Genuine question. Is that how it is done now ?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/05/2021 05:59

Yep, our company started doing this at the beginning of the year.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/05/2021 08:40

@bizzey

So how do you have proof of income if you dont ssve them ?
They're always available on the company intranet. Plus once the P60 is issued for that financial year, past payslips are more or less redundant.

But I already have a mortgage, have worked for the same employer for nearly 30 years and have no plans to change jobs. Obviously if I left, I'd make sure I downloaded my P60s and pay slips for the current financial year, so I had access to them if I ever needed them.

I actually have paper copies of all my P60s but I don't know if they're still issued as paper or are electronic only. It's interesting to see how my salary, tax rates, even how they're presented and printed has changed over the years.

LIZS · 27/05/2021 08:41

Or via a employer intranet to download

Geamhradh · 27/05/2021 08:43

Mine have been sent like that for about 4 years now. Secured- we have a one time password to access the document and download/print.

GappyValley · 27/05/2021 08:43

I haven’t had a paper payslip since about 2010

On the intranet or sent in a password-protected email for every employer since then

DH was getting paper payslips posted home until he moved jobs last year

GADDay · 27/05/2021 08:43

Haven't had a physical payslip since the early 2000's. Do they even still exist?

BeyondMyWits · 27/05/2021 08:47

Both payslips and P60s are available online for us. I do print off the P60s for my records as I guess if my employers accountant went bust, the portal might disappear overnight.

Megan2018 · 27/05/2021 08:47

I have had online payslips since 2002 with several different companies. I download and save as PDF’s so I have them when I leave.

BikeRunSki · 27/05/2021 08:49

We also get our payslips online, have done for 9 years. They just stay online, and we can download or print them off as required if we need to.

OrangePowder · 27/05/2021 08:50

My dad has every pay slip from when he started work at 14 in 1955 until he retired Grin

Yes, all electronic here now too.

RoseMartha · 27/05/2021 08:52

Yes had mine by email for over 6 years.

milveycrohn · 27/05/2021 08:56

Most companies now do it like this, but in my view you should download them, keep them until you get the p60 at the end if the tax year. Then you should keep p60s, but no need to keep payslips.
I would then only keep if there was something specific or different / unusual, that you may need evidence of at a future date

PattyPan · 27/05/2021 09:03

Ours are on an online system we log in to view. I’m 26 and have never had a paper payslip.

maddy68 · 27/05/2021 09:05

I can't remember the last time i has a physical payslip. Been online for many many years in every company I've worked with

MrsFin · 27/05/2021 11:05

All you people who say you print them out - why? What's the point of printing them?
The chances are that if you need to show them to someone, say for a mortgage application, you'd need to do it electronically anyway.

theemmadilemma · 27/05/2021 11:09

Online. Same, not had an actual payslip in 25 or more years.

GappyValley · 27/05/2021 11:14

I had been fine submitting online payslips until I remortgaged to HSBC a few years ago. They don't accept online payslips, so I had to print them out and post them, along with the corresponding bank statements showing the money going in at the same time
newnortherner111 · 27/05/2021 11:15

Ours are online via a secure weblink unless we opt for a physical one. Annual P60 sent in the post.

Stopped having a physical one once I paid off the mortgage.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 27/05/2021 11:23

I get mine via email with a password-protected PDF attachment. I supplied the password to HR as part of my induction.

sotired2 · 27/05/2021 11:39

If on a Portal like Sage they are available to access/download anytime whilst still employed and still have access to this portal for 3 months after left employment.

Either print off or just download and save on a device.

As the one who runs a payroll its so much simpler than having to physically hand out payslips as Im not always in the office when they are and I've had zero requests since for copies of payslips as original lost and they now need proof of income so its a win win siuaiton!

Ginmakesitallok · 27/05/2021 11:42

Mine's on company intranet portal too- much better than paper copies

MiaRoma · 27/05/2021 11:44

@Rockbird

Through a portal, all the payslips are there with my P60s and a P45 so I can download them if I want.
This
MiaRoma · 27/05/2021 11:45

So how do you have proof of income if you dont ssve them ?

You'd email the payslip/s/P60 to whoever wanted them.

MrsFin · 27/05/2021 17:47

That's for a specific reason, which I understand.
But why do people putting them out as a matter of routine?

ImInStealthMode · 27/05/2021 17:48

Mine are by email and password protected; I keep them in their own folder.
