant than your average cold.

Either way I would assume the wedding is off TBH.

Mine had spots that looked like a rash. Saw GP who said he was certain it was viral not chicken pox

He was wrong Confused

Hopefully she doesn’t have CP, although it is sounding quite likely unfortunately.
This may be an unpopular opinion but my DC wasn’t ill with chicken pox - just had spots that weren’t even that itchy. If she does have it and isn’t feeling poorly, could you still go to the wedding if a good friend or relative who has had CP would babysit?

Hope you made it to the wedding

We made it. She still does not appear to have chicken pox and her cold was almost gone by the day. Phew.

Good news Covidiom! Glad you got to go to the wedding

DS is 6 and caught it at primary school last week. We noticed the spots on Friday night before he got into a bath....all over his body back, and torso. Now they are everywhere!

We are confident he has already had chicken pox so this is his second time having it. He has just recovered from norovirus 😫

Hopefully your DD doesn't catch it and she can still be the flower girl 🤞🤞🤞

Oh great news!!🙌

@freshcarnation

If she was exposed 2 weeks ago I'd very much doubt it after all this time
My daughter started with chicken pox exactly 14 days after her brother..

Incubation period is around 1 to 3 weeks.
