How many Pyrex basins do you own?

I have eight (all different sizes and shapes). My friend has one. She thinks I have an excessive amount. I think she must have to constantly wash her one bowl up (and it must get lonely in the cupboard).

I use mine loads! I currently have one small and one medium one in the fridge (holding tinned pineapple rings and mashed potato), one big one with a flatter bottom on the side acting as an impromptu cold-water steriliser with water bottle tops in, two medium ones have been washed up from dinner (making gravy and custard respectively), and I've just weighed out flour into my biggest one ready to make scones tomorrow.

This is obviously light-hearted, but if you lot all have multiple bowls I think I know what I'm getting her for her next birthday. Grin And if you only have one and really and truly are happy with it and never feel the desire for another one, what do you use instead?

Quite a few, maybe 8 or 9 in different sizes. But only a few of them still have their lids, which is annoying.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 12/07/2021 22:43

Loads.
5 different size mixing bowls
3 shallow baking dishes,
1 casserole with a lid
2 different size measuring jugs.
Thats all I can remember.

elQuintoConyo · 12/07/2021 22:44

None. Have I failed?

SunSeaSurfGin · 12/07/2021 22:46

2 jugs
2x small medium and large casserole dishes

Op how does your friend make oven batch cooked food??

Caramellatteplease · 12/07/2021 22:48

None. Have I failed?

No... but how?

WeAreTheHeroes · 12/07/2021 22:52

5 bowls, two different sized round casseroles with lids, one oval one with lid and a rectangular lasagne dish. Oh and a measuring jug.

Nannyamc · 12/07/2021 22:54

I have 8 different sizes
2 jugs different sizes
2 casserole dishes with lids
Got them as an engagement present 44 yrs ago
Still going strong in their own special press

Bloodybridget · 12/07/2021 22:54

No bowls (have several stacking plastic bowls for baking etc) but we have got a large Pyrex baking dish, a very small one, and a measuring jug.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/07/2021 22:58

In fairness, I didn't ask her if she had casserole dishes — we were only talking about this type (see picture).

But for example, the scones I'm going to make tomorrow, I'll rub in the fat and flour in my big bowl, then I'll whisk my milk and egg together in a small one before adding it. If I'm making a cake, I won't need as large a bowl for making icing as I would for making the sponge etc.

If I'm doing a roast dinner with a steamed sponge pudding, I'll have one in the steamer with the pudding in it, and I'll use two others for the gravy and custard.

Perhaps if I only had a few I'd use them less (or do more washing up!).

Pyrex bowls i have 4: 1 large, 2 medium & 1 small.
Jugs i have 3: small, medium, large

Other Pyrex dishes I’ve lost count tbh. The majority are big enough for one portion so ideal if batch cooking.

ZenNudist · 12/07/2021 23:00

2 small bowls
1 medium mixing bowl
3 oven casserole dishes in small medium and large

So 6... but 3 or casserole dishes not bowls.

ZenNudist · 12/07/2021 23:00

Jugs I have small and large

ZenNudist · 12/07/2021 23:02

I also have Joseph Joseph stackable bowls that gives me large and small bowls for baking. Plus a big metal mixing bowl which I usually knead dough in or whisk egg whites.

KingdomScrolls · 12/07/2021 23:03

One large bowl, a smaller plastic one for when I'm baking with ds, things go in the fridge in Tupperware not pyrex here

WhiskeyNeverStartsToTasteNice · 12/07/2021 23:06

None

Seesawmummadaw · 12/07/2021 23:08

One medium size but also two large ceramic mixing bowels and a selection of le creuset dishes in various sizes.

Buttybach · 12/07/2021 23:13

I collect british Pyrex. I started 2 years ago and now it's turned into a bit of an obsession!

Buttybach · 12/07/2021 23:16

Um, about 30 I think. A mix of colourful patterned vintage ones and clear workhorse types in a variety of sizes. That's just the bowls.

I also have a variety of pie dishes, souffle dishes, casseroles, loaf pans and refrigerator dishes and I use them all.

Buttybach · 12/07/2021 23:21

And more!

Buttybach · 12/07/2021 23:23

Apologies for the odd posts they were meant to have images and my phone crashed,

beautifullymad · 12/07/2021 23:27

Five bowls, various sizes, three jugs and three vintage Pyrex casserole dishes with glass lids. I have some more modern Pyrex cook and freeze dishes with plastic food saver lids. These are the ones I use the most as I can get a 10 layer lasagne in the deepest one.

WaltzingToWalsingham · 12/07/2021 23:31

Ooh, I love Pyrex. I have:
2 jugs
2 large mixing bowls (one with plastic lid)
3 basins of various sizes
1 casserole dish with glass lid
5 lidded baking dishes of various sizes for freezing lasagne etc
1 cake tin
I also have one of those smoked glass Arcoroc mugs - does that count?

TBF it's not all proper Pyrex...some is the Lidl version. I use it all regularly.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/07/2021 23:32

I have some of those beautifullymad — when Tesco did the offer where you collected vouchers/stickers. I wasn't actually counting those though. Blush

Buttybach I think my grandma has some of those, still in use. Grin
