Can anyone explain my new Bush cooker to me?

I don't understand it Confused
It's a double oven but I think (?) the grill is in the main oven, but the instructions say to use temperature at max for it but that's a different knob.
Every time I try to cook a pie, ready made, the top burns.
What is going on?

It's not normal, no. The grill is normally in a smaller top oven. I can't see how to control temp either.

I think Im going to have try customer services tomorrow.

Those controls are baffling. It doesn’t look like grill should be on in that setting you have it on.

How burnt is the pie? Well browned or cremated?

Cocolapew · 14/06/2021 17:49

On its way to being cremated. I moved the shelf down and it was ok.
It says here the grill is in the top oven but I can't get it on Hmm
Im going to wait for everything to cool down and try it sgain

I dont understand why the tops of things are burning so quickly the higher up in the oven it is. Surely the heat dhould be all around it.

My gas ovens have always been like this. I put Yorkshire’s and roast potatoes at the top and pies or things that need slow, even cooking down the bottom of the oven.

Cocolapew · 14/06/2021 18:45

Thanks I'll keep everything down a bit. In my old oven everything needed put on the very top.
I've just tried again and the grill is definitely only in the bottom.
I've emailed customer services and if thats no help I'll phone tomorrow.

On the second knob you can select top and bottom elements and then just top and just bottom. Do you think you can select one of them and then use the other knob to do the temperature?

dementedpixie · 14/06/2021 19:44

Can you do a better picture of the page with the different functions e.g. grill, etc

That suggests that you set the mode on number 2 dial and then adjust temperature with the number 1 dial then

Yes. But when I do it the small oven heats up and the grill is in the bottom oven.

dementedpixie · 14/06/2021 21:00

Which is the big oven and which is the small?
Grill is normally in the small one.

Cocolapew · 14/06/2021 21:02

Bottom is the big and thats were the grill is, but with no way of turning it down.
It appears to be a topsy turvy cooker.

OP posts:
Golden2021 · 14/06/2021 21:24

It definitely suggests that you turn grill on and use the other dial to control temperature of the grill.

Cocolapew · 14/06/2021 21:31

I know. But it doesn't work in practice.
I made potato waffles earlier, and tried it again. It just put the top oven on.
If all seems a bit convoluted even if it did work.

OP posts:
CassandraCross · 14/06/2021 21:40

That is seriously confusing, if you select the type of oven you want on the second dial you can't then select the temperature? There is no way the outer ring bit moves or you have to push in/pull out the knob or something is there?

I agree with you it makes no sense, I can't see how it is expected to work!

Cocolapew · 14/06/2021 21:54

You can select the temperature for the oven but not the grill. I presumed there would be maybe 2 settings for a grill, full and half
But these instructions seem to say you select the grill option, and the grill is in the main oven, and then select the temperature using the knob for the top oven.
I also presumed the grill would be in the top oven.
This is what I get for buying online 😒

HI - When you want to grill in the bottom oven turn the dial to grill and set the temperature. - They recommend you use MAX - but you don't have to.

(I can't work out from the instructions if the top oven grill is also a grill or a weird name for the small oven).

As for the food burning on top - you should cook a pie with the top/bottom option selected and the temperature knob as required. If it's burning maybe put it more in the middle of the over and turn the temperature down a bit. I hope that makes sense. (I also have options of top element, bottom element and both elements and only ever use the both option).

Mumdiva99 · 15/06/2021 11:13

ignore....you are missing a selection switch to make what I say possible.....

It must be that the top oven grills with temperature and bottom oven only grills at max.....

But what temperature would the bottom element only be?

Cocolapew · 15/06/2021 11:32

I can't figure out if the top oven has a grill Confused there's no way of putting it on if it has, only the bottom one comes on and it has to stay at the same temp.
I might have to admit defeat and use the bottom.
I kept getting knocked off the live technical chat earlier.
