Bra Size - Head Blown!

Nohomemadecandles · 16/06/2021 16:45

M&S - 42A
Boob or Bust - 38G

Used both calculators and I'm stumped.

I'm overweight and have never had big boobs and most of what I have now is fat but because I'm fat, they've spread across my body and are escaping under my arms!

I've tried a 38G but it was unbearably tight and flattened me out horribly.

I am slowly losing some timber but am I consigned to rubbish boobs for the foreseeable??

First you have to get a bowl full to the brim. Set it on a tray to catch the drain off. Gently immerse one boob in the water. Pour the drain off water into a bottle. Take it to any bra shop. Open the bottle and chuck the contents in the air and see which bra it lands on. Eureka! You have as much chance of this bra fitting you than any measured one. Grin

Interesting that the Olympic team are all getting bespoke bras. Hopefully the research will lead to better bras for everyone in future, bit I would assume it will take a few years to filter down to the highstreet.

Chailatteplease · 19/06/2021 18:15

Love boob or bust! But I got the same size on both theirs and M&S calculators, 36G. Had been wearing a 38DD previously.

Get a 38ff fantasie fusion and fantasie illusion

PinkPurpleParade · 19/06/2021 22:58

It takes a bit of work but BOB is 10000x better than M&S. Or get fitted in Bravissimo if you're still unsure!

M&S had me in a 36G for years. My boobs would fall out if I bent over, huge cleavage, backache.

BOB I measured as a 32JJ. At first it felt horribly tight but then I realised that's what a bra is meant to feel like! Once I wore them in my boobs have never looked and felt better.

Cherrysoup · 19/06/2021 23:45

If BOB gave 38G then you are buying bras with cups that are far too small in the bigger back sizes. Sister sizes would be 40FF or 42F not 40C or 42A

Not true.I’m a (fat) 42C, a bigger cup size=loads of empty space/gappy cup, despite scoop/swoop. I’ve tried many brands, same thing. Asda comes up trumps, but even their C cups vary and are massive on me sometimes.

You haven't given your measurements so how can you say that my comments are wrong when responding to the OP?

Maybe the back size you are buying is too big and therefore the cup is too big too

SuzanneBC · 20/06/2021 00:12

Just to pick up on this - cup size is not volume - I used to think that too till this was explained to me by a professional fitter after I lost some weight. She explained the cup size is the difference between underbust and bust size, which is not the same as volume. In fact the volume of, say, the cup of a 32D bra is the same as the volume of a 34C or a 36 B. But a different shape.

MrsWhites · 27/06/2021 09:52

After using the BOB method I measured as a 32DD which seemed ridiculous to me as mine really aren’t big but I went with it, went to M&S and got some 32DD t shirt bras. They do fit surprisingly but they really flatten out my breasts so they didn’t look great under clothes, made me look shapeless. Don’t really know what to try size wise now, the 32D was too small, ended up with the dreaded 4 boob scenario. Is it just a case of trying a different brand maybe?

Nohomemadecandles · 27/06/2021 10:11

Sigh. I don't know. I've tried sister sizes & different styles in the same size and not one is right.

15 bras so far.

I've got 2 lots still awaiting refunds from returns. (£78).

I'm wretched from all this bra-ness! I only wanted a bit of cleavage for a night out. HmmConfusedGrin

What sizes are you trying?
Have you worked out the back size you need yet? Try the bra on backwards without using the cups and see how tight/loose it is

I like balconette styles or plunge. If I buy a full cup style I get empty space at the top as my breasts are fuller on the bottom.

Nohomemadecandles · 27/06/2021 10:27

Bob measurement- 38G - band I tried initially was unbearably tight.
I tried 40FF and 40F and different 38g styles. Also tried a 36GG & 36H.

The nearest thing I've got to a decent band test and a decent cup fit was an emergency Asda purchase at 38F out of desperation! But there's no real support as it's Asda!
