Anyone else? You know where you're so excited to be OUT and actually buying stuff that you make some questionable choices?

Yesterday I went out to a little outdoor market thing. The very first stall in the row had 'alternative' scented candles with flavours like gun smoke and car tyres. I bought myself a Wet Grass, which smelled great at the time (in my excitement) but now I just can't work out how I feel about it. It was not cheap. Then I bought a foot high remote control Dalek, which remains a good decision.

Who else has found themselves getting carried away?

YES!! I went into Primark for my (usual) stock up of cheap sunglasses (you know....as I'm always losing/sitting on them) and came out with a new jumper, a raincoat (that I don't need) and three new pairs of socks Shock. And I hate Primark!!

TooManyAnimals94 · 25/04/2021 20:53

Her name is Ruby but we have a foal due soon so will put Dalek on the maybe list for names 😂

murasaki · 25/04/2021 21:39

I bought a piano yesterday. I have no idea where I'm going to put it!

Hexinthecity · 25/04/2021 21:45

I bought a car! Just taken a new job which isn’t working from home so needed wheels (it’s a banger though so I can’t get too excited about it 😂)

LunaNorth · 25/04/2021 21:51

60 quid on a bottle of perfume that I’ve never even smelled just because someone said on here that it smelt nice.

A £250 replica of a cardi worn by Marilyn Monroe, because of a thread on here about cardies.

I should stay off here.

Mrsfrumble · 25/04/2021 21:52

I wonder weather the problem with the candles is that they interact / mingle with the smell of your home (that you yourself can’t smell, but visitors can), a bit like how perfume smells a bit different on each person depending on their skin.

Anyway, the dalek and pony are amazing! Grin I’ve been very dull and only bought a jumper, albeit a fancy merino one I can ill afford.

SquishySquirmy · 25/04/2021 21:59

The dalek is really irresponsible.
I know this thread is supposed to be "lighthearted" but I can't believe I'm the first poster to point this out.

Yes, they look very cute when they're a foot tall. But it won't stay a foot tall for long!
Will you still want it when its massive and trying to exterminate the cat? Or will you flush it down the loo?
Rescues are PACKED and the sewers are overrun thanks to Greedy irresponsible back yard dalek farmers and naive impulse buyers like yourself.

A dalek is for life, not just for lockdown.

You're so right. As if there weren't enough things to worry about without semi feral daleks roaming the streets because idiots can't own up to their responsibility.
Cushionsnotpillows · 25/04/2021 22:45

You should at least have tried to adopt from Daleks Trust, where they never put a still circling dalek down.

Mrsfrumble · 25/04/2021 22:46

LunaNorth what was the perfume?

LunaNorth · 26/04/2021 08:09

@Mrsfrumble Santal 33.

It hasn’t turned up yet, and I just know I’ll hate it Blush

Hexinthecity · 26/04/2021 09:10

@LunaNorth Grin I bought a sample because of the same thread, it’s lovely!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/04/2021 09:20

@SquishySquirmy @TooManyAnimals94 and @Cushionsnotpillows

I don't think you're being fair. I had no idea when I bought the Dalek that I would need to go back to work after the weekend. Also it needs to roll in circles a lot more than I anticipated, and I don't think that Dr Who gives an accurate picture of its exercise and extermination needs. Last night DS tried to resist it and it nearly exterminated him. I have consulted a behaviorist but she was too expensive and I don't have any Dalek walkers in my area. I do feel I've tried everything here, so I don't know why you're being so snippy 😟

Thank you for my new username Grin

I'm waiting for payday then I'm going to go WILD in TKMaxx. Its been a shit six months and I am absolutely rabid for it!

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 26/04/2021 09:29

I've booked a lot of AirBnBsBlush

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/04/2021 09:45

@SemiFeralDalek you're welcome Grin I don't know if TKMaxx will have much that fits your body shape (warty cylinder with sink plunger) but the death ray will certainly help with queuing.

I've been out, spent on a few random bits in tiger, paperchase and the works. I'm not yet out the mindset that I'm allowed just to browse, so I always pick up something....as if to justify I definitely went for something specific... another notebook is REALLY essential.

But I'm double spending too...I've not yet gone off my amazon habit.

LunaNorth · 26/04/2021 09:56

That’s good to hear - on two counts.

Thank goodness I’m not the only one 🐑

Cushionsnotpillows · 26/04/2021 10:01

Scotland non-essential retail opens up today. My stationery addiction is about to get a massive hit.

coldwarenigma · 26/04/2021 11:04

I have been looking at ads for kayaks...
I'm about to move house, there are more important purchases..Grin

LostInTime · 26/04/2021 11:22

Well, if you're moving close to a river, a kayak is obviously an essential purchase! It would be rude not to. Grin

This thread has made me laugh so much, thank you!

lolacola77 · 26/04/2021 11:27

What's the Marilyn cardi??

coldwarenigma · 26/04/2021 12:26

Lost
Yep near rivers and even better, near the sea...

LunaNorth · 26/04/2021 12:31

The perfume arrived...I don’t love it. I mean, it’s okay...
