I need some inspiration. Don’t fancy a roast, but want something a bit more special than we would have in the week.
Any ideas welcome, and links to recipes please!

We're having roast turkey legs and what ever veg DH can find. I do the gravy.

Antinerak · 05/09/2021 13:44

Lunch was grilled cheese with soup, dinner will be sweet chili noodles with chicken and veg. CBA with a roast in this heat. About to leave to do a big shop so may just end up with a few bowls of snacks and picky bits.

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 05/09/2021 13:50

I’ve got a chilli in the slow cooker.

This is a good recipe if you fancy something spicy - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/pork-aubergine-noodle-stir-fry

Last day of the summer holidays here, final year of school for my two so it’s really the end of the school hols as we know it, we’re going out with a family favourite a BBB breakfast bar buffet

I’m making homemade pizza and dough balls (we’re coeliac and vegetarian) lots of sides, onion rings mozzarella dippers salad and coleslaw fries with homemade dips so they can graze happily on fave foods

Going out for dinner with DH and Dd.
My sister, bil, niece are joining us.
I'll be having 3 courses, a bottle of wine and NO dishes to do 🍷🍷

ISpyCobraKai · 05/09/2021 16:08

Ooh, where are you going @ParkheadParadise ?
I'm always looking for Glasgow recommendations as Dd lives there and I'm not a million miles away.

Auntienumber8 · 05/09/2021 16:42

I BBQ rump steaks and sweet corn, made some potato salad and had a mixed salad and olive selection.

vampirethriller · 05/09/2021 17:08

Leftover chicken jalfrezi with courgettes, leftover boiled new potatoes and green beans all stir fried in coconut oil with Chinese salt and pepper seasoning.

hashbrownsandwich · 05/09/2021 17:13

Meatballs and spaghetti. Not a conventional Sunday but we love it in this house.

Babyroobs · 05/09/2021 17:27

We are having roast chicken and apple sponge pudding for afters as we have a lot of Bramley apples to use up.

ParkheadParadise · 05/09/2021 17:28

@ISpyCobraKai
We are going to Dalmeny Park Hotel in Barrhead. My niece is getting married there next month. I'm going to check the booze is up to my standard in case I need to bring my own in my handbag 😂😂😂😂.
I have been for lunch and afternoon tea before and it was lovely.

ISpyCobraKai · 05/09/2021 17:32

I'll check out the website.
(I'd take booze in my bag too!)
I've never been to Barrhead, I need to explore areas more.
I've spent a bit of time in Renfrew and Govan this summer, and am up and down to Springburn all the time as Dd lives there.

MissyB1 · 05/09/2021 17:34

Tomato and marscapone risotto.

gingercat02 · 05/09/2021 17:35

We’re having various shop bought salads with cold meats and cheeses - my favourite meal on a hot day!

PinkTonic · 05/09/2021 17:49

We are having steak and chips with bearnaise sauce, mushrooms and watercress followed by plum crumble from our garden glut.

OldTinHat · 05/09/2021 17:52

I've been batch cooking all day. I've now lost the will to live so am eating a bag of Wotsits for my tea! 😂

ParkheadParadise · 05/09/2021 18:05

@ISpyCobraKai
I recently had lunch at Mahony's Steak House in Bishopbriggs not far from Springburn.

ISpyCobraKai · 05/09/2021 18:19

I'll definitely look that up.
We love The Butcher Shop Steakhouse in the West End but its so expensive.

chocolateorangeinhaler · 05/09/2021 18:24

We were having roast pork with all the trimmings. But it's too hot so the meats in but will have a pulled pork roll with a bit of crackling instead, with apple sauce too.
