Very salty crisp recommendation?

TeamNegan · 16/09/2021 16:58

I’m dying for some very salty crisps and all the crisps seem to be flavourless new and improved lately. Can anyone recommend some good salty ones, preferably salt and vinegar?

Ones I’ve tried that are no good anymore: Pringles (these used to burn my tongue with salt and are now bland??), Kettle Chips, Walkers, Chipsticks

Thanks Smile

Yes to the co- op ones Grin

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 16/09/2021 21:45

@Hobbitch

I love Mackies salt and vinegar, especially the crinkle cut ones.
I have tried all the mackies crisps and can barely tell them apart.....extremely disappointing and bland. Also have a slightly not crisp enough texture, like the bag has not been sealed properly

Another voice praising the Coop Chardonnay vinegar ones, and the Aldi ones too.... both are viciously vinegary and shatteringly crisp, it's like a dangerous sport trying to eat them without melting your face or piercing a tooth.

M&S salt and vinegar large bag( not crinkle cut) are incredible.

Another vote for the co-op salt and chardonnay vinegar. So highly flavoured your tongue furs up

TeamNegan · 16/09/2021 22:49

I’ll check a few more co-ops tomorrow, my husband rang the next two that are local two us so 8 in total and none have them! He got me Tyrells which have satisfied for now. I’m making a list to try them all!

Discos or the Co-op ones.
However, discos from my local Asda always taste bland yet the ones from BP/M&S garage take the roof of my mouth off and literally bring me out sweating

thesootherfairy · 16/09/2021 23:17

M&S do some
Truffle crisps and they are really salty and truffley (not a word)

Highly recommend these.

I'm salivating reading this thread.

Does anyone remember salt and vinegar quavers? They were amaaaazing - so salty!

user1471604848 · 16/09/2021 23:23

@NailsNeedDoing

Salt and vinegar quavers.
Can you still buy these? Where do you get them? I'm in Ireland, so maybe it's just here you can't get them.
TiddyTidTwo · 16/09/2021 23:27

Salt n shake. Eat some first then open the salt packet and enjoy...then lick the bag!

Greentomatoes21 · 16/09/2021 23:34

Coop salt and vinegar - incredible. But they haven't been on the shelves here in Northern Ireland for weeks!! Having withdrawal symptoms. Anyone else found the same?

I keep worrying that someone will complain about the after effects of the lining of your mouth peeling off - as if that's a bad thing! - and that Coop will withdraw them for health and safety reasons. And now people are saying they can't find them . . .

If the Coop ever do try to discontinue them, please can we get together and organise a protest demonstration?

TeamNegan · 17/09/2021 00:07

@user1471604848 they recently bought them back out, they were gone for a long long time. I don’t live in IN but I eventually found them in big Sainsburys, not every supermarket seems to sell them. I didn’t find them very salty though!

TeamNegan · 17/09/2021 00:08

@StellaAndCrow I haven’t even had them yet and I’ll join the protest! I’m fed up OG nice things being removed from the shelves or “improved” by completely removing the flavour

Pringles have gone downhill, I used to love their salt & vinegar flavour but now there seem to be batches with no taste.

Zeal · 17/09/2021 00:53

Pipers salted. Get one of the tubs delivered to your door. Size of a small bucket.

Full. Off. Crisps.

Straight from the farm in Lincolnshire. It’s like having all those small crispy ‘chiplings’ in the bottom of the paper when you have fish and chips. Crisps on steroids.

BreadInCaptivity · 17/09/2021 01:23

After this thread I bought two Blushpacks of the co-op crisps.

I knew l loved them but my goodness they are sooo good.

Is this hoarding? They are all mine.

vampirethriller · 17/09/2021 08:24

Piper's crisps are all brilliant actually.

Perhaps you should post a pack to the OP 😆

I love your husband's commitment to the cause. It will be worth it when you finally get your hands on them Grin

vampirethriller · 17/09/2021 11:46

I've just tried the coop ones and they're good but Lidl are better.

Williamshatnershorses · 17/09/2021 11:51

Co-op sea salt and Chardonnay vinegar are the best.
-Then hula hoop flavarings
—- Then Discos

I have undertaken EXTENSIVE research on this matter 🤣

Williamshatnershorses · 17/09/2021 11:53

@ThursdayLastWeek

Deffo the co-op ones, although they’ve been absent the last few times I went to get some
I can’t get them either at the moment! Sad times.
Baxdream · 17/09/2021 11:57

Easy:

Discos
McCoy's chip shop salt and vinegar although I can't find these anymore 🤦‍♀️

Monsteraobliqua · 17/09/2021 12:09

You want McCoy's or Coop, if you can't get Coop, try lidl's posh ones. You'll also want a bottle of wine to wash those down as they're pretty salty, just letting you know now to save your DH an entra trip!
