Seriously good prosecco

Autosavepassword · 23/04/2021 13:42

Can anyone point me towards a very, very good bottle of prosecco- there is no budget. I don't drink so I would have absolutely no idea if the stuff I would potentially be buying is only fit for cleaning the toilet.

Its needed for a gift for someone who I know drinks the stuff and has gone above and beyond to help me out.

Thanks.

Mionetto and Valdo are two original, good brands of prosecco. Real prosecco is only made near Treviso in Veneto.

Its full name is Prosecco di Vadobbiadene.

" English sparkling wine, it’s tastier than Prosecco and a bit classier " classer? according to which criteria?

@Wearywithteens

If champagne was really that great then everybody would be buying that, but Prosecco is far more drinkable for the average palate. I remember my first glass of it in an Italian restaurant way before it was popular - it was divine. Unfortunately the quality has gone down and a lot of them are just cheap mass-produced sugary fizz now. The Aldi organic was a good one though.
Not really because champagne is more expensive than prosecco usually.
Kittykat93 · 23/04/2021 18:40

Why is everyone saying to buy champagne instead?? The op has said her friend prefers prosecco. Just because you might not like it doesn't mean other people dont ffs

LucyFox · 23/04/2021 18:44

Freixenet looks quite fancy in its bottle & I don’t think anyone would turn it down - it’s sort of a “I put thought into this gift” type look

alliejay81 · 23/04/2021 18:49

I really don't understand why people come onto a thread asking for a good Prosecco just to say Prosecco is rubbish and you should get champagne/ cava instead.

The market is flooded with cheap Prosecco, but that doesn't mean all Prosecco is crap. I buy Bottega, which comes in a very bling-tactic gold bottom but is very nice. I also like some of the Abbazia ones.

RainbowMum11 · 23/04/2021 18:50

I prefer Prosecco to Champagne generally, but a Cremant is absolutely beautiful.

Smile This is true and I completely misread the op thinking she just meant bubbly. That being the case i also rate the Sainsbury’s Conegliano. 👍

That’s the thing. It’s not about the taste, as a gift is should look like some thought has went into it and a bottle of Aldi or sainsbos own label doesn’t do that.

This.

I think this is a really lovely bottle of prosecco

M&S Rose Prosecco is really yummy. It’s only about £10.
But if there’s no budget get champagne. Moët is my favourite.

QuattroFormaggi · 23/04/2021 19:02

Choose one of these.

www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2020/08/the-10-best-proseccos-of-2020/

Prosecco is NOT made from the worst grapes, any more that any wine style is. There's good and bad in every category. As a wine professional I have been fortunate in having tasted some of the very best wines made, and would include several Proseccos in there. And not cheap either! £100 +
Id choose a Prosecco Valdobbiadene over a cheap own label Champagne on most occasions

AC12reject · 23/04/2021 19:08

If they drink prosecco, do not be distracted by champagne.. I've a cupboard full of high end stuff given as gifts and neither my husband nor I can not bear the stuff.
M&S, Tesco (the slightly dearer but still affordable bottle) are nice. You could buy a tray of 6 bottles from M&S online if you wanted to spend a few more quid.

AC12reject · 23/04/2021 19:08

Meant to say I love prosecco 🤣

Kezzie200 · 23/04/2021 19:39

Camel Valley Rose Brut Sparkling. Live it on a summers day.

Esatto! Brava!

Chapel Down sparkling white wine is amazing and far better than a Prosecco. My sister bought us some for our wedding anniversary and we loved it.
That saying I do really rate the Sainsbury's ttd Prosecco

BrioLover · 23/04/2021 21:02

If it's a present go for www.vinkind.com

All the sparkling options (prosecco, champagne, Cremant) on there are really good and you can't get them in the supermarket which I personally really like for when I am giving a gift.

Womencanlift · 23/04/2021 21:11

Another one who is here to say that prosecco and champagne are two different drinks so have no idea why people are suggesting that when the OP asked for Prosecco recommendations

If someone bought me champagne it would go to waste as I think it tastes absolutely horrible. But I do enjoy a glass of Prosecco.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/04/2021 22:34

Errrr it hasn’t descended in to T-shirts saying TIME FOR PROSECCO or place mats or mugs or comedy huge wine glasses that say THE PROSECCO MADE ME DO IT

That’s what I mean by it being classier

AGirlHasNoShame · 23/04/2021 23:43

Ugh the snobbery on this thread. Op asked for Prosecco recommendations not one upmanship

Nonmaquillee · 23/04/2021 23:49

If you're not limited by a budget, why don't you buy champagne? Much nicer.

Whereisthewarmth · 24/04/2021 00:41

Definitely not champagne...

Only one I liked was high grove...

Whereisthewarmth · 24/04/2021 00:43

Champagne is very different and to me more in cider category....

Which is also in teen pucking in Park with worst hangover ever, I still remember 30 years on....

Prosecco is lighter... Better...
