Does getting tattooed give anyone else the shits?!

I have got several large and small tattoos, and I swear I spend the 48 hours after having one with a runny bum!!

Why?! Does this happen to anyone else? Is it the adrenaline from the pain?

I know anxiety can cause a dodgy tummy but I'm not even particularly anxious about them beforehand.

Tweedy I'm really not surprised, I thought I had quite a high pain tolerance but the calves were something else.

Get your neck tattooed then get back to me on that

I'll pass on that one. I can imagine that smarted a bit.

It's weird isn't it, it's quite a meaty area so I thought calf would be nae bother. But turns out there's loads of nerve endings 😭

I thought once I survived the spine id be fine, but calf is 10x worse than spine.

I'm surprised by all the calf comments, I found my calf the easiest of the three I have! Other two are inner upper arms. I must have been lucky! Maybe won't chance it again with the other leg though Grin

Why don't you use emla cream beforehand so its painfree? then see if you get diarrhoea afterwards or not.

Most tattooists won't work on you if you use lidocaine creams as it makes the skin rubbery and a more difficult surface to tattoo on. It's very frowned upon unfortunately.

@TweedyPuu- I never knew that, but then, I don't have tattoos!

OldTinHat · 13/06/2021 11:27

No but I always feel bloody exhausted after a three hour sitting. Like a PP has said, I think it's the adrenaline.

OldTinHat · 13/06/2021 11:28

Oh and I also get hysterical giggles during an inking. My tattoo chap thinks I'm very strange!

CorrieEl · 29/12/2022 19:23

I definitely get the shits after a tattoo. And nausea.

slimepunx · 14/08/2024 17:41

Experiencing this right now 😂😂😂cCame here to confirm this was a thing

Yes! I do get the shits after a tattoo, for a few days, and usually generally just feel crap. No energy, achy, dizzy, feel sick. The first time it happened was on a 4 hour thigh piece, but only towards the end.

Then again on a very brutal back piece, I started to feel unwell during it.
The artist that did that was very heavy handed, and it HURT. It was about 90 minutes I think, but way worse than the 4 hours on my thigh.

I had a very small tattoo after that, that took maybe 15 minutes and it happened again. So I think my body doesn't have much tolerance for tattoos anymore.
I haven't had one in 10+ years now, partly because I'm worried about feeling so crap again!
