I’ve left a bin….

In the house for 9 days, partially uncovered and full of chicken, milk cartons, bits of cooked salmon, etc.

What will I find when I return tonight?! Bit worried but didn’t expect to be away this long!

OP posts:

I think you might have maggots.

I once found some cat food that one of ours had hidden. Probably only been there five days. It had maggots 🤢

It’ll be okay if they’ve not hatched into flies, just bagged up straight into bin outside and give the kitchen bin a good bleach.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 18/08/2021 14:34

This thread 😫

But I am invested now and will need to keep checking

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/08/2021 14:42

Did I miss something???

Pebbledashery · 18/08/2021 14:42

The suspense is killing me..

ripplestitchblank · 18/08/2021 14:54

Probably maggots in the bin and lots of flies.

I'd run in, breathe through your mouth only. Grab the bin/bin bag, run outside with it, tie it up once your outside and there's fresh air/breeze, chuck it all in the black bin.

Then go back in, tentatively sniff, it'll probably be fine, open all windows and clean everything.

theemmadilemma · 18/08/2021 15:02

I'm going to need to know.

I vote maggots.

MostlyNormalSometimesOdd · 18/08/2021 15:06

@FuckingFlumps

Anyone who says your house will be full of maggots or flies inside a week simply doesn’t know what they’re talking about

Its incredibly likely that the flies had already laid eggs in the bin before the OP left the house especially if it was routinely left uncovered. I really hope then only thing waiting for her was a horrid smell but it seems very unlikely.

Whatever, let’s just disregard the biological impossibility of there being anything other than first stage larvae in the bin and terrify OP shall we?
cultkid · 18/08/2021 15:09

I kind of jumped to the conclusion the only reason you would leave a bin like that is because you were in hospital literally

Sorry

Anonanon1234 · 18/08/2021 15:10

Also invested. Wouldn't have been pretty, that's for sure Sad

KurtWilde · 18/08/2021 15:53

@cultkid

I would buzz and tell the nurse on duty I wonder if there is something anyone can arrange for you

Are you even going to be fit enough to clean up

tbh if it hasn't been that warm and windows and doors were shut it might just stink xx

???
Parentingdilemmas · 18/08/2021 16:33

I think the OP really has moved on

Pebbledashery · 18/08/2021 16:49

Op has been eaten by whatever the bin produced. Not coming back.

myotherusernameistaken · 18/08/2021 17:19

Really?

You can't think of a single other reason that the OP was called away and didn't get home as soon as she thought she would?

and what on earth do you imagine that a nurse would be able to do that the OP can't?

feb2022 · 18/08/2021 17:22

@Pebbledashery 😂😂😂😂

Shallwegoforawalk · 19/08/2021 13:27

Shariotlion · 19/08/2021 13:36

Along with a few maggots and flies 😁
GinWithLime · 19/08/2021 21:06

I need to know what happened Grin

jelly79 · 19/08/2021 21:13

Never have I wanted a thread updating so much

BarefootHippieChick · 19/08/2021 23:04

At this rate we're going to have to ask mumsnet to intervene and contact the OP...just to make sure she's alive and well, obviously 😁
