We have a range cooker so two ovens, a grill and 8 burners. We are a family of five. The spare oven is helpful at times, but in honesty is rarely used.

Kinsters · 19/08/2021 08:34

I have one oven and wish I had a second often enough that when we re-do the kitchen I'll get two. I wouldn't go two full size though - I like the idea of main oven plus smaller combi oven.

I wouldn't get a hot tap but then I don't have a kettle either. If hot water is needed I just boil it on the hob...

LemonRoses · 19/08/2021 08:38

Two is good. It allows for entertaining and having things cook simultaneously at different temperatures. It also gives more oven space. You don’t use them both all the time, but very helpful when you do have something on.

Probably only if you cook properly regularly. Then things like being able to put Christmas cake in one whilst pizza for supper is in the other is good.

LemonRoses · 19/08/2021 08:39

We have a three oven Aga plus a fan oven. They all get used.

mafted · 19/08/2021 08:40

We have two ovens and a boiling water tap.
I use both ovens a lot, there's six of us though and we entertain frequently.

The boiling water tap is brilliant IMO. I wouldn't be without it. It's so convenient for cooking and cleaning as well as drinks.
The unit does take up a lot of space under the sink and there is the ongoing cost of filters too.
Our tap was a freebie though so maybe that seats my judgement.

I love my Qooker and love my double oven. It's a smaller one with grill over a bigger one, and both are equally grubby used.

Two adults, supposed to be an empty nest but adult DD currently living here. We do cook quite a bit.

The Qooker has been fab since it went in 8 ½ years ago; we've had it serviced just once since then. I will never be without a boiling water tap again.

I would not consider going back to one oven now. It is so useful having 2. Small one is useful for doing something small when heating up the whole large oven would use a lot more electricity and take lo ger to heat up. We also use the grill a lot. Large oven for roasts etc. Really useful at Christmas to have both on the go. Also I am veggie and rest of family are not so we sometimes cook two versions of e.g. lasagne or do a roast in one oven and a nut roast or something in the other. Or just when doing things that require 2 different temps. We do a lot of baking including bread so that's really useful for us.

beautifullymad · 19/08/2021 08:56

I have a fairly decent large Neff double oven and it just about serves me well. On occasions about once every 8 weeks I could do with two full sized ovens (mine is a large +
a half sized).

If I'm cooking a roast for 6-8 I use both ovens. Day to day I use just one. If it's just two of us I use the smaller one as it's cheaper to heat.

I couldn't go back to a single oven but having two completely separate single ovens probably wouldn't be so different from a large capacity double oven.

A friend of mine had two single Neff ovens in a housing, one above the other and she found this useful although I still prefer my double oven.

Rabblesthecat · 19/08/2021 09:01

I have three neff ovens - two single slide and hide steam ones plus a microwave oven.

Have a Quooker tap also

Also have three different ninjas!

I have a quooker in a hard water area. It is utterly brilliant! Hands down my favourite gadget in the house. Would never have a kettle again! Put it in about 8 years ago and it went wrong for the first time about 3 months ago. Engineer came out pronto and all fixed.

Having inherited the kitchen with the house, I have, wait for it....7 ovens!! Big aga, range cooker, micro, steam..... It’s crazy, I know, but it does make cooking Christmas lunch an absolute doddle!!

SimonJT · 19/08/2021 09:09

We have a range, so two ovens, one is large and squareish, the other tall and narrow (perfect oven tray size, so much so our oven trays can be used as the shelf). We love it, you can fit loads in and both cook very evenly, I also like the large hob, which is harder to get as a stand alone hob.

We have a quooker as well, its brilliant. I’ve also had a pot tap installed, it is cold fed, but its brilliant as my husband cant lift a full pan, so it means he can cook somethings alone.

RageAgainstTheNahCantBeArse · 19/08/2021 09:22

We have a quooker, we are in a very hard water area and it needs servicing once every two years. We absolutely love it though. Hands down our favourite thing in the kitchen. We have an oven and a microwave combi-oven thing. I do miss having two proper ovens.

Why? Do you run a food kitchen for the homeless or something?
minipie · 19/08/2021 09:39

We have two ovens. Second one doesn’t get used a huge amount but for the times we do use it, it would be a real pain not to have it iyswim.

We are hard water (London) and have Quooker Flex with scale filter. The scale filter is a bit annoying, it’s expensive and needs replacing reasonably often. I absolutely love the Quooker flex though.

Rabblesthecat · 19/08/2021 10:45

@Soontobe60

Why? Because I love gadgets and because I can.

No other reason.

ineedaholidayandwine · 19/08/2021 11:08

We've got 2 ovens and it's very handy for when we're entertaining or cooking things that need different temperatures. They are side by side shoulder height and have slide and hide doors
We have an insinkerator kitchen tap that has a boiling water function, it's connected to a heating tank under the sink and water flows through a filter, i LOVE it! drinks are faster and we also use it when needing water for pasta rather than waiting for it come to the boil on the hob.
These were all here when we moved in.
If i moved tomorrow i'd have the same set up fitted

I have the identical set up :-D
Anjo2011 · 19/08/2021 11:15

Two ovens here after recent refit. Top one is a microwave/combi oven and bottom conventional. Absolutely love them. Like that I have no separate microwave taking up space on the worktop and
Also the convenience of cooking stuff on different temperatures. We toyed with the idea of a hot water tap but we don’t have a need
For that much instant boiling water so decided against it.

Were you having the asparagus for breakfast?

Fair enough. Ive got a stick blender, a broken slow cooker and I’ve just discovered that my 4 year old microwave is a grill and convection oven too!!! 🤣

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 19/08/2021 11:22

I have 2 ovens, no-brainer if you ask me. I couldn't go back to one oven.

I also have a hot-tap (not Quooker) and i had thought it was a frill but it's out of action for the past 3 day and I MISS IT SO MUCH, so now I would say, yes, I love it and if you can, get one.

As an aside @Rabblesthecat do you like your thermomix? And is it worth it? I've coveted one for a few years now but wonder is it worth it. Apologies everyone, I realise this is prob a thread to itself.

Ginghamglitter · 19/08/2021 11:37

I have two sage electric-ovens and I love, love, love them! They are slightly smaller than a normal sized oven but they cope with most things size wise. The only mishap we’ve had was with a turkey that wouldn’t squeeze in but we halved it using meat scissors and had two separate and delicious dinners instead of one! 😂

We got the first one originally as a stop gap because the ancient built in oven in our kitchen died on us but replacing it opened a huge can of electrical worms! The wiring in our place is dreadful and needs a complete overhaul but we have neither the time or money to tackle it right now. The Sage is a stand alone that sits on the worktop doesn’t overpower our dodgy circuits and it cooks everything beautifully- cakes, roasts, toast you name it. We have the second oven in our pantry and I find it really useful for doing roast spuds or puddings on while the main dish is cooking in the kitchen. If you want a second oven without committing to a large amount of kitchen space I highly recommend them!

cleckheatonwanderer · 19/08/2021 12:17

I have the samsung dual cook which is a single oven but with a divider that means you can have the top and bottom of the oven at different temps, or remove it if you want the whole oven at the same temp.

Also have a micro/grill.

NameChange74567 · 19/08/2021 16:17

I have a double oven, the only time I've used both at the same time is Christmas day. We're a family of 5.
