Aldi favourites thread!

Despite shopping at Aldi for years I keep discovering new products.

This week it's cheesy hash browns (filled with cheese! A meal in themselves) and sea salt and lime tortilla chips- Both delicious.

Also over the summer, I discovered the specially selected sea salt and caramel ice cream stick were a particular hit. And the zx cola and Pringle dupes are better that the origjnals.

What are your favoured Aldi treats that I need to try next?

@Lizlou85

The butternut squash and bacon tinned soup. Original Pringles Crisps Choc ums Mint viennetta on a stick Mint and lemon fizzy drink Their fizzy flavour waters Hoops cereal
Yes that soup is lovely - do you think it smells a bit like chicken soup?
nahnahnahnahnahyeh · 25/09/2021 21:39

The tiramisu (in fridge section) is sooo delicious.
Face cream is great too and very cheap!

CourgetteGlutTony · 25/09/2021 21:47

Moser Roth chocolate is shite.

The black pepper crackers are lovely, I go to Aldi just to buy those

PathOfLeastResitance · 25/09/2021 23:01

The butter in the black wrapper. I use crackers merely as a vehicle to get slabs of it in my mouth.

darklindor · 25/09/2021 23:24

DH loves the cherry cider in bottles and is a big fan of the occasional ready meal for £1 79. I like the rhubarb and rose hand wash.

Friendofdennis · 26/09/2021 07:49

Thank you everyone for your contributions I love Aldi and Lidl and do my main shop in these places. I was so disappointed when the summer special mini lemon and raspberry roulades stopped. But last night I tried the new lemon posset in glass ramekins for 99p. They were so creamy and delicious. I agree with many of the suggestions on here

LouLou198 · 26/09/2021 07:58

Chocolate buttons, Thai red curry kit, sweet chilli hummus.

sofakingcool · 26/09/2021 08:14

Stir fry kits - Chinese chicken etc
Tempura chicken gougons
Yogurts - glass farmhouse jars (rasp or lemon)
Sandwich meat - marinated particular favs in our house
Biscuits - half coated cookies, jive, party rings
Crisps - premium cheese and onion , teddy faces
Bread - focaccia (great in panini press), part baked, tiger bread , sour dough toastie is gorgeous!
Freezer - flatbread pizzas, sour dough pizzas, skin on fries (amazing!), ice cream, "biscoff" ice cream stick

Golden yoke eggs, strawberry and rhubarb jam (amazing on the toastie bread), black wrapper butter

Loo rolls, tin foil, dishwasher tablets

mrsbyers · 26/09/2021 08:18

Fish burgers
Yellow bag fries
Their version of marmite is better than the brand for me
Mini vienettas

Those are the things we make a special trip for as usually shop at Lidl

KateyKontent · 26/09/2021 17:48

We have the tempura chicken as tacos.

Q10 face cream is fab.

Chicken Tikka Marsala (luxury version/ is what we have instead of a takeaway. It is exactly the same as the m&s version.

Thai sweet chilli sensations own brand are much more spicy than the brand version.

Halo version ice creams and coconut ice lollies are lovely.

Window1 · 26/09/2021 17:55

Great thread and Aldi really is wonderful !

BodgertheJogger · 26/09/2021 18:07

Home style fries oven chips taste like Wetherspoons chips which pleases me hugely

likeacandleinthewind · 26/09/2021 18:43

I love Aldi, buy black box stuff mostly so I don’t necessarily save £££, although I wouldn’t buy some of the stuff I do at other shop prices.

Lobster Mac & cheese is gorgeous, individual tubs of posh ice cream, butter chicken, lasagne and fish pie all in the black box - gorgeous.

I shop between Aldi (70%), M&S and Waitrose. Have shaved 35% off my food bill since discovering Aldi.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 26/09/2021 19:11

Velvety Rose perfume smells very like Tom Ford Cafe Rose which I was about to buy again, only it’s £5.99. I love it and it lasts ages on me.

MsMiaWallace · 28/09/2021 11:59

Usually get Sainsbury's deliveries but they've been disappointing recently & they're not doing the double up on Nectar points this year!!
Do buy the odd bits from Aldi & have shopped there before.
Thinking of going back to main shop at Aldi.

Things I love:
Fruit & nut/pretzel chocolate. (Pretty much all their chocolate!)
Bloomer bread
Greek yoghurts
Candy floss grapes
Biscuit spread
Nutoka
Crackers
Sandwich meats
Pizza's- the cheap ones!
Tea bags

Offmyfence · 28/09/2021 23:10

Their candies, in particular Rose Noir!

PurpleDaisies · 28/09/2021 23:13

I really like their ground coffee.

Window1 · 29/09/2021 07:03

I like that you can be in and out really quickly unlike some of the large supermarkets with a whole aisle just for condiments.

Aldi middle aisle beauty stuff is great. Hair mask, face cleanser, toner, serum, and more.

Marmite27 · 29/09/2021 07:15

*Moser Roth Sea Salt Dark Chocolate

*Silver bottle washing up liquid and the £2.50 for 30 dishwasher tablets

*Finest hand cooked crisps. We could only get the prawn cocktail ones at Christmas so I’m sad to hear a PP could get them year round

*Finest sour dough pizzas

*Fake Pringles

*Meaty sticks and mini satay sticks

*decaf tea bags

*tiger bloomer loaf

*Finest brioche hot dog and burger rolls

*Black label tinned chopped tomatoes, passata, tomato purée and garlic purée

*mini chicken fillets, both cooked/flavoured from the fridge and raw, we barely use whole breast now. I usually chop breasts up anyway so this saves time.

byvirtue · 29/09/2021 08:05

I switch between Aldi & Ocado favourites are:

Manchego cheese
Filet Steak
Chorizo
Parma Ham
Lobster Mac & cheese
Wagyu burgers
Maple Syrup
Nuts: walnuts, pistachios, almonds, cashews etc
Organic apple cider vinegar
chia seeds
flaxseed
Chocolate nut bars with sea salt
Lentil crisps
Dishwasher tablets
Passion fruit mochi
Seeded flatbreads
Greek yogurt
Mini Dark Chocolate bars
Curry Sauces with spices in the lid
Wine is not bad if you keep above £6 a bottle

Not keen on:
Aldi ketchup
Aldi crumpets
Falafel
Hummus

I tend to stick to their higher end stuff and even then it’s easily half the price of Ocado/m&s

MsMiaWallace · 29/09/2021 10:53

Is anyone buying an Aldi Christmas hamper this year?

Darklane · 29/09/2021 15:48
