40 flamingo things

It's my little sister's 40th at the end of Sept.
I'm one of 4 sisters (and a brother who keeps out of the way!) and we are clubbing together for a day out to celebrate - meal, event etc, but we all do something individual as well.

I want to get her 40 flamingo things; maybe one or two things up to a tenner or so and then a bunch of stuff (bookmark, pen, lip balm, candles, that sort of thing).

All idea welcome - daft or otherwise.

Why are so many of you jumping on the tat band wagon?

Do you own a bookmark? A candle? A lip balm? A pen?

Is it different if you buy 40 small items in one go rather than over a period of time?

I don’t own a bookmark but the following - A candle? A lip balm? A pen? are all of a luxury standard and not from a Poundshop bargain bin.

Sorry op I agree with the others. Of the things you list I own a pen. None of the other things. And I'd hate to get a load of plastic/ cheap stuff made in China. I think
the best presents are genuinely useful. Or even better, consumable.

I think OP knows her own sister! I love flamingo stuff and would be thrilled with this sort of stuff and would make use of it.

Same here. For my 40th I wanted 1 special present that I could keep for years.

40 crappy cheapo things compared to one nice thoughtful thing - no contest at all.

Would you honestly want 40 items depicting a flamingo that cost a few quid here and there or would you not prefer one or 2 lovely quality presents with the £150 odd quid all the smaller gifts cost?

You could use the flamingo things money to buy her a flamingo tree? They have really pretty pink blossom and cost around £60 for a good size one.

You can do flamingoes without buying tat.

e.g. one beautiful piece of flamingo themed art for £100 vs 40 flamingo things costing a quid or so each.

A nice posh lip balm or candle can be lovely. But a £2 one is not a treat.

Can you sponser a flamingo at a zoo or a wildlife park near her or something? I don't know how much that would cost though.

40 things wouldn't be my choice either but the OP didnt ask that, she asked for suggestions. Not sure how some of you go from her wanting to do something nice for her sister to subtly hating her!

I do not have any anything flamingo themed in my home but I’m not going to lie, whilst searching for tat for the op (notice how she never thanked anyone for the product suggestions) I came across this and want to mount it on the inside of a guest bathroom door!

It's not sneery or mean to consider whether someone wouldn't want 40 pieces of tat. I don't know anyone who would be happier with 40 presents all brought to fit a generic theme than 1 or 2 presents purchased because you knew the recipient would like them.

Second the idea of a flamingo tree- I have one and it's the most beautiful thing in my garden! I also have a lovely flamingo plant stand - that doubles as an Ice bucket when needed!

I don't think it's mean to disagree with someone as long as you do it with respect.

I do think that even if she loves flamingoes, or it's a well loved in-joke, 40 small cheap flamingo items are too much. She's going to have trouble assimilating her face into surprise/ pleasure once she's opening present number 29, 30, 31. I think the flamingo tree and flamingo outfit are both brilliant though!
