I always feel bad for the unpopular pots in the drawer that only get used maybe twice a year.

The bottles of AstraZeneca going unused after giving people fatal blood clots...
How have they given people blood clots if they’re unused?
Raahh · 08/04/2021 15:51

Bobkitten- I eat the heads of jelly babies first for the same reason. Eating them feet first (which dd2 insisted on doingShock) is just torturing them Sad.

Grin.

My poor poor poor car

My bmw was 7 when i bought her. Shiny and lovely. For 15 years i drove her every day, every day, and she never let me down. She did lots of family holidays to the coast. She took me to the hospital to have DD. She did a billion shopping trips. Not one single accident or dent.

But at the end of last year all her electric bits all started failing at once Shock Her water all fell out and her oil started leaking even harder and we decided to - gulp - call someone to take her away. She'd done enough.

She started up first time on that last day and the bloke drove her onto the lorry and smashed her into the car in front :(

I still have the certificate of destruction email unopened in my inbox :( :( :(

I feel sorry for the sick bowl. There's no reason for us choosing that particular bowl but that is it's destiny.

Must be a laugh a minute in your house Hmm

What about a good jar.

^^

Not exactly inanimate, but less than perfect/slightly wonky Christmas trees that sit there all forlorn because nobody wants to buy them.

And (years ago now) the poor little unloved mobile phone in the TV ad, tramping the wet dark streets all alone because his owner had ditched him for a new one. 😢

ChocOrange1 · 08/04/2021 16:55

@Loveisthehope

Neglected toys, Pixar certainly knew what they knew they were doing when they made all the Toy Story films Sad
Oh definitely. Not all toys, but any with a face like teddies or dolls. We are forever adopting them from charity shops and my daughter does actual love and play with them (she is 4). We regularly donate to a children's charity who gives toys to local children in need so I can kid myself they will be loved by another child.

Oh you lot have reminded me of my old car. It was a green VW Caravelle. Had it 12 years. Not the prettiest but it started every time. We brought my mum to the hospice in it and brought my dad to her grave a couple of days before he died. Not ashamed to say I sobbed my heart out when a speeding idiot rearended her and wrote her off.

SquirrelFan Omg that made me laugh! Grin

Mrsfrumble · 08/04/2021 18:25

I always apologise to the dishwasher if I have to open it after the cycle has already started and I’ve spotted a stray teaspoon on the counter.

Real Christmas trees that don’t get sold make me sad too. They’re grown for one purpose and they don’t get to fulfill it! At least the sold ones get their moment of glory before going in the chipper Sad

Serena1977 · 08/04/2021 18:26

My car. Poor thing has DC regularly dirtying it and me and dh also give it a fair amount of abuse.

Food that's not eaten. The last strand in the grated cheese bag, the single sweetcorn not eaten etc

Clawdy · 08/04/2021 18:29

A mug or plate in the wrong cupboard or shelf, so they're not with their friends!

hobbyiscodefordogging · 08/04/2021 18:32

I had a friend who felt sorry for pipes when she put hot water down them. She actually used to apologise every time she ran the hot water 😂

Notashandyta · 08/04/2021 18:36

Toilets.

YoniAndGuy · 08/04/2021 18:40

@YouTediousShit

OMG *@YoniAndGuy* I've just noticed your post too. That's exactly how I feel. I've told so many people in my life, but nobody ever admitted to feeling the same.
High five for the bean supporters @YouTediousShit Grin

This thread is so sweet and I’m glad to see it’s not just me who dies this. I love the thought of giving the cherry tomatoes a dignified execution!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/04/2021 19:19

When lorries/vans have a teddy or stuff animal strapped to the front grill. Makes me feel sad for them.

Exactly the same here - a vehicle is a big strong metal box designed to protect the precious inhabitants, but the smallest and most vulnerable of all is wilfully denied that and left outside in all weathers and conditions. Yes, as well, to the teddies who end up in charity shops.

Can I choose a very small part of an object? I always really pity the very top 5% of a mug, cup or glass. It will never properly contain a refreshing drink for its master or mistress. Other than acting as a very brief rough conduit, it's only purpose is to act as an anti-spillage buffer zone so that the lower 95% can do its seriously important job with pride and dignity. Then again, I suppose it gets a sort of kiss several times from its user, which the rest never does, soooo....

Chunkymenrock · 08/04/2021 19:22

Bright and cheerful plastic picnicware being sold off in October, at half price.

Tempusfudgeit · 08/04/2021 19:25

The cactus that was somehow left in a dark box unwatered for 8 months after we moved house. Dammit, I will resurrect it!

Crunchymum · 08/04/2021 19:41

My pram (well the pram that has served all 3 of my children)

I'd had it 8 years and it was a good one. It was used almost daily, saw all the kids well into toddlerdom. It came on holiday with us, and it even bought the youngest home from neonatal. It was a huge support when I was having flare ups (arthritis).

Felt quite bereft to bin it but it actually broke and wasn't safe to pass on / give to charity.

cptartapp · 08/04/2021 20:12

Yes to the unwanted Christmas trees!
And those that sit in empty houses or offices on Christmas Day.
I always thank ours when I take it down in January Blush

Time40 · 09/04/2021 01:07

Awww - Flowers Flowers Flowers to the fellow car-lovers on this thread who have also lost beloved cars. It hurts!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 09/04/2021 02:42

I remember some years ago something like this...
Someone wouldn't put empty milk bottles out at night if it was going to be really cold as she felt sorry for them.
Someone else wouldn't mix knives and forks in a drawer as she thought they would argue.
My Mother was convinced that two small bushes in the garden didn't like her - ultimately they both died (the bushes that is!)

FrankensteinIsTheMonster · 09/04/2021 03:33

You're all completely insane, but in the loveliest possible way.
