How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Just being nosey really!

How many hours do you average?

What does your routine look like?

Do you feel it's enough?

Do you sleep well?

How many hours do you think you need vs what you get.

Now that my DC are a bit older (4 and 7) I'm getting about 7-8 hours a night.

I'm usually asleep by 11.30/12 and I'm up at 7/7.30

It's not enough, but that's my fault as I end up on Mumsnet instead of sleeping 🤪. I always wake up very tired. Amazing, considering I used to get about 5-6 hours very disturbed sleep and awake at 6am for the day without too much fuss!

I sleep quite well. I'm a heavy sleeper but one of the DC quite often ends up in with us which disturbs us slightly.

I think for me, I need about 9-10 hours sleep a night to feel totally refreshed by morning

About 8 hours. I eat dinner at about 9pm, sit and watch TV downstairs until roughly 11 and then go up to bed and watch another episode or 2! Even though I get plenty of sleep, I wake up tired and don't feel like it's enough. Maybe I sleep too much!

MissCruellaDeVil · 12/09/2021 23:50

I try to get 8 hours a night, 9 on weekends, unfortunately I'm a bit of an insomniac and up in 6 hours!

username00 · 12/09/2021 23:54

2-5 hours a night for 18 months now. I seem to have adapted to it now and it's no longer as hard, although I have no short term memory function anymore

A solid 9 hours a night pre baby. Anything from 4 to 7 hours a night now little man is 21mo. This is a huge improvement in the 3 to 5 hours of his first year. Coffee is my friend.

namechanged221 · 12/09/2021 23:56

6 hours. I often wake up at 5am but I'm in peri-meno now so assume everything is normal

Tulips15 · 12/09/2021 23:56

5.5- 6hrs
7 at most.

Im always tired

Plump82 · 12/09/2021 23:58

About 5 hrs and this is usually broken sleep. I'm a terrible sleeper in that I can't get to sleep and also can't stay asleep.

Strokethefurrywall · 13/09/2021 00:11

Between 8-9 hrs pretty much every night.
My kids were decent sleepers for the most part, and now they’re 10&7 so I have to drag them out of bed at 6.30am to get ready for school, despite them getting 11 hours!

confettiballoons · 13/09/2021 00:14

7, broken? On a v good night once to feed the baby, on a bad night 3 or 4 times to feed the baby and an hour awake with the toddler at 3am 🤪

Elouera · 13/09/2021 00:16

7-8hrs- early 40's, no children.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 13/09/2021 00:18

Well I'm still up and the alarm will go off at 6:15am... I'm regularly getting 5-6 hours and I'm permanently exhausted. I think it's called revenge bedtime procrastination.

RoseMartha · 13/09/2021 00:28

5-7 averaging on 6

Some nights 4

Very occasionally 7-8.

I really need more. One of my teens has asd and sleep issues which means I am usually awake too as she will wake me up.

Icanflyhigh · 13/09/2021 00:44

Between 3-5 hours most nights.
No it's not enough, I need a solid 8, but I get into bed and can't sleep.

Loubiemoo · 13/09/2021 00:46

2-5 hours and it’s killing me.

Pebbledashery · 13/09/2021 00:49

Between 3 to 6 hours currently. Tonight will be a 3 hour night.. Shattered but wide awake thinking of all the stuff that worries me.

Mumshappy · 13/09/2021 00:49

A maximum of 4 usually. I have a nap after work for about a hour or so due to exhaustion. The insomnia is better than it was.

Labracadabradoodle · 13/09/2021 01:12

Between 3 and 6. I work nights and many things keep me from sleeping.
I stay awake for 36 hrs on my day (night) off as I don't want to 'waste' it sleeping.
Wouldn't recommend it tbh.

TheWindow · 13/09/2021 01:28

I need 8-10 hours to feel refreshed.

I usually get around 6-7 hours during the week, but make up for it on the weekend with 10-12 hours. Kids are teens, so they don’t keep me awake anymore, at least.

Although in the last few weeks, following the death of someone close to me, my sleep is messed up. I’m currently wide awake at 1.30am after going to bed at 10pm and failing to fall asleep. Have to be up at 5am Sad.

Hen2018 · 13/09/2021 01:42

About 4. I didn’t sleep through the night until I was 35.

I’m an appalling sleeper. Luckily I’m so used to it that I just feel ever so slightly tired all the time. I’ve literally never nodded off or had a nap in the day.

StewPots · 13/09/2021 01:45

Usually about 4-5, but at the moment I’ve had 3 hours max a night for a week and I’m exhausted and struggling. I do find Sominex helps but I only take it on a weekend when there’s no school run etc.

Insomnia really does suck balls.

flightofthewilderbeast · 13/09/2021 01:49

Usually no more than 6 hours, and often less. My night is usually broken at least once, not by kids or anything- just bad sleep. Struggle to sleep beyond 5.30/6am no matter what time I go to bed. I am used to only this amount of sleep and function on it but am tired and often wonder how much more up and on it I would be if I got a regular 7 hours.

HungryHippo11 · 13/09/2021 02:06

I'm asleep by 11 and up at 7. But my 18 month old still wakes 2 to 3 time a night so it is always broken sleep and I would like more!!

Autumn101 · 13/09/2021 02:16

At the moment 4ish hours of broken sleep - I can’t remember the last time I went more than 2 hours without waking. In a horrid bout of insomnia at the moment and I’m so tired and fed up!

When I’m not in a bad phase it’s 7 hours in a 4 hour and 3 hour chunk with about an hour awake in between - that leaves me feeling very refreshed

PileOfBooks · 13/09/2021 02:21

Wow in awe of those slswping 7-8 hours. My body hasnt done that since Ive had children. And those waking up 7.30. Again since kids not sure mine have ever both slept in... also we have to leave for school by 8 so couldn't!

Kanaloa · 13/09/2021 02:38

Probably 6 or 7 hours, usually very broken. DS8 sleeps badly and will wake me up multiple times, as well as taking a long time to fall asleep. Often I can get him back to sleep within a half hour but then I’m up and struggle to fall back off. Then DD5 is up bright and early every single morning. So sometimes ds8 has just gone back off at 4.30am and dd5 and I are having a cup of tea and watching telly at 5.30.

At the weekend when DH is not working and I am, he gets the kids up and down. Usually I go to bed early on these days and get about 9 hours - I feel well rested and happy when I get about this.
