Does getting tattooed give anyone else the shits?!

I have got several large and small tattoos, and I swear I spend the 48 hours after having one with a runny bum!!

Why?! Does this happen to anyone else? Is it the adrenaline from the pain?

I know anxiety can cause a dodgy tummy but I'm not even particularly anxious about them beforehand.

It’s adrenaline causing fight or flight - quite normal but probably not helpful

Oh god, why does it happen to me?!

At least it's not mid-tattoo I guess. Can you imagine.

I had a 4 hour sitting today and I'm now running to the toilet every 10 minutes.

Not unless I've had a stomach bug about 8 times immediately after a tattoo.

I think it's the adrenaline, but seems an extreme reaction to it.

All I can remember is it bloody hurt. And as it was on my bum I couldn’t sit down. I had another one just above my bikini line and that didn’t hurt anywhere near as much. But I can’t recall having the trots !.

Not the shits but i always get tattoo flu! I will feel a bit sick and achey like im coming down with a bad cold the first day or 2 of being tattooed. Has happened all nine times.

Could it be a reaction to the ink? That eventually settles? I don't get this.

Apparently there is a real condition called Tattoo Flu. Maybe its that.

Not the runs but tattoo flu and a 24 hour migraine after mine, particularly the big ones.

Ah, good shout. Tattoo flu it may be. Makes sense if your immune system thinks it needs to jump to action.

Everyone said my sternum would be the most painful one but I actually found my fingers and calf were worse.

I get quite ill after tattoos , usually nausea, dizziness, headache for a few hours, I always thought it was the adrenaline wearing off.

Tweedy horrific sums it up. I've had both calves tattooed and they were definitely the worst. Fingers and back of hands a close second.

Definitely sounds like you've got a touch of tattoo flu though.

This is all reassuring to hear. Having read up a bit more it seems your body goes into slight shock, and your immune system kicks in thinking it needs to fight. That plus the adrenaline causes flu like symptoms, which in my case seems to manifest as the shits Grin

I'm kind of fascinated reading about it, I had no idea.

Omg Kurt I actually cried on one of my calves. You wouldn't think it would be too bad would you? The knee pit bit is the worst pain I've ever felt.
