DH is so easily pleased

Ha! We're sat out in the garden this afternoon, it's about 23 degrees and the first decent weather garden day we've had.

I got the recliner loungers out and brought a tray of olives, beer, tortillas and dip out.

37 year old DH sits in a lounger and sees the beer and snacks, claps his hands like an excited toddler and announces "Yay! Holiday!"

made me smile. 23 degrees, some olives and beer and we're transported to holiday mode.

Why does it have to be tit for tat? Why can't you do something nice for the person you love now and again?

Stayed with friends last night who live in an idyllic spot by a river. We sat on the river bank to watch the sunset and gradually more and more people came out with chairs and drinks and blankets when it got dark and chilly. Just a wonderful simple evening.

Best scene isn't it?!! I offered to go into the house for spatulas for the dance so we could pretend we're stripping wallpaper but DH said no, because the back neighbours scaffolders might see

It reminds me of a Billy Bragg lyric:

Which makes me think of my lovely grandad, who was the king of finding contentment from the small pleasures in life.

Honestly, that would feel like a holiday to me too right now! Except for the olives, you can keep those.

I think those who are easily pleased are a good sort to be with. Appreciative, easy going and find the good in little things, just makes them good company.

This made me smile. I think we have all realised how short life is, since covid. Sometimes the simple things are the most special.
