What's your highest step count in a day?

I felt pleased with myself for accomplishing 22,000 steps yesterday. I used to be a very sedentary person who probably averaged 2000 at most Blush

I looked at the Fitbit badges and there's one for 100,000 steps! In a single day! Confused

What's the highest you have reached?

About 72k!

SpaghettiSpoons · 23/05/2021 07:22

42,000 on a city break with no kids. And my back was bloody killing me!!!

BeneficiaryMadness · 23/05/2021 07:22

I’m sure people who ultra marathons will do that a lot though. It’s about 50 miles roughly

GirlCrush · 23/05/2021 07:56

64k to mile 21 of London marathon! Fitbit died then with 5 miles left to go and prob a couple of miles walking afterwards

wendz86 · 23/05/2021 08:13

About 27k when I was at Disneyland .

CormoranStrike · 23/05/2021 08:15

25k walking around Rome.

Weepingwillows12 · 23/05/2021 08:18

The message I am getting here is that if I want to get more fit I need a city break (when allowed) (ignoring all the mad marathon comments) Grin

  1. I usually do 23,000 on a Saturday as it is a busy work day but after work that day I thought my kitten had got out so I was out pounding the streets, he then turned up behind the sofa!
MedusasBadHairDay · 23/05/2021 08:22

11k, which isn't a lot compared to the rest of you. But as I'm disabled and normally can't manage more than about 2-3k I'm counting that one as a major win (though I did pay for it the next day).

mikadolado · 23/05/2021 08:23

I have only been wearing a fitbit for about 3 months though. I imagine when I was a teenager I would have done millions (perhaps not literally) in a day as we just used to traipse round constantly round the shops. We were never in! No internet then, and we certainly didn't want to sit inside with our parents... my teen on the other hand barely leaves the house some days!

LizziesTwin · 23/05/2021 08:24

Just under 50,000, it stopped at midnight & I was still on my way home. I had been to a music festival so it was mainly dancing.

cariadlet · 23/05/2021 08:27

I've just gone back and found a few days where I did about 26k or 27k and one where I did 29k. Looking at the dates, the days when I did most steps look like times when I was on holiday.

Usual number of steps on a day when I'm working is between 15k and 19k. Generally much less at weekends.

I can't imagine doing 100k in a day. That's a crazy amount.

Imissmoominmama · 23/05/2021 08:30

73k, eight months after a total hip replacement. I was pretty pleased with that!

My usual daily step count is between 14 and 20k, with many more on walking days.

Just happy I can walk properly again.

Babymeanswashing · 23/05/2021 08:33

I used to struggle to get to 10000 but now I usually get to between 15-20. I think the most I’ve done is 27.

MrsDThomas · 23/05/2021 08:36

Ive done is 32k in hours 10 mins. That was when i did the snowdon race. Up and down.

Then 65k for the Snowdonia marathon in 4:25. I was so broken😂

I now average 10k a day. Don’t walk much at work so i now run 3-4 miles a day or walk it.

MrsDThomas · 23/05/2021 08:37

Sorry 32k in 2 hours 10 mins!

yeOldeTrout · 23/05/2021 08:40

I wonder what the 100k person did. A 30 miles/one day walk?

Mine maxes around 32k/day. I was pretty darn tired yesterday, 22k (2 mile walk with dog 2 carboot sales as a seller)

Babymeanswashing · 23/05/2021 08:41

I do find mine is good though because it used to encourage me to do just a bit more.
So say after a day at work I was on 6700, I’d go for a walk to get to 10000. So a good way of just encouraging a bit more movement!

cupsofcoffee · 23/05/2021 08:43

On average I do between 15-22k steps a day as a dog walker. That's normally around 3x hour walks plus pop-in visits and cat feedings.

Clarabellawilliamson · 23/05/2021 08:45

How does your Fitbit count correlate with the step counter on your phone? I don't have a Fitbit but find the phone counter very satisfying- I am pleased with myself if I have done more steps. I think it must under count though as I don't have it on me all the time- especially at work. I would love to know a more accurate number!

paralysedbyinertia · 23/05/2021 08:45

About 38k - this is mainly from a local walk that dd and I like to do sometimes. I've also had high step counts from city breaks, though.

They're generally pretty similar if I have my phone with me for all of the walking tbh.
xyzandabc · 23/05/2021 08:49

About 70k the day we did Snowdon a few years ago. Youngest DD was only 7 with much smaller legs, no idea how many she must have done!

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 23/05/2021 13:18

143k! Ultramarathon. Sadly not a weekly occurrence.
