@squishymamma, ah ok sure the times your DH is out that your DS will settle for you. They change over time how they like to be settled too as they get a bit older I think.

Ah, it was just a really sweet church fayre. Cake stall, chocolate tombola stall, knitted crafts etc and a little room which had lots of great quality toys and biscuit decorating, make a snowman out of pom poms etc.

PinkDaydreams · 20/11/2021 18:43

@squishymamma I love Lego masters!! I'm really hoping DS gets into Lego, I've a massive box ready that I bought for a bargain price.

I have a lavazza Mio (I think?) milk frotheri picked up last year from John Lewis for £20 in the sale, it's great! Keep an eye out as I'm sure I got it near black friday.

When you get something to do with a vision as to how it will turn out but it turns out like this: Grin.

DS1 has his first preschool birthday party to attend today at a soft play centre.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I think it should be pride of place on your fireplace @Chocolatetrifle Grin

We've had a lovely day and DS was in high spirits the whole time, with lots of fun play - really nice end to the weekend. He also went down fairly easily when we put him to bed and wasn't too upset about it, so that was good.

2 days of work to go!! I can't wait, I'm sleeping really badly now. Hoping the little one makes an appearance sooner rather than later...

Hope everyone had a good day!

Chocolatetrifle · 22/11/2021 16:51

@squishymamma, not long to go now, we will be with you along the way! I bet you can't wait to finish work tomorrow. You need to get your feet up a bit while DS is at nursery and take it easy a bit now.

No news from here. My soon to be 2 year old is keeping me up at night last night it was about 5 times. DS1 has a chesty cough. Just when I thought we had turned a corner. Looking forward to bedtime very much. Am trying not to be narky mum today but am tired!

Hope everyone is doing ok?

PinkDaydreams · 22/11/2021 18:40

@Chocolatetrifle my DS has a cough now too, seems to be cold after cold after cold at the min.

Chocolatetrifle · 22/11/2021 18:44

@PinkDaydreams, oh no hope your DS feels better soon. I was wondering if my DS1 had got it from the flu spray which he had last week. How are you after the covid booster? I have mine on Friday.

squishymamma · 22/11/2021 19:05

Evening!

Thanks @Chocolatetrifle, appreciate it Smile hope your DC sleep better tonight and the cough disappears. We all still have coughs even though DS and DH were ill like a month ago, they seem to be taking forever to vanish.

I had a pretty good day, sorted out some work stuff and DS has been in good spirits. He was obviously exhausted after nursery though, we had tea at 5pm and then he went off and laid on the floor Grin so now he's in bed and I've done half the ironing before DH took over and am now sat with my legs up as they're aching Grin

My MIL has done her back in which is less than ideal since she's supposed to be taking DS when I go into labour, plus I really want to help her out but I'm struggling enough with running our house. Hoping she makes a miraculous recovery soon...

Chocolatetrifle · 22/11/2021 22:04

DS1 can't stop coughing, he went asleep and it woke him up and having big coughing fits...DH has had to go out for honey and lemon. I think it's a cold settled on his chest, it's not too bad when up , just lying down. No fever or anything else and it doesn't sound like croup. Makes me anxious.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 23/11/2021 06:40

Oh no - how was the night for your poor DS @Chocolatetrifle? I am glad he doesn’t have a temperature. It is very hard when you are worried about them isn't it. Hope he starts feeling better today.
I was fine after my covid booster (despite being unwell after the initial jab) so hopefully you won’t have any effects from that.
I have a school tour this morning and then this afternoon I have my work’s annual conference to attend by zoom, my mum is babysitting. Going to make the most of the sit down with a cup of tea!

squishymamma · 23/11/2021 06:56

Oh sorry to hear you had a hard night @Chocolatetrifle. Did you manage to settle him in the end? If its mainly when lying down I'd be thinking it may be snot/saliva related? Hope you figure it out and he gets better soon.

Sounds lovely @Lostthetastefordahlias - funny how something that might have seemed a bit of a chore before children is suddenly a golden opportunity for some peace and quiet!

I'm at work now, last day woohoo! Have a to do list the length of my arm though. And another one for all the things to do before baby comes. I've essentially finished Christmas already, all presents bought and wrapped...just have to put up decorations now but it hurts to do so in November! Have you started putting yours up yet?

Chocolatetrifle · 23/11/2021 11:45

DS kept coughing all night really and was so chesty so I kept him off preschool today. Managed to get him a gp apt and there is no chest infection, it's viral. It's always worse at night time isn't it? They always say the chest is clear don't they when it sounds anything but clear!

We've not got our decorations up as yet but I was like you @squishymamma and had a December birth, the difference for me was that I knew I was booked for a C-section on the 9th December so we just put ours up on the 1st. There are some decorations going up slowly here. We'll put ours up after DS2's birthday.

How do you feel at finishing work today? Hope you get everything sorted fir the handover.

@Lostthetastefordahlias, hope you enjoy the school tour and the zoom peace too. It's a big step applying for reception class. I'm hoping DS1 will go to my old school.

Chocolatetrifle · 23/11/2021 11:47

I've got some of these blank decorations from Hobbycraft so we might paint some and stick glitter on later.

After the first two covid jabs I was terrible, really ill and had migraines for a week afterwards. I was very surprised that the only side effect I've had from the booster was an aching arm. Good luck for Friday!

@Lostthetastefordahlias how did the school tour go? I had one yesterday, it's been the third primary school I've visited and probably the best feeling one so far.

@squishymamma have an amazing last day!!!

Christmas decorations don't go up until mid December after DH birthday. I actually walked past a house a few weeks ago with the tree in the window all lit up. To me it felt a bit early but I've heard a few mums at the nusery saying they have the decs up already or are planning to put them up earlier this year.

Camomila · 23/11/2021 20:04

Sorry to hear DS1 is feeling rubbish @Chocolatetrifle I think everyone's immune system is a bit rusty this year after not mixing for most of last year.

@squishymamma how exciting! Hope the handover went smoothly and you have a lovely empty/perfectly organised inbox.

I haven't got mine up yet, I'm not sure of how/if I'm going to put the big tree up yet. DS2 (22m) is at prime baby "hulk smash" stage atm Grin Might just put DHs little desk tree up plus some fairy lights and the wooden (non breakable) nativity scene up.

Motherofmonsters · 23/11/2021 22:06

Ahh DDs cough had practically gone and now she's properly coughing again. Surely this can't be classed as a new cough?!

No tree here yet, I think we'll probably do it the second weekend in December. I need to sort the house out before we can decorate it.

Motherofmonsters · 24/11/2021 17:20

Our heating/hot water isn't working! Think I need to reset the boiler in the loft but it doesn't have a ladder as DH needs to replace it... Hoping he's back from work soon with a ladder.

Hope everyone is okay

Chocolatetrifle · 24/11/2021 18:19

@Motherofmonsters, oh no, hope you are ok and you can get the boiler sorted? Any update? How is your DD's cough?

Motherofmonsters · 24/11/2021 18:30

I'm still waiting for DH to get home, hopefully he's not to far away.

She's still coughing, I think it's because her nose is running. She goes nursery gets a runny nose, next day she sneezes lots and then she gets a cough. It's like the third time it's happened. Not sure what to do about nursery on Friday, I can't test her but she was still had a slight cough from the last cycle so I'm loathed to count as a new one

Chocolatetrifle · 24/11/2021 19:52

@Motherofmonsters, hope you get it sorted tonight...

I'd probably count it as a continuation of the other cough, it's an exacerbation of the original one in my eyes. I've given DD1 some Piriton, I was advised once when I'd got him seen about a viral.cough that it can help it when it's caused from the dripping nose at night. Do you have any?. It might help your DD.

Chocolatetrifle · 24/11/2021 19:53

DS1 that should say, I don't have a DD I have magically produced today!

Motherofmonsters · 24/11/2021 19:59

Oo I have some generic hay fever stuff, maybe that might help. She's woke herself up twice already with coughing. That's what I was thinking, it's just as it sounds loads worse than it was but probably got irritated again from the runny nose

squishymamma · 24/11/2021 21:20

Evening all,

How's DS @Chocolatetrifle? Hope he's managing to cough less with the Piriton. Did you manage to paint the decorations?

Is the boiler sorted now @Motherofmonsters? Sorry to hear DD's cough has returned (I'd also be counting it as the same one). We're all still coughing here from our cold last month, and DH seems to have gotten worse the past few days, so there must be something going around that's sticking. Was at a midwife appointment today and even she was coughing!! Grin

@Camomila we are also at the same "Hulk" stage Grin plus we don't really know where a tree would go, so we're just going to put up our usual fake mini tree that goes on top of a shelf. Plus other decorations that are higher than toddler height!

I haven't gotten everything done that I wanted to before finishing so I did a bit of work today...oops! But also had a much slower and more chilled day. Had a kind of "parent teacher chat" with nursery today, they're really happy with DS so that was good to hear. Apparently he loves hanging out with the older kids even when they push him around and treat him like a puppy Grin I expressed my concerns about his speech - he doesn't really say much and only has a few words, though he understands everything - and they said they weren't worried. I guess he's also bilingual which makes it a bit harder for him. It'd be nice for him to tell us what he wants a bit more often though!

Hope everyone manages to get some sleep. We're going to PIL tomorrow, DH will help carry heavy stuff and lay down some flooring in a room they're decorating and I'll keep my MIL company as she sounds miserable with this slipped disc she has.
