I am so so so late to the party, but my goodness, I am totally hooked!!!
Just wondered if anyone else fancied being watching buddies, I've only just got to season 2!

oh yes! can't wait for the next season. I'm new to books though

PoptartPoptart · 10/07/2021 23:00

Funnily enough, I wasn’t keen on season 2 the first time I watched it (particularly the first half of the season that takes place in France).
However, when we rewatched the whole series for the second time I actually really enjoyed those episodes.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 10/07/2021 23:15

What can I say???

Bloody love it - started with the tv show, then read all of the books, then listened to all of the books on Audible.

I am an Outlander addict.

Waiting patiently for the new book coming out later this year. Don't want to give any spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the books but the last one had me crying like a baby 😭😭😭

grannyjacob · 11/07/2021 00:37

For anyone who has read all the books/watched all the Starz seasons, I would recommend a lot of the Outlander fan fiction to be found in e.g. Archive of Our Own. There’s a wide range of stories, some in canon, some not.

Love the fanfiction. Its all I read now. Some of my favourites are Downhill, Atonement, Journey of a thousand kisses conversations in the dark, Lovers in a dangerous time, an interruption in the first law of thermodynamics etc. There are so many good writers out there, they don't go on and on too much like the Canon books.
PoptartPoptart · 11/07/2021 15:38

Does anyone know how many more books Diana Gabaldon is planning?
I know season 6 is due next year, and Starz have confirmed there will be a season 7.
Wondering if this will be the last season?

Diana Gabaldon is writing one more book. No one knows after season 7. The cast probably want to move on. They have discussed doing spinoffs but no details known publicly.

Oooh I love outlander, glad I've found this thread.

I love Jamie, I've watched the wedding episode countless times 😁

SirenSays · 11/07/2021 16:58

Can you call yourself a true Outlander fan if you don't watch the wedding episode over and over 😍😅

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 11/07/2021 17:17

Very true @SirenSays 😂

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 11/07/2021 19:19

Had to join the Outlander appreciation thread. It's great. The first season is definitely the best but they each have their merits. Also Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser is very handsome indeed. Not so much in real life but as Jamie Fraser.... oh my.

babycorn1 · 12/07/2021 20:25

@JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt totally agree. In real life, he is very good looking but a bit meh... I think it's the red curls, the kilt and the rolling r's that does it as Jamie!

Anyone else going to own up to watching it rather than the footie last night? In my defence I had the game on with the sound low... Grin

Still getting a bit annoyed by the French episodes, but Jack's back!!!! I mean, I knew that was what happened but I still muttered 'that bastard again'.

One more. I wish she'd stuck with her plan to finish with book 9. Its been over 7 years since book 8 was published. I know I've definitely lost interest compared to earlier book releases. It'll probably be about 2030 before the final book appears

AdditionalCharacter · 12/07/2021 20:36

It's known as Fifty Shades of Tartan in this household.

Have watched it a couple of times, for catch up purposes usually before a new season starts and for a naked Jamie

StCharlotte · 12/07/2021 20:39

I watched them all and yes some of the scenes are very uncomfortable to watch. I like the French series best - the costumes are utterly breathtaking.

I have to say I did get a bit weary of the constant underlying sense of danger.

Yellowcrockpot · 12/07/2021 20:45

Omg, there are others like me (thanks op)
I've just got to the first few episodes of series two and must say I'm not enjoying the France thing, Jaime just seems unrealistic now, with all the perfectly spoken French.
However, I'm going to keep going with it, as I did some saddo googling and apparently it gets better again.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 13/07/2021 18:49

There is some lovely Outlander inspired jewellery you can treat yourself to. I fell for a silver ring, inspired by Claire's 2nd wedding ring from Jamie. Just couldn't resist!

NotMeekNotObedient · 13/07/2021 19:18

Love outlander. Love the books, especially the first few. Wasn't disappointed with the series at all. One and 2 are the best. In fact I prefer the most recent series to reading the later books.

Where can I find this? In the future I'd love to get married in Scotland. This theme would be wonderful

....currently have a glass of red and season 2, episode 4 on...

Telling Jaime JR is alive....

babycorn1 · 13/07/2021 21:25

@Yellowcrockpot prepare yourself... just finished ep8 of S2. Only just stopped bawling my eyes out...
Thankfully I think (well I know) they are back off to Scotland so won't have to side eye at the perfect French accents as a pp mentioned!

Another Outlander fan here! I tried watching series 1 episode 1 when it first came out several years ago with DP but he hated it and I wasn't sure about the time travel/fantasy element, so gave up. What was I thinking??? It's bloody brilliant!
I started watching it last year in Lockdown when I had no work and was running on empty and unwell after an incredibly stressful time - totally hooked me, gobbled it all up in a few days (all 5 series!) Love it!! I will always think fondly of it and how it offered me an "escape." It is a hard watch in places, all the rape and the storylines are often bonkers but the production is just brilliant.

I got my adult DD who lives elsewhere to watch it and so of course, I had to rewatch it all so I could chat about it with her, send each other memes and gif's. I really loved the rewatch - noticed so much more about the scenery, music, details in the costumes (I love the costumes, just superb). Like others I have watched The Wedding several times.

SirenSays · 13/07/2021 21:55

I finished Spartacus (totally recommend to anyone who hadn't watched it) and was looking for something similar and Outlander kept being recommended. I tried it and was seriously uninterested. I left it on as background noise and then the tower rescue scene happened in season one and I was hooked. I blame Disney for making me fall for such a fairytale trope 😂 I immediately had to go back and watch it properly from the start and now I'll tell anyone who will listen how amazing the show is ❤️

I love it-such good books and such good telly! BJR is an excellent baddy. Love Fergus and Jenny from the Broch as well.
