I've just been rescued

By DH from my new sports bra Blush
I've joined a gym and bought a, what I thought was my size, bra from Matalan earlier.
It's a racer back and I couldn't get out of it. I nearly throttled myself.
I may as well just put it on and off to burn calories and cancel the gym Hmm

It is definitely a thing. I tore a ligament in my wrist trying to get mine off once. DH had to help me get undressed for a week until it healed

WasThisSexist · 25/07/2021 19:22

Definitely a thing. One night I was shattered and had so much trouble getting it off that I just gave up and slept in it, restarted the task in the morning.

Gerwurtztraminer · 25/07/2021 19:46

@Cocolapew

I might just wear my every day bra. Its a minimiser and keeps everything nice and firm (.)(.) Sports bras are too dangerous 😯
mmmmm , I'd say only if you are not a very big cup size and not doing anything too bouncy. Or at least double bag with 2 bras.

Ordinary bras even minimisers are not designed to stop the movement of breasts when undergoing up down side to side 'windmilling' effect of exercise. You can definitely find a proper sports bra that won't throttle you to death!

Tbf I'm not planning on doing anything too strenuous Grin

Try Panache Sports bras, they come in both wired and non-wired. Great for running, jumping, HIIT etc but have normal hook and eye fastening. Then you can either make them racer back or normal with 2nd clip on straps.

No wrestling required Grin

I’m currently breastfeeding but I’ll be stopping when I go back to work in two months so no way am I forking out £40+ for a new one when they’ll shrink back to normal size soon anyway so I’ve been squeezing my 34J’s into a 34G sports bra, the band literally doesn’t touch my body and there’s a little bit of under boob but as long as I don’t do any running or jumping I’m fine 😂 I just stick to the cross trainer and weights.

CMOTDibbler · 25/07/2021 20:33

I'm a 32f and wear the Runderwear Easy On bra and it is fantastic - really is easy to do up (and I have a hand/arm disability) and holds everything firmly in place, plus doesn't cause monoboob/ things squashed under your armpit

Iwantcollarbones · 25/07/2021 20:39

I have had this. I thought it would be nice to go for a swim before a yoga class one day. Stupid mistake.

That fucking thing managed to twist and roll itself into a position where I just couldn’t reach it. I ended up having to go to reception of the sports centre I was in and ask for help Blush

I bet they’re still laughing about it years later

Cocolapew · 25/07/2021 21:54

None of these stories are instilling confidence in my future gym shenigans.

I can't get in or out of any sports bra that doesn't open fully at the back, which is the vast majority of those on sale. I don't understand who is wearing them because I am definitely not large busted.

Alternista · 25/07/2021 22:07

Having lost weight, my sports bras are all too big and I STILL can barely get them on and off. Its like one of the great mysteries of the world Confused

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/07/2021 14:52

I have the answer! @Cocolapew

Step into it and pull up to get on and pull down and step out to get off.

You're very welcome Grin

purplesequins · 26/07/2021 14:55

there is NO! WAY! I can pull a sports bra over my hips.

Gliblet · 26/07/2021 14:58

@NoWordForFluffy

I now have one which zips up the front, so no more wrestling with my clothing!
Feh. I got fed up with my one piece pull-on-and-get-stuck-in one so I bought one that zips up the front. Putting it on is like trying to stuff two sacks of jelly into a clamp controlled by an angry octopus. If I can get the zip 'seated' I have to let go of it to pull the front straight enough to do the zip up, at which point everything explodes out of it and I get thwacked in the chin by the zip.
torquewench · 26/07/2021 15:02

Ha! Ive just bought a Shockabsorber with a racer back. I find the easiest way in or out is to fasten it and then step into it and pull it on. The size of the bloody thing though, its enormous (38hh)

TheMoth · 26/07/2021 15:27

The trouble is, they need to be tight so that they work.
I do shock absorber and mine has a bra fasten and a top racer back fasten. I put it on like a normal bra (front, bend, scoop, swivel) then have to contort to do the the top hook. I have to take a deep breath and just feel for it. Mirrors don't help.

To take off, I undo bra bit, then take over my head.

4PawsGood · 26/07/2021 15:30

I do mine up around my waist and then swivel it round. Only works if there is some fastening though.

Yeah, i tried that but could never fasten the top hooks, my arms dont seem long or flexible enough :( . So i fasten, step, pull, scoop, bounce test.

I have no trouble getting in and out of these bras from M&S and they are very good -https://www.marksandspencer.com/serious-sports-extra-high-impact-sports-bra-b-g/p/clp60376878?intid=mobileappppdpshare

MirandaWest · 26/07/2021 17:27

I have sports bras that fasten at the back. Can’t cope with any other sort.

I did the same thing with a sports bra and was totally stuck. Didn't dare do what you did though as with my luck I'd meet a guy on my way to reception. Did you cover yourself?
user1471538283 · 30/07/2021 18:02

I always thought I would be stuck in mine and I've now gone up a cup so that didnt go well. I've bought one with a zip front and it is marvellous!
