I've just been rescued

By DH from my new sports bra Blush
I've joined a gym and bought a, what I thought was my size, bra from Matalan earlier.
It's a racer back and I couldn't get out of it. I nearly throttled myself.
I may as well just put it on and off to burn calories and cancel the gym Hmm

@girlonamission mine unzipped itself in the middle of a run, just in front of the SS Great Britain. That was a treat for the passers by.

KateTheEighth · 25/07/2021 17:38

I had a shower and went to work still in my sports bra on Wednesday after a hot run. It's a cross back and and I just couldn't get it off I was so hot and sweaty. I was also running late which didn't help.

I couldn't go to work sweaty so decided the logical thing to do was shower in it and throw my coolest/loosest dress on (after trying to dry it with a hair dryer 🙄)

Northernsoullover · 25/07/2021 17:39

When the gyms reopened I excitedly booked into my body pump class and excitedly got dressed into my gym leggings. I tried to get my sports bra on but there was no excitement for this part as I'd put on so much lockdown lard that while wrestling to put it on a pulled a muscle between my shoulder blades and couldn't get the damn thing further on nor off. I actually had to cut it. I was also in too much pain to do my bloody class.

I'm large-norked and overweight with dodgy shoulders that have limited mobility. I use one of these. It fastens up the front with hook and eye and the shoulder straps are adjustable with velcro. If necessary you can completely undo the shoulder straps.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/07/2021 17:40

I've never had a problem with the zip up one at all. It holds everything in place very securely!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/07/2021 17:41

I can get out of mine by wriggling and jiggling, but DH has to be there to get it on me in the first place.

They need to come with a health warning.
Do I need to splash on on a more expensive one ?

OP posts:
purplesequins · 25/07/2021 17:49

mine sort of rolls if I try to get it off too quickly.
and then is too inflexible to stretch over my shoulders.
I have to peel it off carefully.

on the plus side nothing bounces when running.

Soubriquet · 25/07/2021 17:50

I know! She’s hilarious and very realistic. She has many videos but this is one of the best

Sparklfairy · 25/07/2021 17:50

@iklboo

Don't, whatever you do, tumble dry it by mistake. It will come out small enough to fit Barbie.

I tumble dried my new sports bra
And now it stretches not as far
It no longer holds my lady jelly
Which sit forlornly on my belly.

Reminds me of the rhymes on jumanji right before shit goes down...
SunSeaSurfGin · 25/07/2021 17:51

Yep it's more of a workout to get out of the sports bra than the actual exercise I partake in.

I know have a Nike bra which has a zip front and it's a game changer

ShirleyDab · 25/07/2021 17:51

This is another reason I don't do running. Ever.

@NoWordForFluffy

I now have one which zips up the front, so no more wrestling with my clothing!
I had a pull on one and nearly dislocated my shoulders every time I put it on or off. Got one that zips up the front and have just as much trouble with that one. Trying to fit the zip in at the bottom, hold the top so the fabric is not too far apart and try and pull the zip up - I need three hands. Last week when it was so hot, by the time I had got it done up I had sweated so much I didn't need to go to the gym!
Timeandtune · 25/07/2021 17:58

Never mind getting them off/ I can’t get mine on. Have to fasten at the front then painstakingly shuffle the bra round the right way, manhandle my boobs into the cups and then pull the shoulder straps up. Bloomin’ exhausting.

Moonsick · 25/07/2021 17:58

I've got a brilliant one that Velcros on the back and the straps are adjustable with strong Velcro too. Pictures attached.

I have had to be cut out of four sports bras but this one you just yank the Velcro and it comes off, but it stays in place whilst doing exercise. I had FF cups and it stopped me getting multiple black eyes.

I've now lost enough weight that it is useless but I hate exercising so prevaricating on buying a new one 🤣.

@Seafog

I feel your pain! The almost same happened to me, but it was in a change room at a thrift store.

I tried to take off a dress, got it three quarters of the way off, and got stuck with my elbows pined to the sides of my face, fabric twisted and fighting around my throat!
I called out for dh, thank God the door was not sturdy, and he untrussed me. The whole time muttering, "How do you do these things to yourself, all the time? Can't take you anywhere!"
GrinBlush

Similar happened to me in a John Lewis. I tried a top on but got stuck getting it off. I had to come out of the cubicle with my arms over my head and call for an assistant. I couldn't see anything and unfortunately there was no one there to help me. There I was calling out "hello, is anyone there"? Someone eventually came and between the two of us we got it off. Both of us were laughing hysterically by the end. Luckily it didn;t rip. It was a lovely top but unfortuntely they didn't have it in th next size up. Gutted.
Cocolapew · 25/07/2021 18:24

My friend in work wore her DDs Superdry coat one day, it was a bit snug. The zip got stuck and we tried to pull it off over her head. She was firmly stuck and I had to cut her out of it. I also cut a lump of her hair off Shock

@Cocolapew
Yes I was still bouncing a lot bit
Yep, bouncy activity requires structural engineering not a bit of stretchy cotton lycra
I know this because I was jumping around nearly having a tantrum while DH pissed himself laughing at my plight
Grin at the tantrum - and tbf it would be very funny to an observer so forgive DH.......

On other options - I tried an expensive Zip Up front one - there was more boobage escaping out under the armpit than in the bra, it felt like a straighjacket and it was hard to breathe. And the zip scratched at the top.

I like the Runderwear Easy On for running. It still needs a bit of wriggling to do up the middle catch and is not cheap, but comfortable once on and easy to get off. At the mid price point some (but not all) M&S ones are OK as are Debenhams Gorgeous for bigger sizes (can still buy on line).

Honestly I have tried so many over the blasted years and spent a fortune.

millenialblush · 25/07/2021 18:44

I once tore (!!) a muscle in my neck putting a sports bra on. I hadn't even made it to the gym before hurting my muscles. I still have scar tissue now, 10 years later

Cocolapew · 25/07/2021 18:47

I might just wear my every day bra. Its a minimiser and keeps everything nice and firm (.)(.)
Sports bras are too dangerous 😯

Have a look at the Brooks range, some of theirs have Velcro fastening / adjustment on the front of the straps. I think the “Fiona” bra used to be one of them. I tried them on but the sizing wasn’t right for my fried eggs.
