Costa Coffee

What is your favourite order? I'm looking for inspiration. I love my Costa but have to say I'm getting bored after years of ordering the same, small white latte with premium blend. I'm after a similar taste but with a kick. Maybe a syrup added or just something different.

What's your favourite tipple?

I like flavoured lattes - they usually change the syrup selections ever now & then - and mocha - get them iced if the weather is nice. Chai lattes are nice. Flat whites are good.

@purpleben

Is cortado similar to latte?
It's got less milk

Great info here, I'm going to try a Cortado next time I go and a vanilla latte sounds tasty. At least I'll feel a bit more confident next time 😂

I am another who likes a coconut milk latte even though I am a dairy milk drinker.

ShipshapeShore · 23/05/2021 15:24

So if that's a cortado and a latte, what's a flat white? I thought cortados were really small, I'm so confused!

Also, I'm quite fancying an oat milk coffee now but doesn't it go all curdly? I think the taste would be lovely but I'm not sure about the texture.

Bimblybomeyelash · 23/05/2021 15:29

I’m going to be that annoying poster and say that if you fancy something different then go to your local independent coffee shop and ask the barista there! Small businesses really need our supper right now.

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/05/2021 15:34

A cortado in Spain is the equivalent of a macchiato in Italy. It's an espresso coffee with a bit of hot milk, no froth. The Costa cortado is twice the size you'd get in Spain.

ElephantsNest · 23/05/2021 15:40

I agree @Bimblybomeyelash - can’t beat my local independent run by Italians who import and roast their own beans.

Nuggetnugget · 23/05/2021 15:42

I rarely go but it's a hot choc for me or a cappuccino

I don't even know what a chai latte is Blush

els10 · 23/05/2021 15:44

OP as a barista in my teenage years.. very confused at what a 'white latte' is?!

VioletViola · 23/05/2021 15:47

You can always ask the Barista if you're unsure - I've never had a bad experience with their staff who are well trained and know their stuff.

I like a plain old flat white (like a small latte but not as foamy) but if I want a little sweetness I ask them to add a pump of chai or hazelnut.

Caramel Cortado is also good but much smaller milk/coffee ratio so a bigger caffeine kick.

VioletViola · 23/05/2021 15:50

@Nuggetnugget

Chai is an indian tea. Its made with warm, sweet flavours like cinammon and vanilla. I think in Costa it comes as a flavoured syrup which they add hot milk to to make a Chai Latte.

Its a very pleasant, cosy drink.

Roominmyhouse · 23/05/2021 15:58

Another chai latte fan here. I’d been craving one for ages and had a Starbucks yesterday. It did not disappoint!

Billandben444 · 23/05/2021 16:04

Flat white always. I like to taste the coffee.

This is true, they certainly do, but Coata et al also employ people and will cut staff if their profits/ footfall dip.

The only responsibile solution, is to drink more coffee and give them all your patronage. 😀

flyingfreehold2021 · 23/05/2021 16:12

Coconut latte!!! Always!

tywysoges · 23/05/2021 16:15

Coconut flat white for me. Smile

stressbandit · 23/05/2021 16:20

Vanilla hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows chocolate sprinkles. But I don't order this no more as I've started thee gym and this is about 500 calories apparently Sad

Itstheprinciple · 23/05/2021 16:41

Decaf skinny cappuccino or a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows are my two costa drinks. Possibly something iced in summer. DD despairs at my decaf skinny cappuccino as she says what's the point? But too much caffeine makes me feel really unwell.

purpleben · 23/05/2021 17:04

Mmm sounds nice 👍

And I keep asking for this then realising what I've said, always get a giggle from the barista. See this is how rubbish I am at asking for coffee 😂

Lipsandlashes · 23/05/2021 17:11

Mine is always medium hazelnut latte. I’m I’m feeling like a bit more of a treat, I’ll ask them to add squirty cream. In summer I might switch it to iced hazelnut latte

MerlinsSaggyLeftTit · 23/05/2021 17:35

Oat caramel latte

CarolinaWeeper · 23/05/2021 17:56

I love a chai latte but definitely not from Costa, the ones from Starbucks, Pret or Café Paul are miles nicer.

CarolinaWeeper · 23/05/2021 17:57

From Costa I'd go for a skinny vanilla latte extra hot
