Please tell me about Costco large cakes

Hi,
I'm hoping someone may have had the large Costco cakes that can be personalised and can let me know how they are taste wise.

I haven't ever actually had any of these cakes but the pastries, sandwich platters, lemon cake and cookies have always gone down well that I have bought before.

I need to buy three large ones for a work colleagues retirement. As I need to feed approx 130 people.
The website says feeds 48 but I think these things can sometimes be conservative so I thought 3 cakes would work.

Any advice appreciated!

The carrot cake is yummy. I'm a big cake fan but will avoid the oblong abomination at any buffet.

@RunAwayNow

They are LOADED with sugar. My dd had one for her first birthday and I sent some of it in to nursery. None of the babies would nap after they'd had it for lunch Grin. Apparently it was quite the afternoon.

I love them though. They're a bit synthetic but really tasty.

Oh I bet you was super popular that day with the staff 😂

@ScottyandWestie

Thank you *@Miraloma* I think I will get a jam and vanilla and a chocolate one, I need three so might do a plain vanilla as the third.
For the 3rd cake I would get one of the other catering sized cakes they do like the carrot cake.

I actually love Costco stuff but these cakes are disgusting. I have got them for the DC birthdays a couple of times on DH’s insistence as he doesn’t agree with spending a lot on cakes. Always regretted it, I never turn cake down and I just can’t eat this. It’s vile.

I tried a couple in my time and thought they just tasted of pure sugar. I could not taste the flavour they were meant to be.

The rectangular cake is revolting, and the list of ingredients is Shock.

Round chocolate and carrot cakes are also quite bad, really artificial tasting. There's a white one with strawberries on which isn't too bad, but otherwise, just no, and I love cake.

They serve their purpose when you want a lot of cake without spending too much money but no-one really cares what it tastes like, that's all.

We’ve had them in the past. We’d request the cake with just jam as the buttercream is so sickly sweet with that icing.

It sounds like Costco cakes are a bit Marmite.

I'm with the they taste sickly sweet and synthetic side. As someone who bakes I would just make some traybakes rather than buy cakes from Costco, but I realise that making enough for 130 people would be very time consuming.
