Genuine question. Is that how it is done now ?

I've worked since 2012 in a couple of different organisations and never had a physical payslip - always downloaded from the HR system on the company's intranet.

You just save the email/file to your computer.

Pinkblueberry · 27/05/2021 17:55

A lot of places use an online system where you have an account and it all gets saved there - you can download them and save elsewhere if you like or print out. I’ve never done either though. P60s also get sent to that account now.

I used to get a wide green payslip from my Saturday job at the local library, that was in the last millennium though!

DappledThings · 27/05/2021 19:11

I haven't had a paper payslip for years. I find it quite quaint that DH still does.

Notaroadrunner · 27/05/2021 19:14

I send our employees payslips via email with password. Ds gets his via email. Unless your Ds is deleting all his emails they'll just remain there. Otherwise he could open a fine to save them to.

Notaroadrunner · 27/05/2021 19:14

a 'file' to save them to

NakedBanana · 27/05/2021 19:19

I didn't even know that printed payslips still existed! You'll be telling me next that some people still get paid weekly, in cash, in a brown handwritten envelope!!

The PPs saying print them out, can you explain why? I've never printed out and just wondered if I'm missing something :)

I think the point is that you should have access to them in case you leave your job, so if they are only on a work intranet, will you still have access?

Germolenequeen · 27/05/2021 19:42

Mine are by email and password protected - I keep them in their own folder
This 🙂

No, but when someone hands in their notice one of the standard things they are advised to do is download all their payslips so they can access them later if needed.

But in 20 years of working I have never needed to go back more than 3 months and that was only on the rare occasions I've been applying for a mortgage.

If I were to leave my job now I'd probably download a year's worth to be on the safe side but I'm not sure what for!

WildWaterSwimmer · 27/05/2021 19:55

We have to log-on to the intranet and print ours off every month.

I needed my e from 2015 recently. I was being security verified for a new job and one of my old work refused a reference as my name has changed 🙄. They wanted proof that I had been employed there.
