How many Pyrex basins do you own?

I have eight (all different sizes and shapes). My friend has one. She thinks I have an excessive amount. I think she must have to constantly wash her one bowl up (and it must get lonely in the cupboard).

I use mine loads! I currently have one small and one medium one in the fridge (holding tinned pineapple rings and mashed potato), one big one with a flatter bottom on the side acting as an impromptu cold-water steriliser with water bottle tops in, two medium ones have been washed up from dinner (making gravy and custard respectively), and I've just weighed out flour into my biggest one ready to make scones tomorrow.

This is obviously light-hearted, but if you lot all have multiple bowls I think I know what I'm getting her for her next birthday. Grin And if you only have one and really and truly are happy with it and never feel the desire for another one, what do you use instead?

1 large rectangle with lid
1 medium square
1 shallow round (good for pies and stuffing)
1 small and deep rectangle
4 small and shallow rectangles with lids (rarely used now got them for freezer leftovers in kid size portions)
1 teeny weeny with lid
1 large measuring jug
1 small.measuring jug

Total 11
Not including my non-pyrex oven dishes Blush

WaltzingToWalsingham · 12/07/2021 23:35

@Buttybach Your vintage Pyrex is giving me bakingware envy. It's beautiful!

tinkerbellvspredator · 12/07/2021 23:36

I forgot the medium and small pyrex mixing bowls! I'm up to 13...

Sgtmajormummy · 12/07/2021 23:49

Over three kitchens I have, authentic Pyrex:
5 jugs
8 (?) rectangular dishes, some with plastic lids.
One huge casserole with lid.
The set posted by the OP, two of the large size.
A square and a tall round one with red lids that I got from supermarket points.
And a tiny half pint bowl that I bought second hand last Friday.

“Pretend” Pyrex I have:
Nutella glasses with plastic lids.
A low round dish for clafoutis or microwaving baked potatoes.
Several Frigoverre containers with blue lids that DMIL used to send us home with after Sunday lunch when we were as poor as church mice.

Two small, two medium, one set of s-m-l and one extra large! So eight as well Shock And an oven dish tear I occasionally use for roast potatoes but would be great for lasagne if I could every be bothered!

noblegreenk · 13/07/2021 00:03

One large rectangular oven dish

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 13/07/2021 00:06

@Buttybach my dm has some of the Pyrex plates and they are my childhood, diolch yn fawr :)

Clear Pyrex, I have 4 bowls (DH and I had 2 each in different sizes when we met), 2 jugs (1 each) and 3 casserole dishes (DB won them in a meat raffle and gave them to me when he was 19).
So 9 items.

MauveMavis · 13/07/2021 00:06

No bowls. I have three bowls for my kenwood chef that I use instead (small flat).

Do have three pyrex measuring jugs though - 2 of the medium sized ones (? 1 litre) and one big one (2l? ) that I use a lot.

My sourdough starter was living in one of the jugs and I was really missing it but it went mouldy this week so has gone in the bin and I have my jug back ( having been through the hot wash on the dishwasher).

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 13/07/2021 00:14

One large basin.

One large jug.

We do have three lovely ceramic Mason Cash bowls in varied sizes but because of awkward storage in our kitchen I almost never use them; it’s just the big Pyrex for everything. And more often than not I just pull out a cereal bowl to use for side jobs like cracking the eggs or whatever.

Sgtmajormummy · 13/07/2021 07:02

OP, you could also give her some stretchy silicone lids to go with her bowls. Cling film is now a rare event.

I have five medium ones and one large mixing basin.

I have five because two were my Dads.

kowari · 13/07/2021 07:10

I have zero. I use the bowl from my salad spinner for mixing.

AuntieMarys · 13/07/2021 07:11

I have a jug but no bowls

Standrewsschool · 13/07/2021 07:18

Used to have three if the glass ones with lids. Then accidentally knocked them and now down to one. Desperately need to replace them. Still have the lids though. Also have a couple of rectangle roasting ones, which are great for toad-in-the-hole.

Also have a glass mixing bowl and Pyrex jug.

Standrewsschool · 13/07/2021 07:19

I forgot the Tesco offer -two more small square ones with red lids.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 13/07/2021 07:37

oh i have two more , that are decorated, i hadnt realised they were pyrex

AbsolutelyPatsy · 13/07/2021 07:39

i have two that @Buttybach has on display Shock

TroysMammy · 13/07/2021 07:45

I have 2 bowls, small and large but I use plastic shop bought trifle bowls for measuring flour if the recipe needs baking powder, spice or salt so I can sieve into the big bowl. I have 3 Pyrex jugs of different sizes, 5 casserole dishes with lids and 3 roasting dishes. Apart from the jugs the others are Wilko.

RedRiverShore · 13/07/2021 07:48

One jug, one bowl, one of the Tesco red lid ones, I used to have many more but didn't use them so gave to charity shop when I had a big clear out

GlumyGloomer · 13/07/2021 07:50

Two bowls, a tiny one and a giant one. I used to have a medium one but Dh broke it. I got a set of 3 stainless steel mixing bowls instead and I love them, haven't used the big pyrex since, although the tiny one is still used lots.

Lucia574 · 13/07/2021 07:55

Three Pyrex and one of those big ceramic ones with a brown outside and cream inside.

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 13/07/2021 10:31

I have 2 jugs but no bowls. I need some in my life I think

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 13/07/2021 11:13

@Lucia574

Mason Cash.

Homepride are doing a collaboration with them at the moment, and I'm quite tempted. I really don't need another mixing bowl though, I just think they look pretty!

12 bowls, 3 casserole dishes (different sizes) 3 jugs, 2 oven dishes.

That's just pyrex, it doesn't include ceramic dishes or baking tins.

To be fair, we did a lot of baking, often with groups pre-covid - all of those see regular use, though I tend to use plastic boxes in the fridge. Let's not ask how many of those we have....
