The option to click on a thread and be taken to the last post I read, rather than starting at the first page again.

I would also love if when I clicked the you have been mentioned on the notifications, it would actually take me to where in the thread i've been mentioned.

What about you? What feature do you wish MN had?

OP, I feel terrible for you! How on earth could you possibly enjoy MN without using bookmarks? (I'm on the Archers thread which always gets close to 1000 posts - would be completely unfeasible without a bookmark.)

Then there are those unfortunate people who didn't realise they could highlight the OP's posts - they're the ones still urging her to cancel the cheque 900 posts in ...

Not forgetting you can use the 'See all' on the OP's posts so you can just read them and completely ignore anyone else's replies.

In my defence MN don't exactly make it easy to find these features.

Even now my bookmark button is invisible unless I hover over it. I've been silently fuming for years at how unintuitive the site is, and all along the have a feature I wanted.

I asked MN if they could set highlight OP's posts as a default, and they said that they would look at it. It would save posters giving the same advice multiple times after the OP has updated their OP. I guess though that that is accomplished by the “show all OP’s posts”. I asked mn to make threads open on all the OP’s posts so that posters would read those first. It’s evident that this should happen by the thread a while ago where an OP posted about her sick child only to post further down the thread that she’d passed away. MN HQ put a warning at the top of the thread for posters to read all her posts before responding.

The quote function doesn’t work for me. I can click on it, but it doesn’t come up with the post to quote so I have to copy/highlight from posts I want to quote...

Maybe there should be a tutorial for newbies. All the dos and don’ts and how to Customise etc.

Or maybe MN could put the customise options under user settings? I had no idea it was a seperate thing.

Hide thread/hide topic is also very useful but not everyone is aware you can do it.

Being able to edit typos.
Being directed to the actual post where you’ve been mentioned via the @ function
I’m also not sure if there is a way to partially quote some posts?

All of the above would be great, especially the second point. It seems odd that it doesn't already function in that way. At the moment it's like, you've been mentioned. Good luck finding where on a thread of over 300 posts. 🤣

Wouldn’t you follow a thread and see if you’ve been mentioned though? I never look at notifications and have the email alerts switched off as I think they are annoying.

Follow a thread? I often join a thread, post and then have to go to work. If I return and have a you've been mentioned notification the thread could have moved on by 100s of posts, but clicking the notifcation doesn't take you to where you've been mentioned.

If I post and have to go to work I just Bookmark and next time I log on I pick it up from there and carry on reading it. I’ll then see if I’ve been mentioned.

Wow, this is a revelation! I have been on MN for over a decade(!) and just discovered how to customise the threads!!! Although I am now disconcerted by how different it looks with colours.

I think it's only when threads like this come up that people find out this stuff. I am sure I was on here a good while before someone told me about Bookmark.

I'm glad I started the thread. I can now bookmark posts and you've got a fancy new colourful MN.

They really should make this information much easier to find.

Hmm ... I'm on my phone but not the app. (Because when that first came out it didn't do what I wanted. It may have improved now, I don't know.)

I have the OP's posts, and my own posts, highlighted on both my phone and my laptop. (And I've been able to bookmark on laptop for a decade, at least.)
