DS1 is almost 13. He's spent the summer pondering his future.

He's decided he wants to be a flight attendant. He has looked into entry requirements for a few different airlines and has told me his plan going forward.

He's going to continue learning German as an extra language will come in handy, do travel and tourism at college followed by tourism management at the local uni before applying for jobs.

He's been reading up accounts from actual flight attendants and absolutely loves the idea. I've never seen him so enthusiastic about a career before.

DS1 (10) wants to be an engineer. Probably civil engineering given his fascination with bridges/road/rail infrastructure (he has ASD and this is a years long interest). He says if this doesn't work out, he wants to be a train driver.

DS2 (8) isn't sure, but has previously wanted to be both a palaeontologist and a zookeeper.

DD (14) wants to do something with art/illustration. She's pretty good and works hard at it

ISpyCobraKai · 05/09/2021 13:06

Dd20 a Bioscientist, she's studying it currently.

hels71 · 05/09/2021 13:10

DD is 13 and wants to be a choreographer and own her own theatre company.

Echobelly · 05/09/2021 13:13

Oldest (13) wants to go into medicine - they're not sure what specialism and every now and then worry they're not good enough at science (they're not the best, but they are good enough) and we back them in that and they are planning for future exams to fit around requirements for medicine.

DS is just turned 10 so more interested in minecraft and Dragonball Z!

MrsBungle · 05/09/2021 13:17

Dd 12 wants to be a pilot. Failing that, a barrister.

Ds wants to be a footballer (highly unlikely, bless him!)

AudreyTattoo · 05/09/2021 13:19

DD (6 years old), wanted to be a chef until recently. Now she wants to be a singer (despite hating music and dance classes with a passion)!

BlueFrog21 · 05/09/2021 13:26

DS 9 wants to be a YouTuber Hmm

DS 12 wants to join the Police

trumpisagit · 05/09/2021 13:26

DS2 very clear he wants to be a marine biologist, and we went to the aquarium at his instigation today.

DS1 (14) has no idea and gets annoyed if people ask him but he has compuer science type interests.

badlydrawnbear · 05/09/2021 13:28

DC1 is 10 and doesn't know.
DC2 is 6 and wants to work in a pet shop.

Simonjt · 05/09/2021 13:33

My son (6) wants to be a dancer or a bin man, but a bin man who has the lorry that empties industrial bins, not residential wheelie bins, ideally the lorry would also be green.

AlexaShutUp · 05/09/2021 13:37

DD 13 wants to be a teacher as DGM is a retired one and advising her wrongly

I'd much prefer DD to go into product design as she's very hands on and arty

WhenTheDragonsCame · 05/09/2021 13:45

DD13 isn't sure what she wants to do but has mentioned acting. She did want to be a model for a while but has now accepted it is very unlikely she will be tall enough.

DD11 wants to be a police officer at the moment. She did want to be a teacher but was put off when someone told her how hard it is.

cultkid · 05/09/2021 13:49

My 5 year old wants to be a fisherman

He can't swim
Doesn't like deep water 🤣

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/09/2021 13:53

8yo DS wants to be a vet. He's good at maths and science but hates writing. He loves animals but gets upset when they are hurt so not sure how he'd cope as a vet!

Second career choice is a YouTuber, naturally.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2021 14:04

From about age 3 DD said she wanted to 'build things'. (Not buildings). At 6 in a 'what do you want to be when you grow up' lesson she said ' a builder' ... her teacher informed her girls can't be builders.Hmm
Anyway, she refined her ambition during secondary school and 16 years on she's about to start her first job as an electronics design engineer. Building things.Grin

Motherofalittledragon · 05/09/2021 14:26

DD1 wants to be a large animal vet

Dd11 wants to do something centred around children but isn’t sure what!

Abraxan · 05/09/2021 16:13

Dd has wanted to be a primary school teacher for as long as I can remember. All her work experience from being 11/12y has been school and/or education based. At 19y she has just completed her first year on a primary education degree :)

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/09/2021 16:16
