@Chocolatetrifle yeah, that’s pretty much what I do. But she keeps peeing on my sofa, which is stressing me out lol. I put her on the potty and she ran straight off to the sofa and peed on it 🙈 I do have mattress protectors on it, but they don’t stay on very well. I will just try keep fixing them on properly!!

Thanks :) I always carry the potty around with me. Although today I didn’t bother sitting her on it, because it was a busy park. Will try better tomorrow

BeHereNowx32 · 13/09/2021 19:05

That sounds bad doesn’t. I maybe need to commit. But I don’t feel that she is fully ready just yet! X

Chocolatetrifle · 13/09/2021 19:58

@BeHereNowx32, sending you a hug, it's stressful potty training and some days it gets very annoying! She's still so young, only 2 and a half. If you feel she's not ready yet why not forget about it for a week or two, give yourself a breather then try again in a few weeks. She will get there I promise.

I'm at the stage that my DS1, 4 next month and trained for yonks, thinks it's hilarious to wee outside in the garden including on the slide and DS2 is trying to copy him pulling down his trousers and nappy pants trying to whip it out too. Honestly I hope none of the neighbours choose that moment to look out of the window.

Give yourself a break and then approach it again perhaps. There's no rush and your DD will soon get the hang of it x

Evening all!

@BeHereNowx32 no advice to come with as we haven't started that chapter yet, but sending support. Interesting that you say she ran from the potty to your new sofa. Can you think of any reason why? Maybe she likes the reaction? (totally using random posts i found on IG there...)

We've had a great day, though DS insisted on getting up at 5am - he's been in good spirits all day and it seems he's gotten over his illness, though still coughing a bit. Haven't done much as he's been at nursery and I've been at work, but it has been lovely to have only a normal number of tantrums and not one long continuous one all day Grin

Hope everyone has a good night!

BeHereNowx32 · 13/09/2021 20:24

@squishymamma she was on her tablet and I think she was rushing to get back to it. And I did tell her off for peeing which I know is the wrong thing to do. Was just feeling tired and frustrated.
Good to hear DS is starting to feel better. The 5am wake ups are so tough. Hopefully early night for you all!

@Chocolatetrifle I know. There’s no rush, I guess. I may just do that. Take a more relaxed approach, until I feel she is ready.
Oh gosh 🙈 at least it’s outside!! Haha

squishymamma · 13/09/2021 20:32

@BeHereNowx32 oh I totally understand that, I go to screeching mother mode in 0.5 seconds if there's any wee or poo involved that is where it shouldn't be...I think it's great that you have had a chilled out afternoon and hopefully you'll get a good sleep too tonight. Smile I'm off to bed right now in preparation for tomorrow's 5am wakeup call Grin

Chocolatetrifle · 14/09/2021 16:34

How is everyone today?

Quiet day here really, DS1 has had preschool so DS2 and I did some food shopping this morning. We've had a bit of a sort out of some toys and puzzles etc that have seen better days. I love a sort out.

This afternoon we had a playground visit and a bit of garden time. Not much to report from here!

BeHereNowx32 · 14/09/2021 17:46

@Chocolatetrifle sounds like a good day. Sorting toys is always a good thing!! I find it hard to know what to get rid of.
We have had a quiet day too. Went for a walk to the post office and played with kinetic sand. DD has had a day in nappies. Most of her pees in the nappy and 3 in the potty

Chocolatetrifle · 14/09/2021 21:00

@BeHereNowx32, glad you've had a good day too. Any wees in the potty is still doing well. You are doing great.
Hope you have a good night. Fingers crossed there are not any 5 am starts. My DS2 still stirs at 5. Previously he would get up at this time when he was a bit younger, the only way I can get another hour and a bit out of him is to give him milk in a bottle! Shock. I need to be brave and ditch his bottle as he's 21 months now. But can't quite face it yet...

Sleep well everyone.

squishymamma · 14/09/2021 21:52

Evening!

Sounds like a good day was had by all. I also love a sort out!

We've had work and nursery, then DH looked after DS and I went to a friend's house for a little dinner party. It was so nice to see good friends again and have a good catch up! Hence why I am up so late. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning...

Hope everyone gets a good sleep. Smile

Chocolatetrifle · 16/09/2021 08:50

Morning all,

A day at home here. DS1 is ill again, had to collect him from preschool yesterday as he started with a fever and a bad throat. Dr says it's not 'quite ' tonsillitis so no antibiotics. So just the usual calpol and ibuprofen. He was sweating so much in the night. I can't believe how much illness we have had since June. I guess to be expected really in one way. We are watching lots of Tele and it's not yet 9!

Anyway, hope everyone is well. Have a good day!

Chocolatetrifle · 16/09/2021 09:08

Ps I keep thinking DS1 is ill again because we went to the birthday party on Saturday, or because we went to the children's farm etc. Will that feeling ever go away?

Camomila · 16/09/2021 09:17

Oh bless him @Chocolatetrifle Sad

DS2 and I went to a mum and baby dance/exercise class yesterday (babies in slings or toddling about). Was so much fun but DS2 (all 10kg of him) stayed on my hip for 90% of the lesson so I'm exhausted. Going to meet DM for a wander round the shops today - probably a good thing so my legs don't seize up.

And yup, he has a runny nose now post socialising! (Though tbf could just as easily be from nursery). I'm hoping the "we socialised - now we are ill" feeling will go away eventually. Maybe next summer? I think (optimistically!) this will be the last winter of pcr tests.

squishymamma · 16/09/2021 09:35

Good morning!

I'm at work today and DS is at nursery. He's started waking up in the middle of the night thinking it's time to get up. Either that or he's hungry, so we've had to give him a few nighttime snacks despite the fact that he goes to bed just an hour after having dinner. Anyone else have this problem? Is it temporary? He's now 18, almost 19 months...

@Chocolatetrifle it's so hard to know where they pick up illnesses from, but I think it's normal to think that it's from activities even before COVID. We're going on a church weekend away this weekend and I'm already worried about DS getting ill because of it Grin I guess that's the price we pay though for them not being exposed to anyone really the past 2 years! Hope he feels better soon.

Chocolatetrifle · 16/09/2021 18:53

Thanks everyone, have been back to the GP today as DS1 still poorly. He definitely now has tonsillitis so they've agreed to give him antibiotics.

@squishymamma, it could be molar teething waking him up or a regression? Hope tonight is better for you. Supper is always a good idea I think. What time does he go to bed?

@Camomila, the mum and toddler dance sounds like fun! Hope your DS2'S sniffles get better soon.

Camomila · 16/09/2021 21:25

He's ok thanks @Chocolatetrifle apart from the runny nose - phew! Sorry to hear DS1 is still poorly but glad to hear he has been given antibiotics.

Good day here, went to story time at the library then had a successful wander round the shops with DM and bought myself some ankle boots for winter and lots of stuff from primark . Then this afternoon DS1 had an impromptu playdate with the little boy across the hall.

@squishymamma I can't remember which DS it was but one of mine went through a phase of being hungry around 4am, having a snack and a play then going back to bed. Lasted about a week I think - I can't remember why though, either growth spurt or learning a new skill.

Camomila · 16/09/2021 21:28

Oh! I've discovered a new successful easy activity for the DC - those magic water colouring pads - picked one up in tiger (mainly as I used to love them as a child) and both boys loved it and spent ages painting with water.

BeHereNowx32 · 17/09/2021 07:09

@squishymamma my DD had an 18 months sleep regression. She used to wake up at 4am for the day. I had to change her naps a bit and it sorted out. Then at 2, she would wake during the night saying she was hungry. Now she gets a bowl of porridge or weetabix before bed. A couple of times I gave her a digestive biscuit in her cot at 3am. Then she kept expecting it.

@Chocolatetrifle hope DS is feeling better soon. That’s such a shame that they can’t just give him medication to help. It’s always tricky with antibiotics. Docs don’t seem to like prescribing it.

@Camomila the class does sound hard! Good on you for doing it. Must keep the kids entertained too! The water mat sounds good. May get one for DD soon. Wish we had a Tiger shop near me. They shut down.

Had a busy morning with DD. We had to stay in, but made Gloop and water play. Then it was lunch time and I was exhausted 😅 I really want to sort her toys, she can go play by herself sometimes. Don’t know where to start. Oh and potty training did not happen yesterday!

Hope everyone is ok today.

Chocolatetrifle · 17/09/2021 12:23

I loved magic painting too @Camomila. I got a couple of books and boys liked them and then I left them in the garden and it poured down so that was them ruined! I will get some more. An Aquadoodle mat is also good.

We've attempted to make some robots out of toilet rolls and tin foil but they all went wrong! DS1 has come out in more face spots/blisters so it appears he has HFM as well as tonsillitisShock.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

BeHereNowx32 · 18/09/2021 07:35

@Chocolatetrifle oh your poor DS. That sounds so uncomfortable 😔 they seem to get everything at once. Hope all ok today.

We have a child free day today! Do we sort the house out... or go for a drink?! 😂

Talking about the water mats, you can buy Chinese writing paper online, and it paints black using water. I keep meaning to try it.
Hope everyone has a nice day

Chocolatetrifle · 18/09/2021 13:56

@BeHereNowx32, oh you should definitely go out for a drink! Leave the house jobs, make the most of it! Hope you have a lovely day.

We are in hand foot and mouth hell. DS1 says his throat is better but still has the blisters on his mouth, ears, arms and bum and DS2 has now got a fever and is not eating , drinking milk luckily but is vomiting. He's only just recovered from last week's tonsillitis, so I am guessing some spots will appear on him over the next day or so.

We are indoors watching tele....and cleaning up sick....

squishymamma · 18/09/2021 16:51

@Chocolatetrifle sorry to hear you're having such a hard time!! Hope it goes over fast and both are back to normal soon. To answer your question, DS goes to bed usually around 6.30pm and we usually eat around 5.30pm. Not sure when to give him a snack...

@BeHereNowx32 hope you ended up out for a drink Grin

We're on a church weekend away and it's lovely but I'm shattered! DS has been loving it, he's done nothing but run around the whole time, but he started getting a bit overstimulated so we're now sat in our room watching TV on the tablet. He's much happier so that's good, and it's not long until dinner which is great as I'm starving!

Hope everyone had a good day Smile

Motherofmonsters · 18/09/2021 19:48

Hi everyone, sorry I've been quiet for a while, DS has started school and it's really thrown me out. He seems to be getting on okay, they've been positive so that's good. We had a session with the private OT today and within 5 mins they said he needed a full assessment. They think he will respond really well to therapy so we're going to give it a try. MIL has kindly offered to pay for it for us which is amazing as it's lots of money.

Sorry your having a rough time @chocolatetrifle your house seems to be getting all of the sickness.

Chocolatetrifle · 19/09/2021 13:11

@Motherofmonsters, I was hoping your DS was settling at school, I've been thinking about you. That's brilliant he is doing really well and I'm glad you have had a chat with the OT. It sounds like you will be able to start the therapy soon so that's great. Hope you are feeling ok about things now?

@squishymamma, hope you enjoyed the church weekend and DS did too. Oh yes, not much time for a snack then. Would he go to bed a bit later then you might be able to give him a little bit of toast or cereal at 7? Guess it depends how often he is waking for long periods in the night.

Well DS2 has tonsillitis again. He only had it the week before last! Both boys are on antibiotics for it now. I live at the walk-in centre at the moment!

Managed to get him seen this morning. I called 111 yesterday afternoon and it took them 17 hours to call me back Angry. Walk in centre had no appointments left yesterday afternoon and I was dithering about going to A & E but we managed to keep his temperature down and he did go asleep eventually so I decided against the A & E visit. Anyway both boys are napping now so thought I'd catch up.

Hope everyone is well.

BeHereNowx32 · 20/09/2021 08:34

@Chocolatetrifle how are your DS? Are they both feeling unwell just now. That’s so hard. Hope today is a better day.

@squishymamma good to hear you got some rest during your busy weekend. Hope you had a nice time.

@Motherofmonsters that’s lovely news that your DS is settling in well and you have therapy sorted. Hopefully a weight lifted.

DH did go out on Saturday. Had a lovely day, and spent too much money doing it 😂 but DD had a sickness bug yesterday. So, spent all day doing washing! She seems ok this morning
