I saw that, I remember H&A's Shane and Angel were iconic, so much so that they were probably one of that generation's defining cultural icons.

He was so young, it's so terribly sad.

So sad. I remember my friend and me being obsessed with the Shane and Angel storyline one summer, we were probably about 15 at the time. I loved Shane.

Couldn't believe it when I seen it on the news, so loved him when I was a teen. It's just so sad that he didn't reach out and get some help.

45 is no age at all. I also remember him from the Shane and Angel era.

I'm sure I read somewhere pretty recently he was a windowcleaner now.

I literally hadn't thought about him since 1996 but knew which character in Home and Away he was when his name came up. Very sad. I remember being very shocked by his on screen "death" in Home and Away.

Never heard of him and not watched Home and Away. Thoughts for his family and all who knew him, as 45 is very young to die.

I used to read my daughter's Smash Hits and in an interview with him he said that fans would shout his name but pronounced it Diet - er. as they had not heard it said. She is the same age as him. Sad RIP.

Just seen this myself, so sad Sad
Not heard his name for years but recognised immediately on seeing article.
Used to love him as Shane in Home and Away, even had some posters on my wall, probably from TV Hits magazine or somewhere

He was found in his home after a neighbour asked police for a welfare check. Police said there are no suspicious circumstances. Very sad.
