Relentless cold weather

Anyone else finding the cold never ending and making everything a bit miserable?

I’m fed up of my massive winter coat, and cold walks through parks, getting the kids into 5,000 layers before we leave the house.

I’m sure the weather is normally nicer than this at this point?

We do the school run by bike. My fingers were so cold when I got home yesterday that I couldn’t work the clip on my bike helmet - DH had to come and take it off for me 🥶

And I’ve just lit the fire. It’s going to be May tomorrow!

spud cold cycling fingers are the worst.

Really fed up with it. It looks like we have another week of cold rainy weather before things improve from the 12th May unless the forecast changes again. We have had a frost every morning this week.

Used to be that you'd plant out annuals before the end of May at your own risk. Then mid May was 'safe' and only in the last 5-10 years would you risk an early May planting out.
I'm back to wondering whether moving stuff out to an unheated grow house is risky today Sad

It’s actually good news. Chilly springs usually mean a heatwave in summer, if you think back to 2013 and 2018. But hot springs often mean a wet miserable summer.

Up here in Scotland we had sleet yesterday. Heating is still on. We were just saying that even up here it is usually warmer than this. My garden has very little growing and I think the frost has killed off some of my plants. The trees are still pretty bare and usually they would be green by now.

But I don't want a heatwave! Just 4 distinct seasons would be nice, rather than 10 months of winter and 2 months of summer 😐

My friend said the forecaster on her local news said the opposite. If Spring is chilly then we usually have a pretty bad summer

That makes more sense to me! Last year we had a lively spring and a hot summer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lovely not lively 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's because we've f*cked the climate.

But people will kick on with their log burners regardless.
