Urgh urgh urgh. Found this in the middle of the living room this morning. Obviously exterminators are going to be called as soon as is reasonable. Is it a rat or a mouse? Child’s Farm Detangler shown for size reference.

What is good hygiene ? Taking your fridge and freezers, etc etc. out and washing behind them every month? Every weeK? This hygiene mania is ridiculous.

I saw an experiment on telly with so called 'anti bac' spray on a work surface, then checking the time it took for the bacteria to return..... it took 3 seconds Grin . We wouldn't be around if we died from bad hygiene!!!!!

ppeatfruit · 03/07/2021 14:36

Also some people are actually ill from TOO much hygiene Grin

HeronLanyon · 03/07/2021 14:39

Oh peapeat you’ve reminded me - I have new fridge to get over the next few weeks. That mad dash as one is pulled out to wipe around madly before the new is in. Just how does it get so filthy ?

Dryadia · 03/07/2021 14:53

First thought was a large mouse, we have had fancy rats for years .That doesn't look like a rat, too round in the body and the tail tapers off a lot more in a rat.

ppeatfruit · 03/07/2021 14:55

Grin Heron Because we DON'T clean behind them ever!! Well we don't, only when we move as you say Grin

Zwellers · 03/07/2021 17:42

It's a wood mouse. All these people saying rat have obviously never seen one.

DuesToTheDirt · 03/07/2021 17:49

Umberellatheweatha if I saw that in my cupboard I'd have a heart attack!

We've had pet mice btw, but somehow free-ranging rodents are quite different lol.

ForeverFloating · 03/07/2021 17:55

I think people thought rat as it looks huge in the photo, I think the pic is just close though, if you compare it to the size of the wooden floor board it’s not so big.

We are recently rid of a mouse problem (I hope!) New build property that hadn’t been sealed up properly and the mice were tiny things. We put traps and poison down and had the builders come back and seal things up better, they seem to be gone!

I was hearing it for a few weeks behind my cupboard and wondering wtf was going on. Cane out one morning to find rat shit on my xbox. So I put some traps in the actual cupboards and low and behold...

Think if I ever hear one again though, bugger it, I'm moving lol

Powertothepetal · 03/07/2021 18:24

We’ve got exterminators coming today. I know poison is cruel (I’m vegan and adore animals) but with small crawling kids I need to make sure that the mice are gone
Great vegan you are Hmm

@TheVampiresWife - thank you very much, what a lovely comment!

The rodents were here before we were and will be here long after the neurotic human race has run it's course. They are good at recycling, rats especially. Humans carry more diseases than they do too. .

There has been research into the black death or plague and it was found that it spread much further North than the rats could survive.

Still despise the fuckers and don’t want them in my house 🤷🏻‍♀️
Soontobe60 · 04/07/2021 13:30

I thought mouse when I saw it.

ppeatfruit · 04/07/2021 13:32

It's true I don't welcome them in my house either, I think we may have some type of french ferret dancing in our attic, they're worse! But I spray my herbal spray, it repels them, all rodents hate the smell of perfumed human habitation and they keep away. I wouldn't poison the poor sods.
