How expensive is Miller and Carter?

It's my 30th birthday next month and I'd like to go somewhere fancier than normal for a meal with DH. I looked on the website but they don't actually show prices (that I can see). Roughly what does an average meal for two cost at M&C? Neither of us tend to have starters so just a main, dessert and a drink or two each. I know everyones prices will differ but just a ballpark sort of figure...

Although I've just priced up what I want this weekend and it's already coming up to £90 without drinks 😂

FizzyPink · 18/05/2021 17:55

It really isn’t great and not for your 30th. If you want steak you’d be much better off with an independent steak restaurant than Miller & Carter.

Whereabouts are you OP and maybe we can suggest somewhere better?

Stretchandsnap · 18/05/2021 17:58

I’ve been once and it was rubbish - I wouldn’t go again. My steak was very poor. I’d go independent if possible

InTheNightWeWillWish · 18/05/2021 17:59

I found it a bit expensive for what you get really. I’ve had better steak for similar or less prices.

The onion loaf is really good though.

JorisBonson · 18/05/2021 18:00

Its really nothing to write home about. For the money you're paying you can go somewhere with much better food.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 18/05/2021 18:07

I'm in Lincolnshire, in close proximity to Lincoln, Scunthorpe and Doncaster Smile

Overpriced, where do you live?

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 18/05/2021 18:33

@tigerbreadandtea in Lincolnshire

The prices are there.
We went yesterday and had scallops , Calamari 3 cocktails a beer a t bone chips and a bread board. It was about £90.

EmmaJR1 · 18/05/2021 19:50

It's not posh though...

notacooldad · 18/05/2021 19:52

Dress code is smart casual
That's a reasonable request.

PeckyOwl · 18/05/2021 19:58

La Boca in Doncaster is good (Argentinian steakhouse).

LoveSleeping · 18/05/2021 20:58

You can do so much better than Miller and Carter for the same rice or less.

Overhyped, overpriced and very average chain restaurant in my experience.

Agree with looking at independent restaurants locally.

LoveSleeping · 18/05/2021 21:02

Same rice??? PRICE Blush

nomorehiccups · 18/05/2021 21:10

Reminded me of TGI's but with slightly better food. Not a 30th birthday venue.

skybluee · 18/05/2021 21:13

I went one time and it was amazing - one of the best meals I've ever had. Went another time and it wasn't very nice :(.

cherrypiepie · 18/05/2021 21:14

Hope and anchor south ferriby - 15 mins from Scunthorpe.

It is a reasonable request. But doesn’t it worry you that they feel they have to make the request in the first place? Are people showing up in stained trackies and torn hoodies?

I’ve been loads of posh and expensive restaurants and none had a dress code, apart from a Michelin Star place and even that was only because it was New Year’s Eve. They made my husband change. 😂

Workyticket · 18/05/2021 21:16

@Patapouf

It's like rip off harvester. The food isn't great I'm afraid
Our local one is in an old Harvester. It's shit. The one in the next city over is lovely though
Northernsoullover · 18/05/2021 21:17

I like it. The steaks are good. We usually pay around 40 quid each.

SappysCurry · 18/05/2021 21:18

I don’t know why people are surprised at dress code, I think it’s good it stops dirty trackie bottoms and stained hoody blokes popping in straight from work and it’s more hygienic

SappysCurry · 18/05/2021 21:19

@TheDuchessOfBeddington
I think we crossed 🤔

But wholly agree

Chicchicchicchiclana · 18/05/2021 21:31

Miller & Carter ... Harvester ... but who here remembers the Berni Inn? Grin

SappysCurry · 18/05/2021 21:35

I do
I am old 🥲
And Pizza Land where they did a slice of pizza, jacket potato and coleslaw
I actually miss Pizza Land
I think it was 90’s used to go to the one in Southampton
