I loved it too. Watched it in the cinema when it was released and re-watched it today on Netflix.

SocraticJunkieWannabe · 08/05/2021 21:15

I loved the songs and found his life story very interesting but some of the slightly surreal fantasy sequences were extremely cringy. I thought overall it felt a bit like a jukebox stage musical that didn't transfer very well to the screen.

Is it suitable for a 13 year old ? Swearing ok but not sex !

I wouldn't let my 12 year old watch it - probably not for a couple of years Blush
feelinggeriatric · 08/05/2021 21:25

That's what I suspected !

Germolenequeen · 08/05/2021 21:50

Much preferred Bohemian Rhapsody but thought Rocketman was OK as I love the tunes

wusbanker · 08/05/2021 21:52

Weirdly I watched this last night and thought it was awful. No real storyline, way too many flashbacks/dream scenes and the song and dance bits were cringey. Bohemian Rhapsody is 10x better.

towers14 · 08/05/2021 21:53

Great film, decided to read his autobiography afterwards, enjoyed that too.

Maggiesfarm · 08/05/2021 21:54

I thought it was dreadful and I am an Elton fan. It wasn't what I expected and I was disappointed.

EachandEveryone · 08/05/2021 21:57

I loved it. And it was better the second time.

luckylady22 · 08/05/2021 22:00

I loved this film and I'm going to watch it again now it's on Netflix

CheerfulBunny · 08/05/2021 22:07

Just watched it and loved it. Found it quite moving - so horrible the way his Dad rejected him.

FVFrog · 08/05/2021 22:09

I love it! Have just watched again for the 3rd time with my daughter. We were commenting on how it’s almost written to be transferred to stage, it would make a brilliant live musical.

Figgygal · 08/05/2021 22:11

Taron egerton was brilliant in it

Lulu1919 · 08/05/2021 22:14

It was not what I was expecting....but I did enjoy it ..I think !!!!

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/05/2021 22:15

I thought it was just OK.

DarlingWithoutYou · 08/05/2021 22:18

Deffo one of my favourite movies now- love it. Taron Egerton is a dream!

MOB247 · 08/05/2021 22:22

Love this film! Taron was so amazing in it.

elp30 · 08/05/2021 22:48

I love Elton John's music and I'm glad so many people like this film.
Personally, I didn't like it at all. I found it really cringey.

I don't care for Queen's music but I loved Bohemian Rhapsody.

Indiana2021 · 08/05/2021 22:49

I was actually watching it through my fingers at points and eventually had to switch it off. I was cringing.
I though Bohemian Rhapsody (if you can ignore some slightly iffy acting from some of the cast) was absolutely brilliant though.

PermanentTemporary · 08/05/2021 22:51

I really enjoyed it but I love musicals and films that play around with reality and fantasy.

Balaur · 08/05/2021 23:00

Taron Egerton's charm as an actor really carries this film. He's brilliant in it.

Hotcuppatea · 08/05/2021 23:02

I loved it! The last scene is brilliant IMO.
