Footless Tights - Why Might I Want Them?

Just been looking at my favourite tights online retailer.

They sell footless tights.

Now I presume they aren’t the same weight as leggings or they would be leggings rather than footless tights.

Why would a person (and they specialise in plus sizes) want footless tights?

Oohh following as have been wondering the same thing.

We used to wear footless tights under a leotard at school to do modern dance and aerobics (back in the '80s)

I like them because I'm always bare foot so I worry about snagging them on the floor

I like them and have loads. I wear them with knee length dresses. They fit far better than leggings, aren’t as hot and look better with converse than tights. Also you can wear sandals with them.

Disclaimer: I’m no fashionista and I wear what I like. I couldn’t give a shiny fuck if they’re considered terrible by people who know a lot more about clothes than me! Also I’m super pale and don’t tan so I think the footless tights look a lot better than the glare of my pale Scottish skin on a summer’s day!

I hate the feeling of tights,especially how suffocating they are on the toes! I would wear footless tights given the choice.

However,I never ever wear tights and don’t understand why people do!

I’m almost 6 ft and I sometimes wear footless tights. They are much comfier than ordinary ones which are generally too short. I only wear them if I am wearing long boots though so you don’t see the gap at the ankle. I used to wear them with “smarter” dresses where legging fabric would look wrong. Not worn that type of clothes in the last year though! But they are so much more comfortable on my body shape

@Xigris oh I exclusively wear tunics/dresses with leggings and converse for work.

Maybe I need to embrace the footless tight

Because you may have legs slightly on the long side. I'm only a couple of inches taller than average, but I find that tights with feet are never long enough.

@BathshebaKnickerStickers I used to love a tunic with my footless tights but sadly 3 children has made me too tubby for that and makes me look like a sack of spuds.

You should really try the footless tights! I’ve got loads of different colours. I love them! I bought mine off Amazon so not wildly expensive either

Another reason! I also converted one of my best friends to footless tights. She’s ASD and finds ordinary tights really trigger her tactile sensitivities especially round the toes. Footless tights were a game changer for her

For dancers?

Or if you are wearing boots and your feet are hidden you can wear socks and be more comfortable

I had some in the 70's for yoga - in the 80's they went into the kids dressing up box and my DS used them as part of his Batman outfit.

Do you want to dress up as Batman ?

For the tall long legged women, Snag Tights fit perfectly.
Snag also do footless tights.
I wear them under short skirts when it's warmer and I don't want to wear tights but don't want bare legs.

Long legs. If I buy large tights they feel suffocating and are constantly falling down

Footless tights stay up

Inside boots. I dislike that whilst putting my feet into boots my tights get tighter and tighter around my toes, curling them up uncomfortably. Footless tights mean I don’t have the problem and can wear warmer, socks as well.

I’m too old to wear them in any other situation except if I did a dance class - which I don’t.

They stop chub rub under a dress/skirt.

I am over 6ft, footless tights prevent that double crotch feeling. Brilliant under boots

Because tights are not that comfortable on your feet. With footless tights you can wear socks instead.

@SleepyMama25 maybe your sense of humour got chopped off with the feet of your tights...

They are not the same as leggings, leggings are either the sports leggings material which are fine, comfy and neat looking but you wouldn't wear with a tunic or dress, or cotton leggings which I find awful, they're too thick to wear under a knee length dress, they fade in the wash and they go baggy especially at the knees and look like fuck all. Footless rights aren't as thick and cling properly so they look and feel much better.

I actually find snag tights much more comfortable than wearing no tights at all, I'm a bit wobbly so I like everything all wrapped up and obviously it's rare that we get bare legs weather.
