I am determined to stick to y meal plan this week. I need to be more frugal.

Tonight - Poached chicken with vegetables (I am trying a proper poule au pot).

Tomorrow- Freezer surprise (which I think will mean salmon and veg for me and pizza for the DCs)

Tuesday - Tuna fishcakes with peas and honey sesame carrots

Wednesday - corn chowder

Thursday- freezer surprise

Friday - Roast beef with all trimmings.

I am also planning on buying mini marshmallows and glace cherries and squirty cream to make ice cream banana sundaes.

mmmmmm.

@FizzyPink thanks. I'll give it a go but will up it. Sounds tasty!

BlueLobelia · 08/08/2021 11:01

Just as a slight derail ... does anyone have any nice easy first courses? I'd quite like to make a first course as standard to our usual Sunday roast. Today I am thinking prawn and avocado cocktail. Other than that and melon and ham I am stumped!

Tonight: take away (to be decided but probably pizza)
Monday: bolognese (batch cooked so just needs defrosting)
Tuesday: breaded chicken breast with balsamic new potatoes and salad
Wednesday: diced pork marinated in soy, garlic, onion and ginger with rice and veg.
Thursday: sausage meatballs
Friday: jacket spuds (with Greek salad or beans for kids)

We go away Saturday so I'm not being too adventurous this week.

Today - DH cooking a pie or something
Monday - stuffed peppers and salad
Tuesday - salmon, spicy rice and green veg
Wednesday - chicken arabiatta & parmesan dumplings
Thursday - omellete, baked beans and jacket potato
Friday - chicken, chorizo & leek risotto
Saturday - no idea.

BlueLobelia · 08/08/2021 12:28

I love pie.

When I was in Australia years ago the local bakery sold homemade creamy curried scallop (pastry) pies. I might put that into my regular rotation, because Aldi sell fabulous fozen scallops.

slices of Mozzarella with slices of good quality ripe tomatoes, shredded basil and a drizzle of olive oil, you could add a small dollop of pesto.

Could you tell me what the app is you are using for your meal plan please?[/quote]
Hi, it’s Microsoft To Do.

I’m on iPhone and DH is android and we needed one that worked between both of us - so we have a shared shopping list and shared meal plan lists. The person you invite has to have the app, then you just send an invite via WhatsApp etc. We find it really useful.

Marmite27 · 08/08/2021 15:30

@Stealthynamechange - se above Smile

My little ones like grass soup…

(Leek and Potato!)

We’ve also had mini haddock and cheddar Fishcakes on leaves, mozzarella sticks or chicken tender strips.

My favourite is chicken and bacon salad with balsamic drizzle.

We don’t often have a started tbh, but these go down well when we do, they’re stolen from nice meals out we’ve had so try to remember anything from those you liked Smile

I usually do this @BlueLobelia it's so simple and everyone always loves it...

Today: Richmond veggie sausages, mash, broccoli, leeks and sweetcorn (with gravy)

Monday: chicken and chickpea curry (with added spinach) with rice

Tuesday: cod fish cakes, chips and mushy peas

Wednesday: aubergine, and mascarpone pasta

Thursday: jacket potatoes, cheese, coleslaw and salad

Friday: chicken fajitas

Saturday: mushroom stroganoff with wild rice and tender stem broccoli

Sunday: spicy chicken thighs, corn on the cob, roasted Mediterranean veg and green salad.

We’re not vegetarians but tend to eat a lot of meat so we’re trying to have meat free days. I also don’t want to spend hours cooking this week so I’ve tried to pick fairly quick and easy meals.

This is such a nice Idea OP, I am loving everyone’s menus

We just started meal planning in June as DH has been dieting so needs to know what dinner is so he can plan his lunches (he is doing fixate from beachbody) where he is allotted so many protein/fruits/veg/carbs/fats/seeds and dressings a day. He has lost 18kg so far another 8-12 to go!

Next week we are having:

Th. spaghetti carbonara for grown ups, supermarket pizza for DC

There are few threads I love more than a menu thread. I love adding new dishes to my list after seeing other people's, I get so bored with my own cooking sometimes.

melonhead · 08/08/2021 16:42

Caprese
Chicken noodle soup
Gnocchi with tomato veg sauce
Fish & chips
Niçoise salad
Peach, mozzarella and Serrano ham salad

Tonight we’re having tandoori chicken skewers, with some kind of curried veg from the freezer (can’t remember exactly what it is because I always think ‘oh it’s fine, I’ll remember, no need to label it’ 🙄🙄), a raita, and rice for DH. We were supposed to have the chicken in a biryani yesterday but we had a row, I threw a strop like a toddler 😒😒and then I didn’t feel like cooking/eating so I just did dal and naan for DH.

Tomorrow we’re hopefully having Chinese dumplings (bumped from today) filled with Chinese beef cheek with a stir fry plus noodles for DH. But it’s the 3rd or 4th day I’m supposed to be doing that so who knows what will actually happen.

Tuesday I’m going to make a chorizo, bean, and spinach stew. DH will have some crusty bread with it.

Haven’t planned further than that.

Topia · 08/08/2021 17:10

Special fried rice tomorrow with peas, egg, plenty of flavoursome spices & spring onions. To go with butter chicken for DH & kids, & tandoori paneer for me (I’m the only vege in the family!) poppodoms on the side & some lovely vegetable samosas.

Tonight it’s mushroom & courgette pasta in a roasted garlic/tomato/basil sauce with lashings of melted cheese & garlic bread.

Then we’ll probably do some nice fluffy cheese omelettes in the week with side of sweet potato fries, & a feta/sweet corn salad. Lots of mayonnaise too.

Vegetarian meatballs & pasta (again with lots of cheese) & bolognese sauce with added garlic.

Possibly pizza, with a nice side of mozzarella/basil/tomato side & garlic bread

MissyB1 · 08/08/2021 19:33

The chicken thighs in Nando’s marinade that we just had. Bloody lovely!
