Where are my keys?!

AwFeebs · 27/05/2021 18:35

This morning I was rushing and got in the car didn't have the keys but our car has push start button so as long as the keys are in the vehicle it'll start.

Dropped off and returned home fine, went to nip out again and the keys no where to be seen. I've turned the car upside down. If I'd of dropped the keys after drop off the car would alert me that I was driving without the fob in the car.

I am stumped.

I’ve got an Air Tag on my keys. Have you got an iPhone? It works on the Find my iPhone app. Locates the tag and makes it play a sound. And works on the tile principal of using other phones to bounce a signal back to yours.

For future reference obviously. When you’ve found them. Grin

I haven't @MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig I've recently changed to android!

Definitley going to invest in the tile!

It really is winding me up.

Well at least you know they must be in the house somewhere or as you say the car would have told you.

If I put my phone down on top of mine it says key fob no longer detected. Such a sensitive soul.

MiddleClassMother · 29/05/2021 23:12

Any luck?

FinallyFluid · 29/05/2021 23:56

They are with the plug for my sink, I mean WTAF how does a metal sink plug disappear into thin air.

Do you want to say what make of car it is? I once hired a Hyundai Kona and had to extend the hire for an full day because the car would still drive but the electronic key fob was missing. I searched every inch of the car, visited everywhere I'd parked that day, covered acres of country park in case dropped on a walk. Eventually found a tiny ledge below the dashboard but above the central storage bit where I usually put them. There they were, totally invisible! Other car models might have similar quirks that owners could explain?

peridito · 30/05/2021 08:55

Have you been through the rubbish at home ? Could they be folded inside something ? In a mask put in the washing ? Up high somewhere ?

How about recreating your movements ,exiting car, entering house ,patting needy dog? Could they be tangled in his coat ,under his collar ?

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/05/2021 09:01

Fridge. That's where i tend to find things. No idea how why I put them there

peridito · 30/05/2021 09:03

Yes ,I've done the fridge thing !

peridito · 30/05/2021 09:05

Partner once left glasses balanced somehow on upper ledge of the hatchback on our car . But they would have fallen once hatchback closed .

AwFeebs · 30/05/2021 09:50

It's a Ford Cmax, I really don't think the keys are in there as if they were the car would have started. 🙈

I've checked the rubbish and the fridge. As well as washing.

I know I didn't do a lot because the time from coming home and attempting to go the groomers was only 45 mins give or take.

Once lost mine and found them in the hood of a jacket, must have been just fallen in when it was being hung up.

Chocoholicmumma · 30/05/2021 18:18

Dc school bags?

AwFeebs · 30/05/2021 20:44

Checked both coats and school bags. 😩

Fightingfirewithfire · 30/05/2021 20:52

Have u check it's not attached itself to the dog lead or collar. That metal may be enough to interfere with the signal.

Where does the dog sit in the car to take him to the groomers?

MiddleClassMother · 30/05/2021 20:53

Dog eaten the key? It's not unheard of😳

Loveatortie · 30/05/2021 21:14

Put the dog in the car and it starts, promlem solvedGrin

OhWifey · 01/06/2021 07:44

Under the car, on the driveway?

AwFeebs · 01/06/2021 08:51

Checked under car and around parking spaces.

I really don't see the dog eating them, in 3 years shes never so much as sniffed the keys. She was also sat on the sofa with me the whole time. Grin

Hello OP.
Did you go to the food cupboard, or have a letter in your hand from the medical place? But then again, you said you didn't have anything with you when exiting the car. Did you have a bag which could've caught the fob?
I memorably lost a set of keys for six months, turned out we'd took down a cork board to look at something and then the hook on the back of the board picked the keys up. You couldn't make it up!

itsgettingwierd · 01/06/2021 09:03

My ds dropped my cars keys in my old car one day between the front seats.

Definitely dropped there as he got in whilst I paid at supermarket and was in car when I got back.

We never did find them - sorry

peridito · 01/06/2021 09:07

I've no idea of the size of the key/fob in question but I've lost a couple of things in the car .Found them months later slipped down into a crevice near the handbrake mounting .

AwFeebs · 09/06/2021 13:23

THEY'VE BEEN FOUND 🙈😬

They were under my bonnet?! Even though I swore I checked there.

Mechanic just found them. Blush
